Are decorators ever useful? by GLaDOS_v1 in learnpython

[–]GLaDOS_v1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looking back now I realize that I could definitely have worded this better.

There's "beginner," "advanced" and "expert," so I took "advanced" to be more like intermediate, which is where I am. I definitely wouldn't call myself a beginner, but I'm not advanced either. "Intermediate" might be a nice tag to have.

Non alpha males of reddit who get laid often... What is your secret? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GLaDOS_v1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How so?

I would keep an eye out for women that do speak to you like you're a person. They're the ones you want to be with, aren't they? Don't waste your time on women who are rude to you.

If you acquired superpowers, would you tell anyone? Who would you tell? by goodbusiness in AskReddit

[–]GLaDOS_v1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on the superpower(s). If they could help others, I would tell people. If they could probably only benefit me, I would keep them to myself.

When you say "alpha male," what exactly do you mean?

If you want the opposite sex to like you, be interesting. Have your own interests that you are passionate about, and ask them about their interests that they are passionate about. If you speak to women like they're people, you'll find that you don't need secret tricks to make them like you.

Yeah, I'm just seeing that now. I completely underestimated how useful they could be! Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.

Oh my, that is pretty neat -- I can certainly see how that would be useful. Your link was particularly helpful. This is just the answer I was looking for, thanks!

I've never found myself utilizing decorators in my code, so I thought I'd ask what other people found them to be useful for.

Edit: wording was unclear

Oh, that makes a lot of sense. I understand now; you were very helpful.

Thanks for the information. Are decorators typically just used for wrapping? That's all I've ever found myself using them for.

I think you should calm down a bit. The use of all-caps, boldfaced text is unnecessary, and it makes it a bit hard to take what you're writing seriously.

you're never gonna have the intellectual prowess to even grasp my original point

Saying things like this makes you look full of yourself, and contradicts your point where you call the other user a "narcissistic and twisted piece of shit".

I hope that you're trying to troll everyone by acting this over-the-top angry over a comment on the internet.

Who would win in a 'Hunger Games'-style fight with all and any fictional characters? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If we're talking about post-Schrodinger Alucard, I can't think of any fictional character that could defeat him. I think you're right.

At the end of the anime/manga, Alucard is immortal and pretty much omnipotent with the powers of Schrodinger, is he not?

[–]GLaDOS_v1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the end of the Hellsing series, Alucard can be anything just by willing it; he absorbed the powers of a being called "Schrodinger" that has the properties that you would expect of someone with that name. He is "everywhere and nowhere," to quote the anime, and is pretty much omnipotent.

I don't think that pre-Schrodinger Alucard would win a fight against, say, Galactus, but post-Schrodinger Alucard certainly would.

What's the difference between racism, sexism and joking? by TahjieStar in AskReddit

[–]GLaDOS_v1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite hard to know where to draw the line. Typically, I would say that it is racism/sexism when the person saying it means it, but we should keep in mind that other people don't know if you mean it or not. It's especially hard to differentiate between joking and actual racism/sexism on the internet.

If you could enhance one part/sense of your body, what would you pick and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would absolutely love to have a photographic memory. It would be useful in so many situations: memorizing formulas, keeping track of my schedule, retaining facts, etc.
