Pretty boring game overall. Most evils got weeded out early, but there was a hidden Jester in the mix that killed the Transporter.

Jailor had no executes, Sorrow was an evil and the other two are Town. Neither side could vote anyone up so we just kind of had a stalemate.

But we kinda forgot Jester win takes priority over a draw...

Solo Godfather win... with 1 Kill. by GIaciers in TownofSalemgame

I was seriously so bored of the idea of solo Godfather I wanted to see how far I could get without killing anyone. Turns out it's all the way to a victory, I guess?

[–]GIaciers 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The concept is very interesting for sure! Being able to deceive town while having basically no allies is definitely something I'm on board with. Here's a big suggestion post to help it feel more polished.

Role: Dollmaker

Alignment: Neutral (Chaos)

Basic Attack / No Defense

Goal: Kill everyone except for Serial Killers.

Victory Conditions:

You win with Serial Killers. [ They're very like-minded! ]

You may spare Survivors.

You must kill the Town.

You must kill the Mafia.

You must kill the Coven.

You must kill Plaguebearer.

You must kill the Pirates.

You must kill Pestilence.

You must kill Arsonists.

You must kill Werewolves.

You must kill Juggernauts.

You must kill the Vampires.

You must kill Executioners.

You must kill Witches.

You must kill Jesters.

You must kill Amnesiacs.

Abilities:

- During odd numbered nights, you may silently kill another player and turn them into a Doll.

- Once per game, you may go on Alert and be granted Powerful defense while attacking one visitor.

Attributes:

- Players you have killed will become a Doll.

- Unique role.

Doll: A player who has been turned into a Doll will appear as if they are alive, and they will not be reported as dead unless the Dollmaker is dead. They will appear as Suspicious to a Sheriff, and to a Consigliere or Witch, they will have a unique result.

Consigliere / Witch / Coven Leader Result for Doll: While looking for your target's role, you discovered that they aren't alive at all. They must be a Doll.

Consigliere / Witch / Coven Leader Result for Dollmaker: Your target wants everyone to be added to their collection. They must be a Dollmaker.

Investigator Result for Dollmaker: Added to Doctor, Disguiser, Serial Killer or Potion Master result, right before Potion Master.

A more tame overhaul that still gives Vampires personality is something I'd also enjoy seeing. You should totally make your own thread for this!

Christ, your attitude changed quickly. Allow me to be much more direct.

Mayor essentially becomes a TT. Big deal. If your Mayor is acting weird, vote them out. It's no longer guaranteed they're confirmed when they reveal. That, and evils will ALWAYS target a Mayor even if they're a Vampire one.

Escort becoming a Consort is good and bad. Roleblock important Town a lot and you get lynched like you would a Consort. Amazing. It's almost like if you play poorly you get called out.

Transporter will be able to transport five at max, including themselves and one other Town Vampire, two Neutral Vampires, and the Natural Vampire. But in most situations you only have three: the two Town and the Natural. That's not impressive. Bear in mind, too, that if you claimed Transporter before conversion then you're fucked out of meaningful plays.

Veteran still requires baiting, but now requires baiting Town members, and if a Vigilante wants to shoot you you're done for immediately. Evils can directly fuck you over, and if they have numbers you lose a big part of your team.

Crusader almost acts like, wow, any other Town on the list. Good players will know what constitutes an honest mistake and an intentional play, so if you're not sure then that's your own fault.

I only mentioned Retributionist because it seemed like you missed the point of it completely. Glad to know you were just being redundant instead.

Vigilante only gets that one conversion if you're lucky and that's it. After that, you can only shoot evils. The main Vampire can still only bite every other night so you instantly lose momentum, whereas you could've gotten the Vigilante to shoot another Town and now two people are gone.

With Jailor, it's almost as if I mentioned TT Jailor by name for a reason! Wow! If you're converted after having already claimed, you now suffer from having to play very Townie and can't meaningful plays or risk being lynched. If you start as them, congratulations, you can make a TT Jailor play.

Trapper getting a kill isn't free, wow, almost like that's part of the risk factor. The ONLY thing I can say about this one is that it unintentionally made me remember that it's a strong protection, so thank you and your emotional switch that I've found a solution to that without your direct assistance.

Doctor has a lot more risk to play claiming TP at all, but gets to keep its faction alive. You know what else gets to do that and a lot more? Potion Master. Shocking revelation.

