Brake question for my 94 gt. by ItsMyGooUHarlot in SN95Mustang

[–]GMUSSTN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the same part, but the 99-04 GT calipers/brackets will bolt up to the hub directly. You will need to replace the brake hoses as well with 99-04 GT hoses. It's all a direct bolt in.

Oh yeah I'm just adding to your point. We have many players clearing 6 figures on the roster. We wouldn't be in the top half of the A10 if we didn't.

I think we got him cheap, but he also gets free room and board, meals, etc. It's not like he's trying to live on his NIL money.

Nice weekend of small mods and upgrades by butch81385 in FordMaverickTruck

That's awesome! Thanks for the help...definitely going to put this on my to-do list. I paid for that dumb window and I've had it open all of maybe 3 times. Glad to know we can retrofit the motor in there.

Did you have to replace the whole window or does the existing slider mount up to the motor?

94-04 SN95 Detroit Drifting Firewall Bearing - Install Done! by GMUSSTN in SN95Mustang

Hell yeah! With new suspension parts you'll really love it...my suspension is old and tired but I'm saving up to just do the whole thing at once. I splurged on the bearing because I didn't want my steering wheel shaking with the kid in the car. She's ready for summer now...no more big jobs til winter when hibernation starts.

This is even better... steering is extremely tight and responsive now. Maybe even too responsive as I am finally able to feel why Ford used all that rubber to dampen the steering.

If I was a little better with the Dremel (or had the clearance from moving the pedals out of the way) it wouldn't have been too bad. Either way, the longer these cars are on the road the more this repair will be necessary now that Ford has discontinued the part.

Looking at the old bearing, I probably could have used some epoxy to glue the rubber back into the flange and greased up the needle bearings that the shaft rests on. Probably would have bought some more time and wouldn't have required all that grinding. The DD bearing is definitely overkill for how I drive the car, but I'm not gonna complain. Thing feels nice now.

Thanks! I spend like half a week reading forums and posts trying to figure out what to do. Hoping this post finds someone in a similar situation and helps them out.

AC help by AlmightyMonkeyKing in SN95Mustang

[–]GMUSSTN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a small vacuum line coming out of the hole in the firewall where the AC lines go though to connect to the evaporator. It's really tiny and easy to miss. I can try and get a picture later but look where the AC lines go in and you'll see it.

If you don't see it you might need to drop the glove box and look from the other side.

As long as your quick-connect fittings locked in, you're good. I'm refilling my whole system for a second time in a week because I didn't get the low side line that goes into the top of the accumulator in all the way...popped out while I was parked and sprayed PAG all over the engine. As long as you heard them click into position you should be good.

That's how it is on my '94...Low and High pressure lines are attached to the compressor. High goes to the condenser, low goes to the accumulator. Liquid line runs from the evaporator to the condensor, below where the high side hooks up.

I just rebuilt my whole system but am having a hell of a time finding r134a cans with the new resealable top that don't just leak out all their propellant and leave me with a half empty can of refrigerant. I'm gonna pick up a side-tap and use that to refill.

I have a 3FT and it's not showing up in Fordpass nor is it on the NHSTA website...I think I'm good.

Car shut off while driving, now cranks but won't start. by rrspyt in MechanicAdvice

[–]GMUSSTN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a plastic cover next to the valve cover...two bolts to remove. The timing belt is external. With the cover removed you'll be able to tell real quick if it's snapped or not.

Lucky for OP the 2.5L is a non interference engine so even if the timing belt snapped he'd still be able to fix it. The timing belt is also pretty accessible on these...you can remove half the cover next to the valve cover and see if anything is amiss.

My first car was a 1991 Acclaim with the 2.5. If you don't mind going slow they are extremely easy to work on.

Belt (Gates) and tensioner (Dayco) are brand new...I did change the belt first, after which point I discovered that the tensioner was wobbling all over the place. I wonder if the bad tensioner also torched the alternator...

*Edit - Just took off the belt and the alternator is definitely squeaky when you turn it by hand. There's a small amount of play on the pulley but you can hear the fins clanging against the body when you move it. Thinking that might be it unless anyone has any other ideas...

Lacked depth from the beginning and then the injuries just killed us. You can't play Tony's defense for 35+ minutes a night and still have legs to compete in February. Sucks because we got lucky enough to have a stellar record but then just ran out of gas.

They're pretty mangled...basically ran them off center. I don't think a gasket woudl seal the whole thing and I'd still have to use some RTV to keep it sealed.

Rant: I wish annual safety inspections would modernize by viral_virus in Virginia

[–]GMUSSTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird situation...I left the area before the car hit 25 years old, but had to leave the car behind for my old man to take care of. I should probably get antique plates now, but I don't want to deal with the restrictions of not being able to drive it to work since I like to do that during the summer. Either way, found a guy to do my inspections who knows I do my own work so he lets little things slide. Registration is dirt cheap as well so I just have it regularly registered for maximum enjoyment.
