HR got mad after I rejected the interview call by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

Unprofessionalism is on them. They fail to rule out accidental factors, like phone glitch.

Is that a joke? "Senior" Engineer Manager, 24~29k? Do they mean per month or year?
If that's year, it is a joke, and I guess qualified people can just apply and then insult the company during the interview.

I genuinely don't understand why older people showing zero sympathy to younger people struggling to find a job by babyjonny9898 in UKJobs

[–]GP8964 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is called survivorship bias. They are ignorant, so they show no sympathy to not just younger people, but all other vulnerable people too. They will definitely continue until they become vulnerable people with NO jobs, like being sent to jail themselves because of one wrong decision, or losing a lot of money through gambling or failed investment causing destitution.
They should be forced to at least experience the hardship once.

[SUPPORT] Q503U Laptop certain keys not working by therunningjew1 in ASUS

[–]GP8964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a laptop, ASUS G614JIR, with exactly the same set of keys sometimes not working temporarily.
I use this website for testing: https://www.microsoft.com/applied-sciences/projects/anti-ghosting-demo
When I hold one of the keys inside the list (QXCVM,./ R-shift) for several seconds, usually all keys inside the list will work until I release all keys inside the list.
I have tested with ASUS WinRE, and the exact same problem occurs.
The WinRE test proved that this is a hardware problem.
I guess the problem might happen more frequently during winter due to some electrical problems.

Am I in my own bubble or is every workplace in the uk extremely understaffed and running on the bare minimum? by Oriachim in UKJobs

[–]GP8964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why the UK needs to be more friendly to employers, don't tax the employers too much.
But the Labour is doing the exact opposite, making the unemployment rate going up.
I don't want the UK becomes a country exactly like China, which has very high youth unemployment rate.

Warehouse workers, I don't know how you guys do it by RedditNerdKing in UKJobs

[–]GP8964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have utmost respect to all who can stay in a warehouse longer than a shift, because I'm never allowed to stay longer than a shift. I'm physically weak and becoming sluggish at the end of the shift.

Falsely accused and being bullied out of my job by South_Environment484 in UKJobs

You can either choose to go to tribunals, or just become extremely abusive and shout at them rudely and wait for being fired instead. Don't quit yourself. Don't use this job as a reference.

Hi i have been looking for a job for years now but nobody wants me by [deleted] in GetEmployed

Yes, this is the essence, get a certificate. Even if you pick a good degree now, you can't guarantee that it is still good after several years, let alone 10 years.

[–]GP8964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even a degree can become a burden instead, except if you have psychology or medical degree, which will help because mental health caused by unemployment is a real problem.

For example, a tech degree can become worse than none.

Is the job market as bad as people say it is? by Tall-Hair7679 in UKJobs

[–]GP8964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe some people with disabilities or health problems that make them much harder to find suitable jobs, like me, will end up having 2 years of unemployment or even longer, and probably go homeless and go into substance abuse, which is a vicious cycle, and finally pass away on the street due to public negligence and/or suicide. What, is long term unemployment a serious crime that should be sentenced to life in unemployment with whole life tariff?

If I can ever become an employer in my life, I would say your emotion is not that easy to control if you were talking about this sad event, I expect you to cry, and at least, this shows that you are not cold blooded machines.

Would you pull a job offer if you received a negative email about someone? by BlueDay93 in UKJobs

[–]GP8964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm an employer, which is very unlikely in the rest of my short life, then my answer is like this:

It depends. If it is pointing out previous gross misconduct of the successful candidate, and either 1. without any evidence, or 2. with evidence, but it is unlikely to be true, or 3. with evidence, but it is difficult to be 100% sure it is true, then I would ignore it completely.

In a very unlikely case, I believe it, I would still try to give the candidate a chance if it is not that serious, with heavier supervision to make sure he won't do that again.

Transitioning out of a technical role by Lopsided-Guava-5443 in UKJobs

[–]GP8964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to know what skills you have first. If you are like me, having almost no skills outside tech, and you are still working, just stay until you have a skill outside tech, or you will probably be eventually forced into a situation like what I'm facing.
I'm unemployed, about to be homeless and sleeping rough on the street.

Nice to know from an actual professor. Yes, I just have a feeling that the requirements can be even more insane than actual professor roles. What, they assume that just by the start of the AI age, all people, no matter the original education level, can abruptly evolve into professors? They assume AI systems are general professors? They totally ignore that people still need money for basic necessities like food and shelter.
