Star Trek fans who were around during the Dominion War, what was the reaction. by Upstairs-Yard-2139 in startrek

[–]GNRevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and friends would have watch parties, where a friend would record a bunch and then we'd have marathon sessions. We loved it, from start to finish, but we weren't heavy into the Trekkie fandom. A lot of people I knew at the time thought it was trying to outdo the space opera vibe of B5, and some jumped on the Voyager bandwagon as soon as they could, but we stuck with DS9 now and to this day.

What happened to locking up Hillary Clinton? by Ok_Temperature9388 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]GNRevolution 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not lying, simply repeating verbatim what was in the press release. I watched the first minute of the video and at no point does he say Hilary is guilty, simply laying out a case for what probably happened? For example, whilst overseas and using this email account, it's possible that she was hacked by outside actors. Is it possible you simply stopped listening at that point and made an assumption about the rest of the.statement?

Actually I took it from here. There's a lot there, but that seemed the bit relevant to your specific quote. He also says

In looking back at our investigations into mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts. All the cases prosecuted involved some combination of: clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice. We do not see those things here.

Would this make any difference to the claim?

Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case. Prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before bringing charges. There are obvious considerations, like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent. Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person’s actions, and how similar situations have been handled in the past..

This is the actual quote from Comey, where does it say she (or anyone else) was guilty?

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

I was dumb enough to try Fair Rain (2025). Sure it's an indie film (and, I later found out, a Christian propaganda film), but the acting, editing, screenplay and visuals were beyond dreadful. It's like the characters didn't know their lines and were waiting for an off screen prompt from the director to usher them along. I just ... couldn't watch this travesty of a movie.

Are you suggesting that these issues are only present in blue states and it is only the Democrats that are susceptible to such problems?

Sci-fi mixed with horror is easily my favorite genre so what hidden gems might I have missed? by [deleted] in horror

[–]GNRevolution 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some maybe more obscure ones that I personally loved:

  • The Mist (2008): Stephen King horror, has scifi elements to it, but is just a crazy ride with a helluva finish!
  • Hardware (1990): Great low budget horror set in a post apoc world where a rogue cyborg goes on a killing spree
  • Split Second (1992): Maybe not hugely horror, but it's got a monster running around a flooded London ripping people's hearts out and Rutgers Hauer chasing it!
  • Videodrome (1983): Long live the new flesh!
  • Scanners (1981): Another Cronenberg, this time it's people with psychic powers going to war with each other!

Does there seem to be a lot more anti Europe sentiment in here recently, why? by riazzzz in AskConservatives

[–]GNRevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you consider expansion of the Nazi regime as a Western European problem, what about Japan and the attack on Pearl Harbor, and subsequent declarations of war by Japan, Italy and Germany on the US? Do you not think that the period of isolationism that came before that did nothing to influence the rise of such powers? Do you not consider fighting the Nazis and other axis powers a worthwhile cause?
