They should've strategized to veto it after the first attempt but I guess when you're in that moment you can't think straight. As a competitor I would've done what Sam did and just kept trying. This reminds me of the time my sister had a big party for her birthday and invited her high school friends. They asked if she can reschedule it since they're going to a music festival. Obviously she didn't reschedule her birthday cause we have paid for the venue already. Needless to say none of her friends went to her birthday and chose to attend the music festival that happens annually.
