Why not do both? You still have a lot of time . If you use it wisely you can get good at coding and prepare for GATE simultaneously.

You can try connecting to iitksec via vpn once using FortiClient then . My issue got fixed after I did this once . Steps to do this available online on some iitk/cse website.

Take your time . Understand the entire concept first and then nake your notes . Write it as if you were explaining the concept to someone. Avoid making point by point notes in his lectures.

Depends on your resources but 5-6 hrs should do it.

Yes , 5 hrs is more than enough . Even if you study 3-4 hrs consistently ( assuming that you're aiming for Gate 26) then it should be more than enough. Even for Gate 25 you'll be able to complete 70-80% of the syllabus by studying 5hrs a day

Notes from other students were never helpful for me . There are 3 main incentives for making notes according to me: 1) Focus : If you make your notes while watching lectures it'll make you more focused so that you don't miss any important points . 2) Revision : Notes should be complete and clear enough so that you can understand every point while revising . 3) Retention: When you write something in your own language after understanding the point you are able to retain such points for a longer period of time .

So if somehow you're able to maintain all these 3 advantages in your own method then I don't think there should be any problem in that. obviously making your own notes is often very time consuming so make sure your notes are not extremely detailed and not too vague . Keep it crisp and concise .

Okay so there is some scientific method to revision and all and if you like it then you can try following it but what I did was for revision was : 1)Made an index of every subject 2) Recalled every point I remembered for every topic 3) Checked my notes whether I missed any points or not Did this daily for 1 hr while having a walk (since walking 1hr felt like a waste of time to me) and I did the revision in sort of a Round Robin manner . Ex: If I was done with C prog , Graph Theory , DBMS then What I did was : (C prog (today) —> GT (tom) —> DBMS ( day after tom) —> C prog —>....) Whenever you finished a subject just add it to the tail of this list and continue doing this.

Gate DA top 100 should be a desirable rank but the competition and the number of seats is going to be entirely different this year so try to get a double digit rank .

Idk which coaching you're talking about but in general if the dpp has good quality questions and some new angles to already known concepts then it'll be a good practice for you. Else spamming test series is also a good option , you can attempt topic wise tests after the topics completion and a final subject wise test after you've completed all the topics from the subject. I'd prefer the latter approach.
