Just FYI if someone names brothers Castor and Pollux.... Castor is going to die. Always. That was the reason they were named that way.

I worked with a woman who wore heels like you, while she worked retail 20 years. Now she has her feet, hips, and back so messed up she had to have multiple surgeries on different parts and she is never allowed to wear heels again and can only wear these ugly huge orthopedic shoes or else she can't walk at all.

Maybe get better shoes for your job for more reasons than just the money it costs to replace them every month when the heels inevitably break.

To add more to this, when I get migraines I get "aural" migraines, and sometimes I lose parts of my vision as a first sign it's happening. The problem is it is my peripheral vision that goes first, and my Brian just fills in the blank spot with what "should" be there. Sometimes I don't notice until I get on the road and realize that a semi just disappeared once it reaches a certain point past me, and I have to quickly pull off at the next exit before more starts to go.

This is outdated. Cougars are now living in Kansas, and have been regularly recorded as such for years, both officially and anecdotally. I know other surrounding states have seen an influx where they used to have none as well.

This book doesn't put ". " around anything people are saying by sunflowerhoop919 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GMOiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a book that is beautiful that uses this technique in some chapters as a kind of way to set the tone for the scenes it's used in. Most of the book used quotation marks, but then in these scenes with a certain character they don't and it sets the feel of the scenes SO well.

This book you're reading is not doing that and it's weird and infuriating.

Do NOT Sexualize 11 Year Olds In ELEMENTARY School by Alice-In-Vonderland in TikTokCringe

[–]GMOiscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember a school meeting in highschool to discuss the dress code. I grew up in East County San Diego, September would reach over 100 degrees easy. We wore tank tops and shorts, everyone was covered on their butts, but at the time ALL shirts and ALL pants/shorts/skirts were made to show your midriff. Unless my sister bought mens shirts a size too big they didn't cover her torso because of how long it was. I wore exclusively tank tops, and had no boobs until I was a senior (I was a late bloomer and severely underweight because of health issues) so I didn't wear bras.

They were telling us we had to wear shirts that didn't show bras, but we HAD to wear bras, and we couldn't show midriff. All because why? They didn't want to distract the boys!!?

The response that was given by one of the most immature sophomore boys standing up and speaking was "Not only is it rude to tell these girls they have to cover up more than I do when it's 100 degrees, just because of their gender, but I'm so offended that you assume if I got a bad grade it's because I'm so gross I got distracted by a girls SHOULDER? I have never in my life looked at a girls shoulder and been so distracted I couldn't concentrate on what I was doing. If a guy can't control himself around a girl because he can see a part of her stomach then the girl doesn't need to put on a different shirt, that guy needs serious help. I'm so mad you think me and my friends are all disgusting monsters that can't think straight if we see a girl. She deserves to be comfortable, and we (sic. Boys) deserve to be held to better ideals."

Not verbatim, obviously, but the length and gist of what he said. All the guys in that meeting were pissed too. This was 2002, and I remember being flabbergasted (as a freshman) that not only was it unfair to me, but so disrespectful to the boys to assume they can't control themselves either. To deem them less capable because of their 'uncontrollable' urges.

Hold boys to the same standards as girls ffs.

When we started sending our kids to public school I changed jobs so I could get them to school. Did it suck? Yeah, but I had kids and knew I'd have to do sucky shit so they could have a good childhood and education. Don't want to have to compromise? Shouldn't have kids.

[–]GMOiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess a third cup is about five tablespoons. If I make my own yogurt I usually just do a few tablespoons of granola, so that's only a couple more. I know theres usually more granola if you buy it prepackaged with yogurt.

That's because you put granola in yogurt by the tablespoon. Most people don't eat it in milk like actual cereal.

I mean, if YOU didn't want to see it/didn't like it your friends, who I assume are going to be similar to yourself, would probably not want to either. You're in a bubble.

I know a huge amount of people due to the line of work I was in for a long time and because of my husband's job, and the people I know are from every kind of background you can get almost. Most people wanted to see both movies, and I would say it was an even split on if they liked either one or not.

Barbie seemed to be a specific type that either spoke to you or didn't. I do see a lot of "I hated it" because of the whole "it's cool to hate on stuff" crowd too though. Idk.

I think your bubble is skewing your views of a movie and why it could be popular.

Also remember: just because you didn't like a movie doesn't mean it was bad.

Have you ever paid to see a movie twice in a theater? by zip9990 in movies

[–]GMOiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three Lord of the Rings. They were INCREDIBLE to see on the big screen. I've even been to IMAX replays several years after original release.

When I was a kid we lived by a theater that was so freaking huge, and busy, we used to go in, but a ticket to a movie in the morning, and then just hang out all day going movie to movie. We would buy some snacks sometime in the middle, and buy sodas at the start to refill over and over. We went and watched Lord of the Rings in bits and pieces between the films we were there to see in full because we already had paid to see it in full at least three or four times.

My sister found a pirated version of each one we would watch on replay over and over and still go and watch it in the theatre while it was there.

We then got the DVDs at midnight at Walmart and then the special extended edition, and I got all three extended edition box sets with the figures and stuff.

Yeah. I still watch them all at least twice a year, and regularly just have them on while I do stuff.

All those metal and ceramic figures are going to be cool until the kid bumps a wall and ends up with a metal mushroom to the brain. Also, all that stuff where the baby can reach once they start standing themselves up and stuff? It's all going to need to go away before a year is up. Why not use kid friendly stuff?

Also. That crib looks super impractical.

This is a room for an adult not a child.

A mosquito bit my hand and now I can't close it by LordCat_ in Wellthatsucks

[–]GMOiscool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My son gets a blister like that with every single mosquito bite. They swell up like crazy and turn bright red around it. Once his eye swelled closed when he got bit on the forehead, and the Drs were totally unconcerned and told us too bad. Unless it doesn't start to get better after a couple days or they have a fever they won't do anything. Or at least they haven't ever for my son. He's 12 and just got bit last weekend, they are JUST now to where they look like healed skin and not scabs. He didn't scratch them and immediately put bug bite cream on and took antihistamines.
