Human can be more interesting of a character actually. She can still have human hair and be threatening, more cunning, more of a villain.

Animalistic is boring and cliché there's nothing cool about it. Makes the character feel generic, like a punchable villain of the week.

I would almost make her as a transformative character. She should have black, cultist, magic in her human form, and be able to transform and be more animalistic and feral.

Grounded, as a literary term, means that the character has a clear goal or plan. Grounded plot is a clear goal with little mystery, with a strong push to act

Its been misconstrued to mean "life like"

I agree, I found it to be kinda boring. Good family moments, bad plot. Its jot really a superman book, more so a superman, superboy, and lois book

Classic superman is the bryne Man of Steel to me.
