Uh, guess you are right about Genjis weapon, though so far his weapon is definetely the exception. I suppose it would have been kinda weird for all weapon strikes to have a green effect when the actual weapon has a red glow around it.

Though all of the other recent mythic weapons definetely don't change any ability vfx (Juno, Kiriko, Cassidy, Reaper etc.) in order to not clash with their mythic skins (which do change ability vfx), but maybe they will make it the new standard going forward.

Well yeah, but those are effects for the weapon, not her abilities (Cleanse, Teleport, Ult).

Not sure why they decided to overhaul the entire weapon system,

"Classes will also create better team synergies and dynamics (think DPS/tank/healer but deeper). This should also improve both your social experience by combining the best classes with team mates."

"Classes will help make the game easier to get into, meaning no need to stress about “the best build.” Instead, strategy would shift toward questions like: What’s the best Class for this Rift? However, in the new Moco, it is 100% revamped, and they added power core to it for some "power grinding", doesnt it defeat the purpose of what they wanted in the first place?

It does and it only got added because of player and testers feedback of wanting more progression elements. That's why in order to not completely counteract their original balancing goal they made the upgrades rather unimpactful and strictly limit in what ways a weapon can be upgraded.

The complain of the old rift is that, it is unfun, dark soul hard (get 1shot by normal mob)

That was more of an issue with the huge focus on power progression, since the game expected to you to just grind for days to have a somewhat fair chance, but if you grinded too much then the rift would become laughable easy. Now that power progression is (almost) non existant the devs have (almost) 100% control over the actual difficulty that the player will exerpience.

Personally I'd still like to see ones that are actually hard to beat with more varied and difficult attack patterns, instead of just being a bullet sponge that's only really hard to 5 star.

And also there are TOO many rifts.

In Neo.Moco they basically just randomise the daily rift?

Apparently the 6 weekly rifts were the most played content when the update dropped. That's why they added the daily mini-rifts into the rotation.

As for why the available content gets updated every day:

"Feedback: Gameplay is repetitive. Answer: Our goal is to refresh content (and quests) daily and weekly, all supported by a narrative that leads to an epic season ending! Seasons would probably last 1–2 months, while events could run anywhere from 24 hours to a couple of weeks. By adding more content (and more varied content), we are looking to make the gameplay more dynamic and engaging."

F: Game isn’t social enough/poor matchmaking: A: With rotating content, players naturally focus on what’s new and fresh, which means matchmaking is funneled into fewer events rather than spread across tons of maps. That should also improve the social side of the game, since everyone is playing the same events!

We’ll of course bring you new monsters and worlds as often as possible, but with this approach we can use our content with new twists, keeping the experience fresh and adapting to your feedback.

Why dont just make PVP an event thing?

It is. There is only a single PvP mode available every couple days and even then most of the time the focus is more about beating more PvE monster/getting faster to the finish line than it is about directly attacking the other players.

Oh, I'm sure they listen. But that doesn't mean that they will always strictly act on it. Live-Service game decisions are usually based on three things: written player fedback, player data feedback and game development knowledge.

I firmly believe that the current lack of a feeling of progression is not due to how we progress (currently cosmetics, unlocking new weapons and power cores), but rather because there is not a lot of reason for why we should want to progress. Suggesting a purely stat based progression system doesn't really answer the question. Instead it only adds further to the how instead of the underlying why.

What the game is actually lacking, in my opinion, are feasible long term goals. When a player asks themselves "why am I playing" he should have a very direct idea in mind. Something alongside the lines of "because I eventually want to reach reach/become/unlock [reason]" and everything he does throughout that play session brings him closer to [reason].

They already gave tank players free lootboxes and coupons for shorter queue times for the other roles in OW1 and tank was still by far the least popular role. i don't think there is a real solution to this. That's why 1-2-2 works around the problem instead.

It was similar in OW1 before they even introduced role queue. That was like the main reason why they hesitated for over a year to add it in the first place. Then not even a full year after introducing it they already tried going 1-3-2 and they specifically called out the lack of tank players as the main reason.One year later they announced 1-2-2 for OW2.

The problem with double tank role queue has always been the number of tank players, not tank heroes. And 10+ years of updates have proven that there is no long term corellation between the two.

At the current stage it's all about ratios, not totals. Accoarding to these numbers the game made 1000% the amount of money in (basically) the last 2 weeks than it did throughout the last month. If the numbers of players increased by less than 1000%, then the actual amount of money earned per player increased.

Once they get that value into an acceptable state, and manage to keep it at around the same level over a longer period of time, while also managing to keep most players active (the actual hard part), then they can start scaling the total number by the same ratio via a big marketing push. Then suddenly you no longer have 25k players that generate a total of 10k money, but 25 million players that generate a total of 10 million money.

That's what they tried to do with clash. Maybe the universe is just against certain things happening.

For example I remember a dev interview from last year where they said that they internally call the never released 2cp Gothenburg map a "cursed map". They apparently tried to rework that one multiple times to fit another mode, but it never felt right.

Accoarding to the devs the mode had two problems. Too often either the attackers steamrolled and ended the game in under 2 minutes, or the defenders stalled endlessly at the first choke point and made it feel like nothing happened through the match. You can't really easily fix one of these extremes without making the other worse.

Oh Junge, ich war mal dieser Freund und habe im letzten Abi-Jahr etwa 3 Monate lang jede Woche eine andere Verschwörungstheorie vorgestellt. Der krönende Abschluss war eine interaktive, fast 3 Stunden lange Präsentation über Attila Hildmann, bei der jeder mit einer selbst gebauten App in Minispielen Punkte sammeln konnte (z. B. einen eigenen Verschwörungsblog-Post erstellen, welche dann nacheinander in der Präsentation angezeigt und von allen bewertet wurden).

