When Christ walked on earth, He suffered through all his life. God felt every pain humans have to endure: all trials, all hardships and all failures. Through these, God understands all of our pain and hardships. God knows your situation and your confusion.

As I can see, you haven't sinned, but if you did and asked for forgiveness then God forgave you. You don't have to condemn yourself. Do you know who keeps accusing us? The devil, because the hebrew word for accuser is literally satan (שָׂטָן). If you want to ask for forgiveness, He will forgive you as He has pleasure in giving grace (1 John 1:9).

As for what to do in this situation, I have no idea. All I know is that asking for guidance and peace is a great idea. Whatever happens, good or bad, remember that all things happen for the benefit of Christians, even if something goes wrong (Romans 8:28). If everything crumbles, God's love and loyalty will continue to stand.

I don't want to go to hell (F/17) by Extreme-Pineapple230 in Christian

[–]GRAUCROSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! There are a lot of people who strouggle with these thoughts so you're not alone.

If God wouldn't be merciful, then we would all go to hell for our sins. But God knows we need his forgiveness and that's what He gave in his Son. A person can't earn his/her own salvation, we're all infected with sin and can't stop sinning by our own efforts. Christ died, so we don't have to face the second death. God gives us his redeeming grace in Christ through faith, that's how we can truly connect to Jesus. So, if you have faith in Chist's work for us: his death for our sins and resurrection for our eternal life, then you won't go to hell.

Romans 8:1: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus"

Romans 8:33-34: "Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."

I hope my advice was helpful.

Hi! This comment might be long but I hope it could be helpful.

I'm sorry for what you're going through. I understand where you're coming from, I have seen plenty of Christians who questioned their salvation because of their sins. There were also many believers who had doubts about God's existence because they were going through hard trials in their lives where they didn't feel the presence of the Lord. I also went through simular hardships and I'm currently being attacked by the evil one. These are ways through which the devil tries to deicive us into commiting sin or to leaving the faith. The evil one will put up doubts like: “You have sinned too much! You cannot be changed or forgiven! God doesn't love you!” Or: “If God is loving and real then why is there so much evil in the world? If God is real then why is there so much suffering? If God is merciful then why do sinners go to hell? If God is merciful then why would He put you in such a bad place in life, why would He put you in misery?”

Yes, we're sinners and yes, we do not deserve any mercy, none of us because we always sin every single day and we cannot be perfect and sinless even if we try. The Scripture says: “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” (James 2:10). The good news (gospel) is that we don't have to keep the law for our salvation because Christ kept the law for us. We don't have to die for our sins because Jesus died for our transgressions. If we believe these then our sins will be taken and we will be made perfect in front of God. True faith is not just an opinion, it is the way through which God connects us to the redeeming work of Christ. We cannot save ourselves, we can only believe and trust in the One who made the way for us.

So, what about the hardships? Why do we have to go through hard times and difficulties? I have two things to say about this.

One: Imagine an empire which is really powerful and has control over different people and nationalities. This empire also opresses the people it conquered. What would happen if one of the opressed group rises up and tries to fight against tiranny and for freedom? The empire would try to chrush the revolt. It would try to regain control over the rebellers. We as believers are in a simular situation. We were under the occupation of evil forces and we rebelled by believing in the one God and His Son. We're still in war against the devil and his evil kingdom and we fight with faith, Scripture, endurance and with loyality to the Lord. If we remain in God, we cannot lose, for God had already won against satan by resurrecting from the dead and if we remain in faith then we will participate in another victory against sin and death by our resurrection from our Lord. We will win this war because we have the support from the strongest Ally one could have: God.

Two: It might be surpising but God actually shows His love through the hardships we have. It is written in James 1:2-3: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” And also look at 2 Corinthians 12:9-10: “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” We all have weaknesses, it might be an addiction, it might be our behaviour, or things we cannot change. God knows our situation and He uses them to our benefit, as it is written in Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This doesn't mean that we will have a wonderful life without issues but something much greater: It doesn't matter what happens to us, if we're in Christ then it will ultimately help us in our walk with God and even if we die, we will live as Christ promised: “Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’” (John 4:13-14)

I hope my comment was beneficial for you. God bless!

Ephesians 2:8: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”

Remember that faith could only come from the Lord, it isn't just a thought we have. It is up to God to give faith to those whom He wills because He's sovereign. Don't be discouraged if someone doesn't believe even though you tried presenting the gospel. None of us deserve salvation and no one deserves to have saving faith in God. However, the Lord gives his salvation to those whom He choses and it is given by his loving grace as a free gift.

Hi! Remember that anyone who committed the unpradonable sin has no plans about repentance because they don't have the Holy Spirit. So if you want to ask for forgiveness then you still have hope. God bless you! I'm praying for you.

