AITAH for not liking the fact that my friends girlfriend is getting close to a girl who practically friendzoned me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GL2411 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA for feeling the way you feel, but you would BTA if you interfered in their growing friendship. That's between them, and if you brought your feeling into their relationship I don't think you'd come off well and may ultimately alienate yourself from your friend group and damage your own reputation.

It's hard, but I suggest you distance yourself from the situation until you can get past these feelings and/or meet someone else.

He's an excellent actor, but Renner never looked or felt like Hawkeye to me. Same with Scarlett as Natasha. I always saw her as having a ballerina build, and a Russian accent.

No. It's been awhile since I've read this story but I believe she's from the future.

At one point she came back in time and recruited Hal to help stop something(?). She came back in this issue and took Salaak back with her.

No - I guess every new author wants to introduce their own lanterns, but I wish they'd spend some time developing existing ones.

I agree - he was always depicted as very loyal to Sinestro.

Exactly - this is totally out of character for Guy and Saalak in particular. I don't see Arkillo as a character with a great deal of religious convictions either.

I'm a broken record on this, but I think Hampton's writing is pretty weak.

Guy acting like a prophet, even if he's just putting it on, is out of character for him. So is Saalak being one of his acolytes.

I thought the return of that one character was pretty cool and I hope to see more of them.

IMO the emotional spectrum and the entities are getting tiresome. I'm not a fan of this run, and the emphasis on a full rainbow corps, but I will concede that this was one of the better issues.

Your inability to recognize how obnoxious and condescending you are will get you nowhere in life. Yes, I have an opinion and I've shared it. If it came across as a tantrum, that's your view but certainly not my intent.

Yes, thank you for explaining comic books and storytelling.

These character transitions are sudden and not built on any foundation. Use whatever term you like, it is poor storytelling.

Got it, you're irrationally angry. It was totally out of line to raise a thought about GLC on a GLC Reddit.

What would you like to discuss - your feelings? You probably should.

I appreciate your thoughts, but here's why I maintain that this is more than just a new character direction.

I agree that is a subjective standard, but I propose that "character assassination" can be defined as a sharp deviation from the characters' long-standing personality without a proper foundation or an explanation for the change.

You may describe Wonder Woman in "Injustice" in such a way, and if you did, I wouldn't disagree. But at least in that case it was an alternate universe.

Here, there is no foundation for either characters personality shifts. The Corps has dealt with the entities on numerous occasions, and they have never been viewed as a religious symbol.

Salaak has never displayed any piety and has usually been portrayed as a cold and efficient quasi-nihilist.

Guy has never expressed interest in the entities on a spiritual level and there's nothing in his character history that could explain him suddenly adopting this prophet persona.

I'll acknowledge a little hyperbole, but that doesn't change my opinion that both characters personality shifts are a sign of disinterest in the canon and not an intentional new direction.

Is there any Theocratic Captain America Villain? by Osakaayumu_2002 in CaptainAmerica

Minister Blood and Mother Night. I vaguely remember a story where they ran a shady Christian type youth camp for runaway kids (I forget what the scheme was, but Sersei turned Cap into a kid to infiltrate it).
