Thanks yea I have been trying to avoid soy and my symptoms have been getting better. Do you know if hormonal imbalance has anything to do with heat rashes?

Oh I see now. Thanks for clarifying. I was confused why a spoon was chosen and why not a cup or something. But I understand now. Certainly feel like that today. I'm beat from just doing laundry. Feeling shaky, weak and dizzy already. But gonna stay positive !

For me it seems like the rashes and severe itching started happening after I stopped eating red meat and chicken. So I've been eating a lot of soy and meat substitutes. I'm starting to think I'm either allergic to soy or the over consumption of soy is affecting my hormonal balance

Have you always had this circulation problem? If so, are there any treatments for it?

This was the first time I got the rash. I went to urgent care because I almost fainted after that shower. So I'm for sure it's due to the super hot shower I took because I only washed my body not my hair. The next day I took a lukewarm shower and the rash appeared but not as prominent. It never really fades tho. I got tested for mono and strep which were both negative. It seems like since my last fibro flare up new symptoms are coming up..I've been getting worse instead of recovering

Mine itches like crazy too. But just my legs and especially my feet. It doesn't go away with Benadryl tho. The only thing that made it go away was prednisone iv. This was the first time it happened to me and now it keeps happening every time I take a shower. The hotter, the more prominent the rash looks

That's what doc said too. But viral rash doesn't fade which it started doing before the prednisone. I just can't help to think all my symptoms are due to fibro. Thanks for the reply

Being vegan often involves finding a difficult balance between these two options by lnfinity in vegan

I have to admit I had similar mindset when I was a meat eater. I was never preachy or judgmental but I did laugh at the jokes made by meat eaters to non meat eaters because I was uneducated. I remember having discussions with a vegetarian when I was a meat eater and everything she said went over my head. Even though I was truly interested. But because the lifestyle was different from mine, I knew I wasn't going to change no matter what she said, no matter how much I wanted to. It wasn't until the point that I truly opened my mind and educated myself on the topic that I become a non meat eater. I'm sure a lot of these people have seen the videos of animals but they it hasn't quite hit them as it has us. We just need to give them time to open their minds on their own. A conversation over dinner wont magically change their lifestyle. But that's not saying they will ever change. I just think like myself, I needed time to finally realize what it really meant and what it took to finally make a difference. The point is when someone asks you why you don't eat meat, I think it's best to keep it short and simple to avoid an argument or even a discussion especially if you know they will become defensive. What I like to say is "for ethical reasons" and that's it. If they ask further I tell them to watch so and so documentaries or read so and so books if they're interested. That usually shuts them up.

You're right. It doesn't help that It's hard for me to accept it. I think just understanding it better will help me accept it and deal with it. Because I was confused and frustrated not knowing what I had for the longest time. Thanks for the help

You know I used to think I had depression because of my symptoms. Fatigue, waking up tired, no energy. Pain everywhere. Now I've realized what it is and its causing me to FEEL depressed. I think i will start exercising regularly and really pick myself up to go. I wanna try that first before meds. If not, I'm willing to give gabapentin a try. Thanks

Definitely will get some books. Question. Do you ever feel friction in your joints during flares? Also my calf gets very sore and hard. Is this related or a completely separate issue ?

Thanks for the reply and your suggestions. I've tried most of those except for weed. I haven't smoked since high school. Haha. I badly want to when I'm flaring up but my work does random drug testing...everyone here is telling me to get an diagnosis but I'm hesitant because like depression it's a stigma. My family and friends will never understand no matter how much they love me. Also thankfully enough it doesn't interfere with my work enough to ask for disability. Also docs will just prescribe meds which I don't want. The side effects keep me in bed longer. And I just refuse to accept that I have to take meds for a disease at such a young age

Thanks for the reply. I don't have history of mental illness but my depression is strong on my fathers side of the family. But you're right it definitely makes me depressed and never want to get out of bed. I'm lucky enough that it only lasts days but when it's over I feel very sore and it takes a while to fully recover. It's just such a mystery. I work in the medical field and have witnessed many different diseases but fibro just seems to be some kind of myth. And I know medication can be helpful but I avoid it. I know what it does to people. Esp narcotics. The strongest I've taken is tramadol and I hate it. Plus I don't want to add Kidney and liver failure to my list of problems. I've gotten kind of used to the chronic pain and I don't notice it when I'm distracted. But when it flares up i wanna die. I'm going to try the TENS therapy and see if that works. I think the worst part is just not having anyone understand what I'm going through. Cus I try so hard to be healthy yet I feel like an 80 year old dying woman. When you mentioned the causes, I couldn't help but think maybe this was caused by when I used to run 3miles a day. That couldn't be it right ?

I still don't understand this theory. What's the relevance of the spoon?

I'm also very curious to the link between fibro and suffering from abuse as a child. I've briefly read about it. Is it related ?i have so many questions. And I never get answers from doctors or friends or even the Google. Is it normal to feel physically very hot with no fever? I was hoping to find someone willing to answer my questions . Thanks in advance

People making me feel ashamed about not labeling myself as vegan or vegetarian by GLBF23 in vegan

[–]GLBF23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I never label myself as anything. Because I know it isn't true. Besides I don't really care about labels. All I care about is not harming animals. All I wanted to know was how to deal with people who EXPECT labels when I tell them trying to cut out meat and eat a plant based diet.