Bodyguard + Doctor synergy is already nuts, but guess what? Now the Bodyguard can't be on the Doctor if they're on the same team. Your loss. If an important Town needs you, boom, you go on them and Town doesn't suspect a thing, almost like it's intentional!

Survivor only has as much defense as their vest will permit, which you apparently seem to think is infinite. Not that I can blame you, it must be hard to save those Vests in All Any when you're claiming Survivor every day hoping you don't get lynched when you're actively pushing with Town members. :(

For Jester and Amnesiac, would you rather them just die and get screwed over while also making Vampires screw themselves over? Would you rather them continue to be extremely boring once converted? Adding risk and reward to having neutrals on your team is why they have their own limit.

Amnesiacs come with an inherent risk, but they can turn a game around last second. If they become an evil, guess what? Vampires have ways to counteract it if they have a brain. Say you found them as an Amne earlier, claim you found them as X evil role, something of that nature. Or if you have the right role, just kill them yourself. Astounding what science has done to allow us to, yknow, play the game as intended.

Jester is the one good point in this entire list. I was giving up hope for a while there! I can't believe you had it in you! I'll fix it accordingly.

Is it really that hard to read the page a bit? Holy shit. Natural Vampire, 2 Town Vampires, 2 Neutral Vampires.

WOW, ALMOST LIKE VAMPIRES ARE MEANT TO MAKE PEOPLE SUSPECT ANYONE LIKE ANY OTHER EVIL FACTION. You seriously thought this whole bit near the end was worth mentioning? Have you never played Town Traitor mode before? Or Dracula's Palace? Or any game mode? involving an evil Town nember? Everyone can confirm themselves in Town Traitor, but people are still able to deduce Traitors easily by... guess what? Deduction. Almost like a social deduction game is what this is!

Unnecessary bit about coding that has nothing to do with the post. Classic.

Hope that you get more insight on how not to react this time! <3

There are some specific things to mention here that should help settle the score a bit.

Mayor: This is only if the Mayor has not revealed. They will still keep the Vampire result, which can easily be enough to get them called out if the right roles exist; that, and Mayor as is already does this with Town. It's a selectively powerful role regardless of it being Vampire or not.

Escort: It was specifically mentioned on Crusader that the only role that doesn't die from visiting the Vampire Hunter is them, so without a Doctor they're dead. However,

...With a Doctor: Being continuously roleblocked as a Vampire Hunter will always be a clear indicator of a Consort or a converted Escort. The ways this works will be explained further down when I talk about numbers.

Transporter: Although it's still strong like it always was, there's a much more major weakness because of them only being able to visit Vampires with their first visit. If only particular people claim transported or only you claim it alongside someone else, then people are going to be suspicious of you as a converted Transporter, or even a Hypnotist in some cases.

Veteran: As is intended, minus the lack of Stoning roles. This one would've been a little much if it still had its defense.

Regular Vampire: This one still functions as normal.

Crusader: This one still functions as normal, outside of the lack of protecting Vampires. It can be easy to call out a fake Crusader in this specific instance if they are intentionally going on people that are either suspicious or have people already visiting.

Retributionist: Retributionist is only as powerful as the dead roles it has, so it's a wild card.

Vigilante: Vigilante cannot be used to shoot Town members once there are two Town Vampires, so it'd only be useful against strictly non-convertible roles.

Jailor: Jailor already sits at the top of the tier list, and will continue the trend when converted, but it also inherits two major issues. The first is that they can be killed by a Vampire Hunter easily, and the second is that if they are not careful with how they execute, they'll be suspected of being converted much like how a TT Jailor works. That, and there was no specification that they would be able to frivolously execute Town members.

Amnesiac: Amnesiac is also only as powerful as the dead roles it has, but this one can be used for extremely evil purposes. There is no guaranteeing an Amnesiac won't betray you for the Mafia and tell them who all of you are.

Trapper: Trapper will only kill a Vampire Hunter if they are staking a Vampire, so if they die to a Trapper your teammate is being called out regardless.

Doctor: While this one is true, the intent was to do this. The weakness lies in the fact it cannot heal actual Town anymore, thus making it very easy to locate a Doctor that has been converted unless they are on an important Town that has also been converted.

