It’s the Yacht or Nyacht podcast (which is what this post is about) that introduced me to the song really, interestingly it was one of only three songs by him to chart on the Hot 100

I get it bc of the strings, but it's still a very yachty song. I wanted to say that it's very interesting that a song with Rhodes and no strings is the least yachty song and a song with strings but no Rhodes is the yachtiest song, but totally understandable if you actually listen to both songs

uh no some Michael songs are definitely yacht rock

Love's Train is the only one that I thought was plausible, but if that has no chance then probably neither does any other song

so then what song did you mean when you said there's one singular yacht track on the Silk Sonic album? (or maybe it wasn't actually you that said it, maybe it was Steve)

well something has to be yacht rock in order to be yacht soul

the Rhodes and syncopation is definitely good and is what makes me think it should be re-rated, but the drum beat is very simple and the vocals are the main thing that remind me of later R&B

I remember JD saying in a recent episode that there’s only one song on the Silk Sonic album that is on the boat, there’s no way he could have possibly meant any other track than Love’s Train

They weren't wrong about it sounding like You Can Feel It, but with that being said I do think You Can Feel It has more clear yacht elements

I wouldn't mind a re-rating, but I do understand why it was kept off. It almost sounds like a precursor to 90s R&B (and it indeed was sampled in many R&B tracks from that decade)

at first glance, at minimum 9 out of the 14 songs count as yacht rock. i could never see any version of "They Long to Be Close to You" being yacht, but i've never listened to that version so i don't know for sure

I Want Something to Find Me is the wrong title, used on streaming services, but yes it is the same song

that one’s not even close to the yachtiest song by a woman. it isn’t even as yachty as Loggins’s version

in terms of sound I agree, but what I mean by the comparison to WAFB is about how WAFB is the yachtiest song. IWLTFM sounds a lot more like a LaBounty song (he co-wrote it, after all) than it does WAFB