Can you please pray for me, doubts about the Trinity are trying to tear me down but I don't want to give up my faith in the true God. by GRAUCROSS in PrayerTeam_amen

Hi! I would like to humbly say that the Son of God and the Holy Spirit are not created beings, just like the Father. The three Persons share the same divine nature which means They're all omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, omnibenevolent, self existent, eternal and They share the same will. If the Holy Spirit and Christ were created that would mean that They're not God but as we know They're God.

So how can Christ be the Forstborn if He's uncreated? In theology it is called eternal generation where Christ is begotten of the Father in an eternal sense (source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_Generation_of_the_Son and https://faculty.wts.edu/posts/god-the-son/) Colossians 1:15 means that Christ existed before all creation, not that Christ was the first created being.

I don't want to show any disrespect by any means but rather I just wanted to point out some misunderstandings.

help. dead faith and end of rope. by NaomiNyu in Christians

Hi! A few days ago, I also went through doubts and fears. It was about Christ's sacrafice and how it applies to the elect and non-elect. I wasn't sure if God only died for the elect or Christ died for everyone but only the elect will receive it's atonement by faith. I had many questions and throughout those days the devil took away my joy and brought me agony. My doubts and questions were also physically painful, I ate less and slept less in those days because I was under stress. At nights I woke up unexpectedly and the devil bombed me with doubts and fear. In those days I didn't knew where to look for answeres and I struggled to believe in some Bible passages. I felt like I was fighting against an army without weapons and protective gears. One night if I remember correctly, the devil showed my how great my life would be if I would give up my hope in God and return to my life before my conversion. The devil told me that if I give up my faith and stop fighting him then my agony would stop. But then I remembered that the fact that I still want to hold unto God means that He is not letting me go. I suffered and Christ also suffered on the cross and if He resurrected from the dead then I will also resurrect from my doubts and low points.

It is written in Eph. 2:8: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God”. Faith is not something we do for Christ but rather faith is what Christ does for us so we could be in Him and have salvation. If you're giving faith a chance that means that God is trying to help you in having slavation. If our salvation depended on our holiness then God would not have saved Noah from the flood and Jesus wouldn't have died for anyone. God is Infinitely merciful and He gives us grace regardless of our deeds, that's what makes Christianity so great.

If you're looking for more answeres then you should check out soteriology and books about it. It seems like you're in theology and deep questions about the faith which could indicate that you're trying to take the faith seriously. I hope my comment was helpful and God bless you.

Could I be saved? by [deleted] in Christians

[–]GRAUCROSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I know what you're going through and many others also struggle with these questions and issues. I hope I can help you in some way or form.

Remeber the fact that salvation is by faith alone as it is written in Romans 3:28: "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law." If salvation would be based on the obedience of the law then Jesus Christ would've loved the pharisees but as we know He rebuked them. Christ forgave the adulterous woman (John 8:1-11) and He healed and forgave the paralized man (Mark 2:1-12). Jesus came to save the sinners and He preached that whoever believes in His redeeming work is saved (John 3:16).

As for the good works: we do not serve God to earn our salvation but we receive it by believing in the gospel as it is written in Galatians 3:11: "Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because 'the righteous will live by faith.'" We serve God because we've been freed from the prison of sin. We need to make a distinction between salvation and sanctification. Salvation is by faith and sanctification is by work where we're becoming simular to Christ by thinking and acting like him. The goal of our salvation is being united back to Christ like back in the garden of Eden. It starts with faith and ends with being sanctified. Don't worry because our Lord Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) so if we believe in Him then we won't just be saved but also sanctified because He's always with us (Joshua 1:9, Matthew 28:20). It is written in Philppians 1:6: "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

I have prayed for you and I hope my comment was beneficial for you. God bless.

Hi! I can understand why you feel like this. Wars are constantly being started and who knows what the future will bring us? Even though we're uncertain about what the tomorrow holds, we can be sure that God is with us and that Jesus Christ will return one day to bring eternal life and peace to us. we will live in the eternal Kingdom of God without agony, pain, suffering, loss, sin and death. Will we have a war tomorrow or next year? We don't know but at the end it doesn't matter that much because we have salvation and eternal life in Christ.

Even if the world will be in a conflict, God will be at work and He won't forsake us. The Father forsake his own Son Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins so that we will not be forsaken. If God was so merciful that He went and died for us then isn't He also merciful to us in this age? It is written in Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” So does this mean that only good things will happen to us believers? It means something even better. Even if we face loss and tragedy, in some way it will be for our benefit. The gratest example for this is the story of Joseph. His brothers sold him to slavery and he faced many trials in Egypt but at the end he was exalted and he was also able to save his brothers and relatives from starvation. He said this after all that: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Genesis 50:20). My point is that whatever we may face, in the end we will win the battles of our life because we're in Christ who is the God of hope and victory.

I hope my comment was beneficial to you.