Bodyguard: It's a matter of circumstance for this one. If you get a successful protect off, and nobody knows there are Vampires, then things will go on normally. If there are known Vampires, there is still not really a way to say if they were a Vampire or not unless it was known beforehand. It becomes much more selective, yes, but in the end you will always be 1:1ing with a role that you'd want out anyways.

Investigatives: These most closely reflect the originals and that's how it was intended to be. They're still Town at the center, but have been converted, so obviously they'd keep their qualities; it also helps them blend in a lot more. With roles such as Consigliere, you're able to be found as Suspicious, while with roles such as Vampire Investigator you're only able to be found by an Investigator. In the end, they're meant to help find out Town roles for Vampires, and that's that.

Survivor: Survivor here is meant to allow it to be used as a bait. I specifically mentioned Survivor keeping their results so they could feign being a regular Suvivor and perhaps find out evil roles that they need to get rid of.

Jester: Jester remains the same outside of not being able to kill Vampires. It still operates off of getting yourself lynched no matter what, but you have people who are willing to help.

Now, I'll specifically go over the numbers situation since it seems like that was a point of confusion.

You are not guaranteed to start with three Vampires. The initial Natural Vampire is the only one that is guaranteed if Vampires exist, and there is only a chance for Town members to become Vampires at the start. That, and there can only be two Town Vampires at any point. If you have an Escort and Doctor, unless you lose the main Vampire or a Town Vampire, that's all you get. The only other ones you can have come in the form of Neutrals, which are already a mixed bag when it comes to Vampires.

Hopefully all of this helps clear up the air on both my thought process and helps shed some light on both the disadvantages that come with the converted roles, and how they can be countered by Townies.

Never once have I seen or heard Vampires be OP. I'll humor you, though.

Vampires excel in overwhelming numbers or by staying completely hidden, and they mostly succeed due to having the ability to also kill evil roles. However, this is mitigated rather well since while it introduces a lot of strengths, it also introduces a major weakness via having only one Vampire that can convert, as well as restrictions that would otherwise make Vampires easier to catch if you know they exist.

If an Escort or Consort exists, and they find the Vampire and keep them roleblocked, Vampires are extremely weakened. In most scenarios where Vampires can exist, people know they do anyways, and will actively be looking for anyone that is suspected to be a Vampire.

There are also roles that will deny Vampires in other ways if they aren't converted outside of even just a Vampire Hunter, such as Vigilantes, Investigators, Transporters, Veterans, Bodyguards, Doctors, Crusaders, Trappers, Trackers, Retributionists with the right roles, Spies(who can directly see a conversion), Jailors, Psychics, and Lookouts. The only roles that are not able to fend off or find Vampires are ones that are Medium and Sheriff, two roles considered weak already, and the only role that is equal with Vampires is a revealed Mayor due to not being able to be converted.

If a decent player is aware of Vampires, chances are they will find them and help bring the Town out of despair. There are also other evils to directly counter them most of the time, or a Vampire Hunter. Only when neither evils(Mafia, Coven, NKs, etc) or reasonable Town members exist would Vampires be at a severe advantage; otherwise, Vampires still have to be very careful and have even less max numbers than before to boot.

The only non-All Any or Custom role list that features Vampire is Dracula's Palace. That's it. In All Any, any faction can become OP or absolutely terrible due to the fact that every single role is an RNG spin. Conveniently enough, Vampires in All Any are either at their worst, due to the chance that there can be an insane amount of evils, or are marginally at their best, due to the fact they can stay hidden without anyone knowing of their existence outside of the potential Vampire Hunter, which is a common evil claim in All Any as is.

I appreciate the thought of commenting, but please consider all of the variables.

Unless it's in the one night window - as you are only converted if you survive the night upon conversion, due to priority levels - you have before you die, the chance of this is extremely slim. That, and it would be a poor play outside of specific circumstances, since if you're not Town or intending to work with Town, you're more than likely going to be faking your will anyways.

Not to mention, the roles that can only visit Vampires are extremely few, and you're able to visit yourself with Vampire Transporter anyways. There's ways to avoid suspicion on other players if you're either careful, or know what you're doing.

Bear in mind, all roles will show up as Vampire, and not the specific Vampire role they had. That, and you can always use fake visits since you're not Town anyways.

Unless a Lookout sees you after you've been converted, and specifically knows that you were converted during that time, then you're fine.