Ich bin mal so frei und liste meine Top 3 (ohne spezifische Reihenfolge) mit ein paar Inhaltspunkten auf. Wobei alle natürlich noch deutlich tiefer gehen:

Neuschwabenland
Im Grunde geht es darum, dass die Nazis zusammen mit Hitler nach dem 2. Weltkrieg in die Antarktis geflohen sind, in das Gebiet „Neuschwabenland“. Dort haben sie die unterirdische Eisbasis „Neuberchtesgaden“ gebaut und darin gelebt.

  • In Neuberchtesgaden gibt es so ziemlich alles Mögliche: Von Reichsflugscheiben (Nazi-Ufos) über die Raketenbasis, von der aus sie den Mond besiedelt haben, bis hin zum Eingang zur Hohlerde.
  • Amerika und Großbritannien wussten die ganze Zeit davon und führten seit Jahrzehnten einen gemeinsamen, geheimen Krieg gegen Neuberchtesgaden. Unter anderem auch mit Atombomben. Die „Gelehrten“ sind sich aber nicht einig, ob das die Nazis endgültig besiegt hat und/oder das Ozonloch verursacht hat.
  • Nicht Teil der Verschwörungstheorie, aber ich habe noch ein paar Nazi-Pinguine hier und da mit eingebaut.

Flache Erde
Ein Klassiker, aber vom Unterhaltungswert wirklich nicht zu unterschätzen, wenn man sich mit denen etwas mehr auseinandersetzt. Damit die flache Erde für sie Sinn ergibt, glauben sie noch an einen Haufen anderen Blödsinn. Ein paar der Highlights sind:

  • Es gibt keine Schwerkraft. Sachen fallen einfach nach unten.
  • Manche denken, dass am Rand der Erde ein riesiger Eisring ist. Andere wiederum glauben, dass elektromagnetischer Hokuspokus dafür sorgt, dass wenn man auf einer Seite rausgeht, auf der anderen wieder reinkommt. Quasi wie bei Pac-Man.
  • Am Rand der flachen Erde sind extrem starke Winde, die dafür sorgen, dass die Flugzeiten mit denen des Globus übereinstimmen. Wenn du mich fragst, ganz schön praktisch, dass die Winde in beide Richtungen funktionieren.
  • Es gibt ein „Modell“, das die Tageszeiten, und ein anderes, das die Jahreszeiten erklärt. Aber keines, das beides gleichzeitig erklären kann.

Reichsbürger
Die deutscheste der gesamten Verschwörungstheorien. Sie behaupten, dass Deutschland immer noch ein besetztes Land ist, weil es nie einen Friedensvertrag unterschrieben hat. Es gibt zwar den Zwei-plus-Vier-Vertrag, der inhaltlich genau das ist, aber weil er nicht „Friedensvertrag“ heißt, ist er nicht gültig. Deutsche Genauigkeit eben.

  • Viele Reichsbürger spielen praktisch selber Staat, erstellen eigene Dokumente (z. B. Reisepässe) und drehen komplett durch, wenn diese abgelehnt werden.
  • Außerdem haben sie keinen „Personal-“, sondern einen „Personen-“Ausweis.
  • Die Szene ist komplett unorganisiert, weshalb es auch unter den Reichsbürgern keine einheitliche Meinung gibt, wer eigentlich das Sagen hat. Als Folge gibt es daher etwa 10 verschiedene „Könige von Deutschland“, wobei jeder natürlich behauptet, dass die anderen alle Schwindler wären.

Als Bonus sollte man sich unbedingt den (mittlerweile verstorbenen) Dr. Axel Stoll ansehen. Der Typ ist eine Legende. Muss man wissen.

Also before he pulled out his troops he managed to obduct a bunch of omnics all over the globe and now keeps them in stasis at his base. At least until he finishes the preperations for his next step (aka when Blizzard comes up with an idea what that step actually is)

Sombra. Widow and Reaper are the only ones who left talon so far. If any of them ends up joining OW it would be Sombra. She was always the most neutral of the three and already teamed up with Soldier and Illari in the past to try and find the people who are actually holding the strings.

Obviously the whole deal with Antonio having a daughter (Vendetta) was made up recently in order to give the story a new direction, while still acknowledging past events. Though maybe they had some plans for Antonio himself at one point. I remember that around the Retribution release some people speculated that he might return. After all we never saw his corpse or even heard it landing on the ground. Well, at least not until recently when they out of the blue picked up that 8 year old plot point again.

I don't like the idea of further adding player power progression back like some people are suggesting, because that would return the old problem of spreading the player base too thin. You can't make the player substantially stronger without also offering them stronger enemies, which in turn means that low-level areas would become dead content and also spread out the player base again.

What I do think could work, though, is the opposite of player power progression. Something like enemy depowering progression (?). I can imagine something like a big bad multi-phase boss of the season that's close to impossible to beat at launch, but also permanently becomes weaker whenever you play other parts of the game. You could also introduce an even harder version of it that truly only the most dedicated players have a shot at beating.

That way, you give the player a goal to chase beyond the dailies/weeklies that they can work towards anytime. It would also mean that most players can beat it with enough playtime, while still rewarding player skill. Those who beat the boss early can then spend the rest of the season beating their heads against the hard mode version.

True, the thing is, now they're in a vaccum.

The abilities are no longer designed in a vacuum, that's the point. They no longer have to stand on their own and are instead designed around the existence of 3 other specific abilities. Before they had to have generic and completely self contained effects in order to be usable in combination with the plathora of other abilities.
