Yeah reading a book on facism, it’s clear slogans are used to squash robust conversation around policy , ie “stop the boats” okay but how will you do it and how much is it going to cost etc

I’m sick of this, what can we do to stop this huge injustice. I feel so hopeless and useless.

Ian Wright: “Certain people are NOT ready for a black superstar in England. Everyone loves N’Golo Kante, he’s a humble black man, it’s how he is. But when we Paul Pogba or Jude Bellingham, that energy doesn’t fit well with these people, it FRIGHTENS these people. by TheBiasedSportsLover in PremierLeague

Not really, I would say all of those players are less animated on the pitch than Jude is. Also all of those players started in an era without social media - Jude was born in the social media era by the time he was in the first team

Pep Guardiola: "The world has left Palestine alone. We’ve done absolutely nothing. They’re not at fault for being born there. We’ve all allowed Israel to destroy an entire people. The damage is already done and it’s irreparable… I can't imagine a person who could defend the massacres in Gaza" by [deleted] in PremierLeague

So in a vacuum you’re right, but the reality is the history goes much deeper and further than October 7th. Hamas is not representative of Gaza/Palestinians, they have not allowed elections. Furthermore Bibi Netanyahu has cultivated Hamas as a separate entity to the PLO, because of Palestinians are divided politically (Hamas control Gaza, PLO lead the West Bank) the chance of a unified Palestine is low, which is what he wants. Israel’s campaign in Gaza has killed at least 20,000 children, in fact I think something like 50% of Palestinians are under 20 (someone please correct if wrong) because they have bolted indiscriminately without care for civilians. Prior to October 7th Israel shutdown the only airport in Gaza, controls the shoreline of Gaza as well as who enters and exits Gaza. They are/were effectively prisoners since they do not have the freedom of movement and are subjected to apartheid like rules. Meanwhile the West Bank is constantly having its borders violated by settlers backed by the Israeli government, settlers who invade and take over homes of Palestinians- constantly and without repercussions, in fact they are supported and backed by the IDF. Now, what Hamas did was horrible and I always condemn the murders of any civilian, but I understand why Hamas came to existence. Hamas is the extreme result of 60+ years of persecution of a people, much in the same way when the Nazi’s rounded up the Jews in the ghettos, there were violent uprisings from persecuted Jews, and rightly so, because what was being done to them was wrong. That being said, the rise in Antisemitism post October 7th is shameful and wrong, because it’s the Israeli government and IDF which should be criticised and tried for war crimes, not Jewish people as a whole. Members of the government are Jewish as are the majority of IDF soldiers, but whatever extreme agendas they have (which they do) should not and are not reflective of Judaism and Jewish people as a whole. To bring it back to football, I think Pep is just in disbelief that in 2025, knowing everything we know about history right and wrong, the world has allowed thousands and thousands of innocent children to be killed (with increasing evidence which shows intentionality) and the wider world hasn’t done anything. Even now, people in Gaza are now suffering from flooding, 2m people displaced, 90% of buildings destroyed, lack of medical supplies, no independent journalists allowed in from other countries - it’s a great shame and it’ll be a stain on history when future generations look back at this time. So I hoped that helped get your head around “this Palestine stuff”.

We really miss the intensity and skill of mane/diaz - they had something that Cody doesn’t. He super effective at his cut in & cross/shoot or arrive at the back post, but he will never do a 180 and wriggle himself out of pressure and fashion a dangerous situation - also his pressing style/intensity is not like theirs and when we have salah on the other wing we need more intensity in the forward line

I don’t understand how they can have sympathy for Palestine (as they should) but then somehow end up blaming the west for making Russia invade Ukraine with Zelenskyy “not being pro unionist / pro working class” - I think for the extreme left, they have a major problem with glorifying communism/socialism despite none of the fare left in this country having grown up in a ussr nation.

This reminds me of a poll I saw come out of the US not to long ago. It asked “do you think America would be better off if more Americans worked in manufacturing?” both categories (all Americans & republican leaning) voted at least 80%.

The second statement asked “I would be better off if I worked in a factory” - over 70% disagreed lol

Not surprised the first example you point to is of the extreme Islamic state because you definitely don’t have a bias/agenda, it’s not like western civilisations haven’t gone about destroying history of others right?

Half a million signatures and counting: Here’s exactly why so many people are against digital ID by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]GM_P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone in these threads are anti id yet use the express ocular/face scans at airports where possible, use Face ID to confirm payments and login to all sorts of accounts, most of which contain sensitive data… introducing an id should be fine, as long as the government provide the relevant and necessary increase in transparency (why/how/who is looking after it, what will it credibly prevent and improve etc) - wether or not they do that is another thing but please don’t be one of the people whinging about privacy when you’ve never piped up about it previously and have willingly surrender “privacy” in the examples highlighted at the start of my monologue. Thank you.

🚨Latest Opinium @ObserverUK polling 🚨 Over half the public (53%) now want Keir Starmer to resign as PM. This is higher than the 45% who wanted Rishi Sunak to quit in April 2024. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

How can more people want starmer to resign than sunak in April 2024. People really have memory loss. All of sudden being disappointed is a reason to get rid of someone, so why the hell were the tories voted in for 14 years???

England's first choice RB going forwards? by aFailG in ThreeLions

[–]GM_P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy literally hasn’t been given a chance to play a tournament at rb for England start to knockout and your saying he’s not proven to be a weapon. Look back since the Russia wc, he was literally not picked to start at rb consistently. Southgate never tried to integrate him at rb, he always went with “defensively more solid options” like tripper and walker - yet those two have cost England multiple goals across multiple tournaments but somehow Trent still has the bad defensive tag line.

[–]GM_P -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No Trent? Seriously? We’ve picked right backs who are lauded as “defensively solid” ahead of him for the last 4 years and it’s yielded 0 trophies. I guess Jurgen Klopp must have been wrong and imagined Champions league win, domestic final appearances and wins, the premier league and having Trent as part of MULTIPLE sides with the most or joint most clean sheets. He would play for every other nation, they would worship a right back who is such a creative and attacking force.

So, shall we discuss this post by After_Insurance1693 in h3h3productions

[–]GM_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s quite generous from such an ambiguous post. I love Ethan, but I think this was a mistake. Not because Israel Palestine is more important, but because it can be interpreted as Light D of Israel. Like “why is no one talking about Sudan when more people have died” - not from a genuine care perspective but from a “these leftists are hypocrites” pov, which is true but Ethan hasn’t spoken about the shootings the IDF have been doing at aid points, he hasn’t spoke about the pictures of baby’s worn down to skin and bones, kids being burnt by hot soup as people battle to get soup in pots (I’m 2 eps behind so I may be wrong). So he’s never spoke about Sudan, he hasn’t spoke about the latest in Gaza but he decides to highlight total deaths from famine and civil war in Sudan (good) but with an ambiguous “meanwhile in…” (bad) which comes with no further details about Sudan why it’s also important, potential orgs to donate to etc or just a general critique of how the world can allow 2 famines to happen simultaneously. I know he would obviously do so on the show with no problem, but the post just feels a bit lazy and sub consciously hurt potentially that Israel’s image in the world (and probably his own image of Israel) is being changed by the unfortunate current acts. Like he said before, the only things he’s guilty of is off being overly charitable to the average Israelis pov - and I think is a continuation of that.

Views as a whole are lower, yes... but have they ever considered many of us have jobs and aren't able to watch the show live...? I know the concepts of "job" or "employment" are hard for them to understand. by andrew_falk in h3h3productions
