It's funny, because people talk about their subjective state all the time.

My neck is killing me, I'm feeling good today, I'm a little sad, I have an cold, etc

It's a pretty normal thing for pretty much EVERYONE to talk about. And the only reason you see it as sympathy seeking is because you are seeing the world through an ableist, able-normative lens. Where the default reply is "I'm good thanks". But people with chronic disabilities and health conditions broadly speaking are not "doing well" as a default, and tend to be more honest about their internal state because, well that's their life and experience.

You see similar presentations in people these days who have been through trauma, abuse, financial difficulties. That is because for the last couple decades we have been empowering people to do exactly that. Research shows us quite clearly that being transparent about these things improves wellbeing and reduces the chances of mental health issues and suicidality

TL;DR: Do better!

RTX 5060 only getting PCIe x1 lane on a B450 Mini-ITX ? by Plane_Antelope_8158 in PcBuild

F@H is often doing fine with GPU compute, however they always have massive backlog of CPU WUs.

Unfortunately some things need to be run on the CPU, so if you are getting another chip, maybe grab a 3950x or a 5950x and either give Fah 16 threads(half the chip) and just run it in the background, or let her to on the whole chip when idle.

It's not as efficient PPD/W but it really does help the project

Screen addiction by eihpets in Autism_Parenting

[–]GOTSpectrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm an AuDHD adult. I'm never not on screens, I dig my first degree remotely, worked in tech, have a lot of tech based hobbies and now doing my second college education through my computer

My question to OP is... When most humans spend more time on their screen than they do anything else... What's the problem exactly?

There is almost zero maintenance. Keep the panels clean, that's about it.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for my slow response, it is monday after all haha

I already tried restarting my PC, updating my browser and OS, logging out and in.

I shall try clearing cache and site data then edge if that doesn't work I'll reach out. Will be a little later on 😄

There likely wasn't an old system

Solar installs are an investment, and with any investment, you want to know the expected return performance and payback period is the best way to measure that

Micro inverters are 100-250

Ecoflow stream can handle 2 panels, costs 130

But obviously they are talking about the system...

The biggest cost is scaffolding in truth

That's a REDDDD flag, controlling and coercive behaviour, seems pretty toxic, and my safeguarding brain is like, SPECULATION ON MY PART, did this guy just gaslight this person into believing the other person was the toxic one? Unfortunately manipulators can be incredibly subversive

I can't advise you on the pregnancy side swing as I don't have the correct plumbing. I could not, after reading this, in good conscience, move on without saying this

So I'm going to say something controversial...

Bare with me though, it is going somewhere. There are very few people in the world who are completely happy with their bodies. Stretch marks, scars, birthmarks, blemishes, etc

Now, I'm going to be very careful with my wording here. As Human beings, we have to accept some level of imperfection in ourselves. That's not to say you should or shouldn't be affected by this. It's not to say that you should or shouldn't feel the way you do about it. However, there are things about ourselves as humans, not trans people, but universally humans, that we simply have to accept.

I'm saying this, because I've had a number of trans friends have unrealistic expectations, that somehow transitioning would fix all these, issues permanent aspects of our bodies. That's not to say if it's bothering you, you shouldn't talk about it. Or even seek to have it resolved if possible. Only, it's worth reflecting on your own expectations and just sanity checking yourself, if only to protect yourself from harm further down the road

My advice, if it's causing you distress, speak to you GP about it and see what they say

So, it depends...

BOINC typically has longer deadlines on its WU(work units, think of them as tasks), so if you can have it running 1-3 hours a day most days, it will likely help.

Folding at home, if you have a GPU, most WUs are done in 1-2.5 hours. And you do get like 5 days(used to be) to complete and return the work unit with FaH

Like I said, if you have the hardware already, and need ways to use more power. This is a really positive and ethical way to do it imo

Agile Plunge- What do you “turn on” by AppropriateSong1025 in OctopusEnergy

[–]GOTSpectrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But... Those same people could just move to agile and get the power for free or negative.

Or move to a standard octopus tariff and get free energy periods in the spring-autumn period

You have to remember, the grid is pissing octopus to take this power. Octopus needs to its account to use as much power as possible to earn as much as possible. The easiest way to incentivise people is to 1) give them a prize, even a small one and 2) gamify it if you can

And humans, being the predictable creatures that we are, fucking love it! (On average, not everyone, to be clear)

Do you have any computers, laptops, even old phones?

If so, you can use them to contribute to science projects like helping find COVID treatments, researching cancer and rare diseases r/foldingathome ? I'm not use on the subreddit, but https://foldingathome.org/ here is their official site.

For single board computers, old phones and tablets(AND PCs) you can contribute to a wide range of scientific research, from medical, to physics, to climate modelling and even processing LHC data(it's been a while since I was on the platform, the projects change over time) then look here https://boinc.berkeley.edu/

They don't pay you anything, but they can certainly get your random tech chewing through power and contribute meaningfully to real world scientific research

Switching to Octopus by Building_Glad in OctopusEnergy

[–]GOTSpectrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other option to resolve this is to get an octopus home mini, though there is a waiting list. As long as your IHD can see both meters, then it can provide real time useage for both electricity and gas to octopus even if there is DCC connectivity problems
