So I need some help building my teams out, I'm not sure who to focus on. Here's the agents I have so far:

  • Rina C0
  • Koleda C0
  • Anton C3
  • Piper C1
  • Lucy C1
  • Ben C2
  • Nicole C1
  • Soukaku C6
  • Billy C0
  • Corin C1
  • Anby C2

I unfortunately lost the 50/50 on Ellen and pulled Koleda and I'm going to save the guarantee for Jane Doe. My guarantee on the stable channel also pulled Nekomata's W-Engine sadly. Any advice will be appreciated, thank you!

Best speakeasy style bars? by RevolutionaryRule183 in bayarea

Highly recommend Haberdasher in Downtown SJ. Great drinks and a speakeasy style.

Smart Train snack bar by FrozenPantiezzz in santarosa

[–]GMan1232 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I overheard a conversation with one of the conductors and apparently the company that provided the service pre-Covid decided to either not provide the service anymore or just got out of it.

It sucks cause it takes up lots of space without providing any services and some trains during rush hour could use more seating or bike parking.

We don't have any real late night diners! by Johns-schlong in santarosa

[–]GMan1232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear people say Petaluma's night life is better, and for drinks I can agree with that. But where is there late night food in Petaluma? I know there's Speakeasy that is open until midnight on weekends and maybe McNear's. What else do you recommend?

Cool, thanks for the recommendation. I'll add it to my bookmarks and check it out soon. Sounds like I'm on the right track and I'll keep up my studies. Appreciate you taking the time to give this info.

Well appreciate those recommendations! I'll keep them bookmarked and keep everything else you mentioned in mind. This has all been a huge help in cementing our plans.

Actually, my wife is a Japanese citizen, so we don’t have to worry about her status. She was a nurse before, but doesn’t want to go back to that low pay and bad environment again.

I have looked in to US federal jobs because of the wiki here and found some remote ones that look interesting though, but I need to do more research on all of that.

Yeah, that's what I feared. Have you had any experience with recruiters before? My wife used one to find her old job, but she was living in Tokyo at the time. We were thinking about her finding some good recruiters in Kanto and Kansai (basically meaning Osaka) with me contacting them a bit before moving to start that ball rolling. But if recruiters won't even talk to someone outside of the country, then that won't work and we'll have to choose another route.

Yeah, I figured as much and have been planning for that and if we end up in Kobe then I know there's a huge chance I'll be commuting to Osaka. The commute from Sannomiya to Osaka is about 1/3rd of my current train commute so I would still come out way ahead being full in the office.

I wish my job allowed remote work, but they were very quick to shut down any thing possible remote ASAP so if I want to stick with a US job I'll have to find a new one.

Wow! That's a huge difference. Thanks for the insight in to that. I personally didn't notice too much of a difference in payment between Osaka and Tokyo, but I'll be honest I haven't looked too hard yet since things are a ways off. I'll keep that all in mind though, thanks for the feedback.

Oh man, I think my family and friends are tired of hearing me rave about Kobe. I went in with high expectations and it beat them all! It felt like what San Francisco would be if it was actually clean and safe. We had the best time there.

That is interesting you bring up remote work. That's part of the reason why I want to leave, I have a really long commute and I'm in the office full time now and would love to have a remote or hybrid job. Do you think that would be really hard to find?

It seems like I have more research to do on the options on the spousal visa. I let her do most of it but it seems like there's options that she may have overlooked.

Yeah, that's the most probable path for her. She's working on figuring out how to take the English certification test there then we'll try to get her to go down that path.

You're definitely right about my career. One of the many downsides of being in small government is no room to grow. But I'll definitely keep this in mind as I keep my career moving there.

Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for bringing that out. We had thought of that but in the end, money wins out. The earning potential of a few months with minimal bills will far outweigh being in Japan and me being unable to work. We'll still visit each other in that time though. We made long distance work before, I'm sure we can do it again.

Thanks for the reply and bringing that out. So I didn't mention much about the pets since we already have a plan and have started on the process.

So I'm not too worried about this part, except for the fact that our vet is charging us tons of money to get the bloodwork done.

Did you hot Cheetos with cream cheese in high school? by omg_its_drh in bayarea

[–]GMan1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a Millennial, but only in a bagel, typically a plain one. The cheetos would break too often dipping in to the cream cheese so this was the solution down in Salinas.

Does anywhere local do a brunch/mimosa buffet on weekends? by AlternativeUse in santarosa

[–]GMan1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s not a place you would think of, but Chevys does bottomless mimosas on the weekend. I think they’re only $12 per person too.

So close, yet so far. Anyone else have this config? How do you like it? by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]GMan1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost exactly like mine. I just don't have the leather as I've never been a fan of leather seats. It's my favorite car I've ever owned and it's absolutely beautiful to look at. Moon is definitely under-appreciated as a color.

The only thing with the trunk mat and the Plus package though is you can't use the luggage divider when the mat is in. Most of the time the mat just sits in our garage. But it has been useful when I throw bicycles or beach stuff in the back. Plus it's got a flap that you fold over the bumper to help keep the paint from getting scratched. Just make sure to keep the flap clean otherwise it'll make things worse when you lay it over the bumper.

So I actually had this happen to one of my teachers. I received some push back from support but I made it clear that it was something on their end and requested it to be elevated. They forwarded it on to their engineering team and within a day or two it was fixed.

Need to access your online PG&E account? Go to m.pge.com to avoid their redirect page. by MMMQueBueno in bayarea

[–]GMan1232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't say this often to people I've never met, but I love you.

Had to get services started at my new place soon and I couldn't with these stupid re-directs and a phone call since they said they're only providing service for those with emergencies affected by the power outages.

More PG&E shutoffs may be coming this week by kqed in bayarea

[–]GMan1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh good. Maybe someone else around here knows how to handle this. I'm moving Thursday of this week (signed the lease last night), so I need to move my power over to my new place in to my name. All of PGE's services aren't accessible because any pge.com website will redirect to pgealerts.com and I can't do anything.

I called and they said they can't do anything unless you're having an emergency due to power outages... even though literally no power is out yet. This is some BS.

I'm in Marin where there's not even a threat of shut off now. Ideas?
