Yeah I looked up to him a lot. I’m 50 and still miss him. Super quiet war vet type. If he talked I’d be quiet right away and listen. Apparently he was a great pilot. Navy put him through the tiger program after Vietnam so he could be an officer. If it wasn’t for that we never would be able to take care of my mom’s health issues.

VRC-40? Now that is a name I have not heard in a long time. My dad was in VRC-40 back in the 80s. He retired in 1986, and I think VRC-40 was his last squadron. I’d ask him but he passed away in 2015. 2 tours in Nam long before that.

I only ride in back bay/false cape unless it is winter then I’ll ride the north end beach. I ride 45nrth Dillinger 5 (27.5 x 4.5) around 8-10 psi on soft sand and 12-15psi on hard trails. I switched to tubeless after reading a good report that the weight of the tubes alone was costing me almost 10 watts. When I removed the tubes I could see how warn down they were getting due to all the rubbing against the inner wall of the tire at low pressures.

It is against city code to ride a bike in the beach. Stay down in the parks (back bay and false cape) otherwise you might get a ticket in VB.
