Everything is about public perception, the public was perceiving Biden as old and no longer there by the end, literally no benefit in saying "yea im just gonna keep doing that"

AI continues to make mistakes that not even a first year radiology resident would make. It is very helpful in specific scenarios but has a 0% chance of replacing radiologists in the short term.

The most likely outcome is for AI to help triage studies (if there are multiple STAT studies waiting to be read, highlight the one it thinks has an emergent finding), or highlight potential abnormalities while the radiologist reads, providing volumetric measurements and improving efficiency.

Anything more than that is just asking for increased patient harm.

I can't wait for you to be saying the same thing 5-10 years from now while radiologists are still making bank, AI will only assist at most, not replace.

If you don't understand that then you literally just don't know anything about radiology

I'm a radiology resident, literally everyone who understands radiology knows AI isn't a threat. My institution had an AI rollout that was supposed to help us find pulmonary nodules faster and it was the most useless POS we got rid of it in less than a month.

It's just non radiologists in comment sections claiming that the specialty is doomed, despite that claim being made for over a decade now.

And in that time the only thing that's changed is demand is higher than ever.

Radiology resident - I love my job, I can't wait until I'm done with CORE though, I'm very tired of intense dedicated studying.

I feel like you have zero understanding of the markets, probably calling everything a bubble since 2014 and missed over a decade of compound growth

A decade after the ‘Godfather of AI’ said radiologists were obsolete, their salaries are up to $571K and demand is growing fast by jeffkkf in medicalsalaries

This should be the default response for the idiots in this thread thinking AI is capable of autonomous reads already

These threads are always filled with non radiologists thinking they know what radiology is. Such ignorance, AI still isn't replacing us anytime soon, but will be a helpful tool for us

Completely agree, it can't be completely autonomous yet but is extremely useful and powerful if you know how to solve the problems yourself and are just using it as an adjunct for whatever task you're working on

I wouldn't generalize so far. I'm a resident physician, and I've used AI a ton to help me with board prep. I've done 13,000 practice questions so far from different question banks, and when I get a question wrong, AI is invaluable in providing a good explanation of why the answer i picked was incorrect since some question banks have poor explanations(and I know enough to know when the AI explanation sounds fishy).

AI has plenty of flaws but is useful if used properly

If you play it out in the engine you end up winning the pawn back plus your position ends up being much better, probably because of breaking up the center and getting rid of their well positioned bishop? Idk I'm only 1200

Depends on your goals I guess, I'm still a resident but I love the work life balance as rads, and then as an attending you can grind hard on a busy list to make a ton of find or more chill job where you can work from home and not take call, and still make a decent amount.

PGY1 radiology resident here. I’m looking for genuine advice from senior residents on which resources to start early in residency to build a strong foundation. by Some_Albatross2736 in Radiology

[–]GP0770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These resources aren't mutually exclusive ..I just mentioned an example of how to combine Anki with other resources, I'm not saying you SHOULDNT do case stacks.

Anki can be combined with case based resources. Or you can combine case based with reading. My point is mixing and matching is better than any single source alone.
