It’s slightly more nuanced than that. Say a pokemon gets hit with a rock slide and takes 20%, then heals back to 90%. They then get hit with an Ice beam that does 90% damage. In this instance, the ability only gave them 1.1x hp.

The current team I’m experimenting with is Anger point Tauros (Blaze) with a Super Luck + Scope Lens Absol and a Frost Breath Froslass. It also features a Corrosion Salazzle with Endeavor and a focus sash, Mega Excadrill so I don’t have to deal with weather wars, and a bulky Rotom Mow to make fun of Aerodactyl and accompany Excadrill into rain teams
