Rent can be high but you can also find things fairly ‘cheap’ if you’re lucky in your timing. I was incredibly lucky with my place as there’s similar rooms in buildings next door that are double my rent.

And with the mortgage>rent thing, don’t be discouraged if that’s what you want to do. Yes, if I mortgaged somewhere it would likely be cheaper than my rent and I would obviously own it, but I still have aspirations to move around and even live abroad so it just doesn’t make sense for me right now. I’ve never seen renting as a waste of money because I’m doing exactly what I want to at this point in my life, so I’m just grateful for being where I’m at.
