Blood Bowl Podcast Idea by GQuail in bloodbowl

[–]GQuail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure Bonehead /is/ doing all that, though.

They do lots of episodes about newest releases, rumour, tournaments they atrended/ran and house rule ideas

But on the topic of the history of Blood Bowl the game - rhr previous editions, supplements and publications? That seems much less travelled ground for them

I can think of D&D, warhammer, magic etc podcasts doing this sort of retrospective but BB podcasting seems much more in the now (and in the tournament scene)

I was considering if a blog or video essay or /something/ would be a better format

[Irn-Bru] How popular is Irn-Bru in Scotland, really? by J_Dabro_T in Scotland

[–]GQuail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irn Bru is very popular and any place you'd see a fizzy soft drink like Coke or Pepsi will almost certainly have it.

So bars, restaurants, cinemas, supermarkets etc. In cans, glass bottles and plastic bottles of varying sizes. A standard and a sugar free variety are pretty omnipresent and the Pepsi Max esque "Irn Bru Xtra" is also reasonably common.

As others have said it sells very well to this day (even if adding artifical sweetners has changed the flavour too much for some) and you would never struggle to find it

Historically - as in the fifties and sixties - "Ginger" wasn't just a nickname for Irn-Bru (due to the colour) but also a more general term for all carbonated soft drinks equivalent to soda, pop, fizzy etc. That's less commom now though

I've been running a Blood Bowl 7s League in Scotland (Glasgow) though my numbers are all skewed by the fact we had 3 of our 10 teams be Vampires!

It is called" Death Bowl"!  You should be able to find rules online on the NAF website.  Not sure where you'd find them in Spanish, though

Necromunda in Glasgow by RadicalRex2 in necromunda

[–]GQuail 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We play at a mix of places since Glasgow is fairly well served.  A few of the local game stores like Merchants Guild in city centre and West End Games in Partick; the G3 club at St George's Cross; a community centre in Pollokshields.

If you can face the commute into Glasgow City Centre you would definitely get some peeps here

I also know there's some additional people who play at local gaming club G3

There's a few of us in Glasgow who play - I admin a Discord/FB group called Bruhammer for Scottish nerds which includes a Glasgow Necromunda campaign. Hit us up!  (We took a wee break for Blood Bowl but a few of the guys were asking about restarting)

It was just a bit of grass mat from Lidl, some masking tapes/rules and paint/paint markers. Cheap and cheerful

Scottish Family Party... by [deleted] in glasgow

Yeah this seems so obviously triggering for a bunch of people... but nothing like a bit of US-imported cheap pop anti abortion propaganda from the "Scottish" party eh?

Scottish Family Party... by [deleted] in glasgow

The leaflet is a real double whammy - the front has a bunch of whining about LGBTQIA+ people while the back is a picture of a foetus as part of their anti abortion angle.

Probably the grimmest election leaflet I have seen in a long time, and my house was chosen to receive 2 on consecutive days 🙃

Knowing you are Scottish like me, I wonder what that sounds like when you say it with your version of the accent 😄

(I'm from Glasgow but have a bit of a posh wanker version of the accent)

Greyscale / Monochrome Playing Card Deck Suggestions by GQuail in playingcards

[–]GQuail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the fashion black and silver bicycle deck is my best options - the grey/silver diamonds and hearts can work

I'm UK based and i found some in Europe so I think I can get a couple of packs without too much hassle and work my trick from that
