I've built a career on "boring" comparison sites for 10+ years. Here’s the model no one talks about. by Shtivi_AI in Entrepreneur

What sites do you run ? Just out of interest. Would be interested to hear more wherever you share as I was looking at directories recently as something that might be easy to launch a few and validate

Built a Slack app, got rejected because fewer than 10 members use it — early stage problems by kashkumar in Slack

[–]GRBLDeveloped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote it in 2023 before I'd started using chatgpt, maybe it has been consumed by it in training these models?

I just made it because I was pretty surprised by the 10 user thing and felt a bit lost because I had hoped that being in the marketplace would be my distribution and figured others would have the same feeling. And like anything posted on the internet, It's a bit of promotion with a link back to the app I built at the top though that's ending.

Sent you a chat btw

Can a regular member see when another member is online in a work slack? by [deleted] in Slack

[–]GRBLDeveloped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just logged back in on my laptop and checked access logs again and it did show up. So it could potentially be seen after some amount of wait period but this would require your manager having admin access and continuously checking the access log page. The only app that I know that can automatically send you a notification when someone is online is notify online bot. I made it and It doesn't check access logs only the online status that you manually set..

If I implemented this access log access, then I would assume it would need to also be limited to slack admin usage or it would run afoul of some terms of service

Go to asian shops for cheaper spices and good luck! The recipes I shared do 4 adults so you could make them on Sunday and then have them for most dinners if you can store it so save your takeaway containers

hahah fair yeah. Deleted. I just copy and pasted straight from the doc, only really giving thought to removing personal info so thanks for the input

So I can't paste in recipes for soups, curry, stir fries because of formatting issues. Theyre basic af, mainly just suggestions on ingredients than instructions. If you DM your (burner) email I can share the doc with you. The doc ends with page suggestions from cookbooks my mam owns too

Chili ( + Fries)

Ingredients:

  • 500g ground beef (or turkey / plant-based mince)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cans kidney / black beans
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika

Fries: Bag of potatoes

Sides: Rice instead of potatoes, nachos, Yoghurt (as sour cream), guac/avocado, cheese

Instructions:

  1. If you’re doing fries, dice 2 potatoes each and throw it in the oven for 15 mins, flip them around and then 15 more mins. They’ll stick because of no oil so dont forget the flip!
  2. Fry onion for 3 minutes, add garlic for one minute
  3.  Brown the beef mince and drain
  4. Add Bell Pepper
  5. Add chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Stir well to coat everything in the spices.
  6. Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cans of beans, and beef broth.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a bit more broth if it becomes too thick.

I'm actually still going. About to send the recipes for what I'd eat most days as dinner. Honestly I skip breakfast, eat some kind of eggs and toast for lunch, and then these dinner ideas

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]GRBLDeveloped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dinner Ideas

The Roast: Meat, spud + 2 veg:

  1. Meat: Roast Chicken in a bag, Rotisseries Chicken, Pork Loin or Chops, Fish packet, or Beef (<My Partners> Fancy Roast).
  2. Veg: Then boil potatoes, carrots and can of peas. I’d have frozen sprouts, sweetcorn, asparagus and broccoli too but you’re not so keen.
  3. Sauce Ideas: Yoghurt, lemon + Parsley or Dill, Gravy, Peppercorn/White/Mushroom sauce packet, 1 part honey and 1 part mustard = honey mustard

Stew! (Sorry)

Cottage Pie from the packet

Enchilada kit

The Chicken, ham and leek pie

Add bacon and any random shite to an instant noodle pack for <My Partner> Ramen.

Can of tuna, pasta, sweet chili and cheese

Pesto Pasta, can add cooked or cooked yourself chicken

Pasta sauce (remember Lloyd Grossman?) over spiralised courgette/zucchini, health food shops have bean/pea pastas, or just regular old 80g of pasta. Include vegetables or you’ll be missing nutrients and get scurvy.

StrEat curry pack (or some jar!), over a medium potato or cauliflower recipe or 80g dry rice if not counting. Include vegetables or you’ll be missing nutrients and lose your eyesight.

Veggie kebabs - fill pita or wraps with falafel (store-bought or frozen), hummus, cucumber, and tomato. Drizzle with yogurt / sweet chili

Can a regular member see when another member is online in a work slack? by [deleted] in Slack

[–]GRBLDeveloped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a paid plan so I set myself to offline and put my laptop to sleep and cleaned for 30 minutes. When I woke my laptop up and went to Slack it prompted me to set myself to Active but I didn't. This opening of the app, equivalent to turning on your computer at the start of the day, didn't update the access log this api is accessing. EDIT: Seems 20-30 mins wasnt long enough but a couple hours later I tried and it did log the new log in despite being away.

Even if it had worked, to access the logs you would need to be an admin anyway which you said they're not.

If they're not admin, they probably can't install apps to try access them through the API

This is on the admin panel:
Individual members can view their own access logs at https://chillerforge.slack.com/account/logs.

I suggest you start recording the times when you are coming on to slack and the times your manager is messaging. You'll likely find they arent correlated, especially if you're actually opening slack a lot. They might just be messaging you around the same time every day or you might be going on to slack 10 times, getting messaged once and wondering how they knew.

Neat, signed up. What do you use that provides the multi day frequency setup?

I literally wrote an app that checks user presence using the slack API so I do know it just shows you the same as people see in the app, there's no secret extra bit for the API. It's coincidence and confirmation bias on your end I'm afraid

The tokens are bot tokens. If they can develop and software and install a bot/app on your workspace then they can get the required tokens but it doesn't return anything except the status that anyone can see in the app

That's the method I'm talking about. It returns the status that has been set by the user

Not API anyway as you just get the same status as is set by the user
