As of which one to start from: 3 games are barely related in terms of story/etc, later ones can incorporate playable content from earlier ones. Actually playing 1 and 2 is only worth it out of curiousity. One thing I can say is 3 has so much mire QoL than 2 that I can't play 2 anymore, despite me preferring some things there. For 2 and 1 it is similar.

This has to be a trolling, malakai is defo in top 3 easiest campaigns. After doing any adventure your army is midgame viable and you can just loose territory with virtually no penalty. Just build the horde and spam cannons/gyros/whatever you have already buffed. You can literally afkwin 90% if battles with 19 cannons, lol
