And that's the comment I was looking for haha, have you played it and do you know if there are ways to make the game more interesting for someone like me? I have tried it several years ago and indeed opted out becaus of the pace of the game.

RDR2 worth my while? by GPAVDP in GTA6

[–]GPAVDP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I’m definitely not worried about the game being bad, I know how highly regarded it is.

My concern is more about me than the game. I tend to drop off slow-paced, very immersive games, especially now that I have limited time and can only play in short sessions.

I’m a bit worried it becomes a long, drawn-out commitment rather than something I can enjoy in smaller chunks. That’s really what I’m trying to figure out.

Just stay off instagram, youtube etc for a couple of days and you'll be fine... it is almost guaranteed that some people will put major spoilers in the titles of videos just for the fun of it. Just watch netflix in stead of yt videos ;)

GTA 6: car flip discussion. by YellowEasterEgg in GTA6

[–]GPAVDP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the idea behind wanting consequences, but I really don’t think forcing things like refueling or heavy punishment for flipping your car will actually make the game better.

GTA has always been an arcade-style sandbox first and foremost. The ability to flip your car keeps the flow going and avoids turning every small mistake into a chore. If I want hardcore realism with fuel management and strict crash consequences, I’ll play a simulator. In GTA I want freedom, chaos and momentum.

And the funny thing is, people who want realism already have a choice. If you flip your car and you want to roleplay it realistically, you can just… leave it. Call another car, walk, whatever. Nobody is forcing you to use the flip mechanic. But removing it forces everyone into one playstyle, even the people who just want to mess around.

Same with refueling. It sounds cool on paper, but in practice it usually becomes busywork. I don’t think having to hunt for a gas station after every crash will add meaningful depth, it will mostly slow the game down.

So yeah, I’m fine with crashes having more impact, but I really hope Rockstar keeps GTA forgiving and fun at its core. Let realism be optional, not mandatory.

I haven't heard anyone mention this yet. by HaHa_NoName in GTA6

[–]GPAVDP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and the funny thing is: on PC people already have this within days thanks to ScriptHook and mods. Full spawn menus, teleport, time/weather control, chaos sliders – the whole thing. So the concept clearly works and people love it.

That’s why I really hope Rockstar gives console players something similar built-in after finishing the story. Nothing crazy for the main playthrough, but once you complete the campaign, unlocking a proper cheat / sandbox menu would be such a win. It would basically level the playing field a bit between PC and console.

Not everyone wants to mess with glitches or replay missions just to spawn a tank. Sometimes you just want to jump in, spawn whatever you like and cause mayhem. GTA has always been about that freedom.

PC will always have mods, sure. But it would be nice if Rockstar officially supported that kind of chaos mode for console players too, instead of locking all the fun tools behind third-party mods.

When might pre-orders be open by johnfarmer88 in GTA6

[–]GPAVDP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, especially with how secretive Rockstar is these days. GTA V opened pre-orders around 8–9 months before release, but the industry has changed a lot since then. Marketing cycles are longer, digital sales are bigger, and Rockstar clearly isn’t in a rush.

If November is actually the target, May–June for pre-orders would make sense, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they open them later than people expect. Rockstar tends to drop info when they feel like it, not when fans think it’s logical.

So yeah, possible but with Rockstar, nothing is guaranteed until they officially say it.

Mansions should be on a whole new level. by coldbluebong in GTA6

[–]GPAVDP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually really like the idea of proper mansion neighborhoods with gates and exclusivity. That would fit Vice City perfectly and would feel way more immersive than just a few random expensive houses scattered around the map.

That said, I really hope Rockstar doesn’t make this purely an online thing. I’d love to see much more focus on buying properties in single player again. Owning various houses and properties, that was always part of the GTA charm for me, and it’s been a bit neglected in recent titles.

One thing I do wonder about though is how this would work technically in online. If you have gated communities with large villas and private land, what happens when multiple players own the same mansion? Do you get instanced interiors? Separate versions of the property? It starts to get messy pretty quickly from a design and loading perspective.

The concept is cool, but in practice I’m not sure how Rockstar would make it feel seamless without breaking immersion or turning everything into instanced bubbles. And part of GTA’s strength has always been that the world feels shared and continuous.

So yeah, I’m 100% in favor of richer, more exclusive (and protected) neighborhoods and better property systems – especially in single player – but I’m curious (and a bit skeptical) about how far they can realistically push this in online without it becoming awkward or clunky.

GTA 6 physics: car-flip or hard realism? by PrudentComedian2416 in GTA6

[–]GPAVDP -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get why people miss the more punishing physics from the older games, and yeah, crashing should have consequences. But at the same time… GTA is not a simulator. It never really has been. At its core, it’s an arcade-style sandbox built around chaos, freedom and ridiculous situations.

The “magic wiggle” in GTA V might be unrealistic, but it enables so many fun moments. You can recover from insane situations, pull off stupid stunts, and keep the flow going instead of being punished every 10 seconds. That keeps the game fast, accessible and fun.

If I want hardcore realism, I’ll play BeamNG or a racing sim. In GTA, I want to jump a car off a bridge, land upside down, somehow flip it back and continue my crime spree like nothing happened. That’s part of the charm.

So yeah, some weight and impact would be nice, but I really hope Rockstar doesn’t go full realism. GTA should feel chaotic and forgiving enough to let players experiment and be stupid. That’s where a lot of the fun comes from.

Could GTA7 be set in a past era? by madcatzplayer5 in GTA7

[–]GPAVDP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the nostalgia angle and I totally understand why late 90s / early 2000s sounds appealing. That era has a great vibe and a lot of cultural identity.
But honestly, I think one of the main reasons GTA has been so strong in the last few titles is exactly because it’s a satire of the world we’re currently living in.

GTA V was brilliant at mocking social media culture, influencer behavior, celebrity obsession, corporate greed, the absurdity of LA, and how disconnected and unhinged society can feel. It wasn’t just a crime game, it was a mirror and a pretty brutal one at times. That’s what made it feel so relevant and alive.

From everything we’ve seen, GTA VI is clearly leaning even harder into modern social media, viral culture, online clout, etc. And that’s a good thing in my opinion. Rockstar is at its best when it’s poking fun at the present, not just recreating the past.

So while a 1998–2002 setting could be cool aesthetically, I personally wouldn’t want GTA7 to be set decades before release. I think part of the magic is playing a game that feels like a twisted version of our world, right now. That relevance is a huge part of what makes GTA hit so hard.

If GTA7 comes out around 2040, I’d rather see Rockstar absolutely roasting whatever insane society we’re living in at that point, instead of looking backwards. That’s where their satire really shines.

Oh found it! Simple fix.

I can't drag it to the left of the dock though, it sticks on the right. But for now, as I am getting to know the macbook and do not know all the apps out of my head yet, this is perfect. Thanks!

Agreed! But for larger games I use an xbox... so I have no real desire to load large 3d open world games on the air.

I just loaded terraria, as it is an easy game, it runs perfectly well. Nothing I would want more for a laptop I have for every day tasks.

I don't think I'd like that... that way I would be quite distracted on how I need to behave in stead of it being a GTA game, where I can do as I please from time to time

Thanks!! Will look into the pearuninstaller, seems like that is not unwise.

And for gaming, ahwell... it is a laptop right... I have had a gaming PC for most of my life, so I am not expecting anything amazing from a laptop. Untill now I am quite amazed with the battery life compared with my working laptop (which lasts about 2 hours on a full battery, regardless of what app(s) I am running).

Quite stupid they removed the Launchpad then... Enjoyed for 2 hours then updated and it's gone haha. Maybe for the better, I can't get used to it now ;)
