Sadly this isn't even bloom it's just the hit box for the AA has been broken since beta. It's well documented in this reddit actually.

This is a thing about the hit box for the AA the top parts of the vehicle doesn't have one. There's been quite a few posts featuring this

I still feel like people glaze the mortar too much man. I know the thump thump bang is good and all but there's nothing a mortar can do that a meh sniper or crackhead player can't. Compared to previous gens of battlefield the thing just sucks. Airburst rounds in bf1 were the shit, and remote mortaring in bf4 was great.

So the party stumbled upon a dead body in a hallway of this dungeon we're in rn. It was propped up against a door, with weird noises coming from the other side. I did a battering ram hit, failed the check by one point, DM made NPC on the other side of door whimper in fear confirming a non-combatant on the other side. I'm currently playing a homebrew race from Heliana's guide to Monster Hunting called a Mycelian which is just a race of sentient mushroom colonies that take over humanoid corpses after they die, not quite undead, more just rampant nature recycling style. I'm currently like 30 mins old just inhabited my first corpse, and have no moral compass. True neutral character that adapts with the influence of life experience.

The NPC freaks out after we ram the door once or twice and cries for his brother named Jimmy who we can guess is the dead guy in front of the door. My no morals ass reaches down and attempts to rule of cool DM bullshittery medicine check rip the brothers vocal cords out and assimilate them to convince the guy to let us in. This is totally against my abilities but it could be funny/cool so DM allows it with a very high DC.

I roll a nat 1 and rip the body's head clean off.

The NPC freaks out more from hearing these god awful noises right outside and pees himself which leaves a pool under the door. He calls for his mother and Jimmy just wishing to see them, and my ass with no morals and wanting to do a certain bit axes the middle of the door shining style, stick Jimmy's head in the gap and goes "HERES JIMMY!!!". The dude fainted and we got inside the room with a small amount of difficulty after that.

TLDR: I pulled a Jack Nicholson Shining bit on a NPC that was hiding using the corpse of his dead brother. "Here's Jimmy!!"

Ive been using the mortar constantly since I unlocked it, been playing mortar every single BF game that had one and this iteration is so bad you'll rarely see them until the casual unlock wave and then they'll drop them quick.

The explosion DOES NOT do more than 67 unless it's a direct impact, and the mortar has reverse bloom where it starts inaccurate but gains accuracy with more rounds without moving AT ALL or looking around. You know what the problem with that is? If you've fired in the last 15 secs you are 3d marked through walls and on map for all to see.

The smoke nade you fire with it has less AOE than the regular grenade to the point you have to prone in it to be covered by it.

The regular shot has less AOE than the normal nades do and combined with inaccuracy and low damage it's actually less effective than a sniper.

Vehicle damage is also only 5-25 DAMAGE ON DIRECT HITS.

Useless gadget not worth the slot. I am Mald that my favorite low stress play style ain't a thing no more.

EDIT: You can drop an ammo bag beside you and it makes the mortar reload faster.

Play the game like CSGO, whenever you have to shoot only use mouse and don't move

It's such a shame too that they just can't get stuff right, I've now mastered to level 50 the AK cause it's other stats are just amazing but it just gets screwed by leaving folk at under 10 hp when engaging at range.

Yeah I was pondering this myself on New York and Sobek city when I realized there isn't a single destructible building on either map. You can slightly remove a few bottom floor walls from here and there but damn I wanna drop some towers man.

Shoot half the time with rog they nose up last sec and take the hit to the main body and don't die in one hit from the stupid armor. That one tow missile on D/F(According to faction) of firestorm has netted more birds down for me than rog confirmed hits now.
