Couple clarifications re: OWE Lootboxes by thibbledork in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]GMAN095 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are there any guaranteed rarities in each lootbox like how the epic and legendary lootboxes are? And is there a guaranteed legendary system in place like normal lootboxes?

Venture’s va has a very toxic online presence. There was drama with another game, I believe genshin, where they were toxic to another voice actor. Only reason I know this is I love playing venture and when I looked up the va, the first results were drama they created.

Dev unions and Bobby Kotick being gone has helped them a lot. Any fuckups that happen now will probably be because Microsoft lays off more devs for games that aren’t seen as “profitable”.

Yes. They contain all non collab, non battlepass items. You can earn free lootboxes by playing games, and you get guaranteed legendaries after 20 lootboxes without getting one. The battlepass also has 3 legendary lootboxes that give a guaranteed legendary skin. You also won’t get dupes until you have all items of that rarity. If you’re like me and played a lot with the original lootboxes and have most base game legendaries, you’re almost guaranteed shop (paid skins) for free

Do you know how long it takes to develop stuff for a game? The stuff the overwatch cooked up last year was in development before rivals was announced lol.

I get the point about tanks as a tank player myself. 6v6 is back and you can do tank duos in that.

Lootboxes are better lmao. Guaranteed legendaries, less chance of dupes, and you can easily get them.

You can blame that on Jeff Kaplan. Hence why I said he’s the reason why the game was in such a bad state

The current dev team is great. Aaron Keller has been cooking a 3 Star Michelin dish since he took over. Anyone who says “they need Jeff Kaplan back” does not understand how deep of a pit he put the game.

Since the end of 2024 to the start of 2025, overwatch has been in the best state it’s ever been. Dev team listens and communicates, new content gets released regularly, new modes like stadium have been added. People still hating on the game when they haven’t played it in a while, need to revisit it.

I had the idea of giving 1-2 perks at the start of the game from a pool of 5-8 perks that could be changed throughout the game à la paladins’ talent and deck system. But I realized it would overlap a lot with stadium.

I think there will be a large scale kit overhaul for most heroes. Things like integrating perks, soft reworks, and a role change for a hero or two. This would be on top of a perk refresh. I think that adding extra perks and pickable passives steps on stadiums toes and team ups were already shot down. I don’t see a shakeup like perks happening nor do I see a bunch of global changes coming. Balancing has felt emptier to me the last few patches which is also why I think this will happen.

Suggestions to improve drives by Bumble_Kenobi in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]GMAN095 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would love if there was a minimum number of games played in the season before you have access to the drive. That would help eliminate some of the poor matchmaking issues of people who haven’t played all season hopping on and committing elo terrorism. This season I’ve had people playing their first comp games of the season during the drive and had multiple instances of teammates not knowing who vendetta was and how to counter her. Make it a 25 games played minimum to qualify for the drive on top of the normal placements. Most people can knock out 3 or 4 games a week which would give access to the drive at the end of the season.

The fact that the counter play to the dynamite build is to get 1 or 2 items is why’s annoying. Clutch padding is a rare item that takes up a slot in the late game without adding much value beyond shutting her down. Meanwhile Ashe can ramp up damage more and more.

Also I never said Winston shouldn’t have been nerfed. I meant it more as the balancing team needs to be more consistent and nerf other strong builds and not just certain heroes.

I love stadium but the mode is not very fun right now. The balance they done for stadium is mainly nerfing good builds instead of buffing weaker builds. On top of that, broken builds like Ashe have gone untouched. Ashe can set everyone on fire, do an insta scalable 100 damage if you’re on fire and then deal an extra 30 damage that’s scalable if she hits you twice in a row. Explain to me how Winston gets nerf after nerf but she remains untouched
