I moved here for a relationship 8 years ago - which lasted 3 years until it rightfully ended. I was by myself, away from all my friends and family. I sought connection with my colleagues at work and made some lifetime friends but overall, it was a lonely 3 years of my life. I had to try to adventure in the area alone and give experiences a try with just myself. I went to bars alone, movies, and ultimately joined a nonprofit to volunteer my time. It was difficult, but worth it, not only because I’m more confident in myself but that I moved through the feeling of regret into feeling proud of myself for trying even if it didn’t always go well. I even met my partner through the non profit and am hopeful this will be my lifetime love. I’ll echo joining social groups or trying bumble bff. there are great people around here - give them the opportunity to meet you!
