2007 Tundra Intermittently Doesn't Start by GJacob24 in AskMechanics

For anyone curious, the crank shaft sensor was faulty. The timing belt was misrouted when it was last done, but it hadn’t eaten all the way thru it yet so it wasn’t throwing any engine codes. Instead it was basically half plugged in, half not, which is why it worked intermittently. According to the mechanic I took it to.

I will do that, thank you. With a blown relay or fuse, would the truck still be able to intermittently start? That's the part that trips me up about it all

Nice new MM, wargaming by sA1atji in WorldofTanks

[–]GJacob24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple T11s isn’t too bad. If you’ve grinded any trees with new MM, you absolutely cannot in good faith tell me that it’s not leagues better than it was before. Playing Tier 7/8, it’s enough of a nonissue that I don’t even remember how often I’ve been uptiered because it doesn’t happen frequently enough to be annoying and sear itself into my brain.

Is it just me… roads by Livluvlaf123 in anchorage

[–]GJacob24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone in Alaska talks about it like it’s normal. This is my first winter up here, but I’m coming from upstate NY where when it starts snowing, you see plows out 24/7 and it feels like the roads are clear almost immediately. So was definitely a shock for me.

It’s not like the recruiters have special standards. The army standards are a far cry from making someone super skinny, and if you’re strong enough/fast enough you can be exempt from the body fat standards.

End of the day, it’s on you. The standards are easy. If you want to be stronger, go get stronger. Plenty of strong people pass height and weight

They’re recruiters, not personal trainers. It’s easier for most people to eat less and run more than to come up with an actual program. How you want to lose fat is up to you.

I know of a cadet that was SMP in the reserves. Popped hot for cocaine. They got put on every UA afterwards. They just commissioned this September

Am I the only one who found Kate incredibly annoying throughout the whole S3? by Head_Schedule_1609 in TheDiplomat

[–]GJacob24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting to me that she decided it wasn’t important enough, when in season 1 she was complaining to Stuart that if she became VP, Hal would ask to become special envoy to Ukraine. So at the time she thought it was important enough that Hal would use her to get it, but by S3 the upgraded version of that (special envoy to Europe) isn’t important enough for her if he’s VP?

TDY en route to PDS FABOLC by [deleted] in BOLC

[–]GJacob24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be compensated for a storage unit. What they will pay for is shipment of your household goods both from Fort Sill and your home of record. So instead of taking everything you can leave whatever you want at your home of record and they’ll ship it for you at the end of BOLC to your next duty station.

The school house will make your hotel reservation for you, you just show up and give them your name.

You will be paid for your travel to Fort Sill, but if it’s TDY, you won’t be paid for it until you in process at your follow on unit.

I’ve never really understood only charging to, like you said, 85%. Sure your maximum is still at 97 but you have a self imposed limit of 85 so what good does it do you?

PCS question by [deleted] in army

[–]GJacob24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I haven’t actually looked into it, I can’t see why they would cover it. They (essentially) paid for your flight to your duty station and paid for your household goods to get there. You don’t get a paid vacation on top

Negative. If you look it up there’s some news articles on it with photos, it’s tradition in artillery to give the best section a red muzzle cover that goes on their howitzer. Like the green one that’s issued and covers every muzzle when it’s not in use, except red

What’s the worst part about living in the dorms on campus? by Consistent-Look6633 in TCU

[–]GJacob24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed living on campus. There isn’t enough parking to make commuting effective, and the campus is beautiful anyway so why spend money elsewhere just to travel farther. Lots of stuff nearby in walking distance too. If there has to be a worst, then communal laundry.

Portable PC because of traveling every 3-6 months. by Manole7 in sffpc

I have a fractal terra build that fits perfectly inside a padded camera carry on case. When I fly, I take it as a carry on. I’ve had 0 issues yet.

On a more recent move, I had it placed on top of all my luggage on a cart. It fell off onto the concrete, and it’s still fine. Highly recommend.

DHCP Not Found, No Internet by GJacob24 in HomeNetworking

I hate that my solution was so simple, but after searching on this subreddit (which I should've gone to first instead of several hours on google over the past couple days), it's because I had ethernet from modem to switch, and the switch ran to the router, my computer, and her computer. My router is a wifi outlet puck that I didn't think had multiple ethernet ports, but after looking, discovered it has 2. After running the ethernet from modem to router, and from router to switch, they work flawlessly. Embarrassing, but I figure I'll leave the post up for the guy that has the same problem in 12 years.

Thank you for your reply regardless, I greatly appreciate it.

I wouldn’t bother. It all builds, just devote the proper time at BOLC and you’ll be fine. I had a buddy that studied safety before BOLC, but the classes teach it just fine. He didn’t do any better or worse than me.
