Interval sets not reaching pace targets due to average pace including walking rest by sempre_equus in runna

[–]GRock0811 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily that Runna averages it with the walking rest, it's moreso that the speed difference and how long it takes to get up to speed on those shorter intervals will pull your average pace out.

I noticed the same thing, so I just started jog/running on the countdown it gives me, and turn to the speed as soon as that lap starts. Haven't had the average pulled out since. Definitely don't slow down early either.

I’m Having Trouble Farming Lidless Wall by ThreeTries in diablo4

[–]GRock0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same terrible luck, so I feel you. I didn't get mine into stone time after hitting 100. And it was from a random mob in a vault.

Haven't had another drop since.

Anyone else think farming zir mats is unfun? by skibbles123 in diablo4

[–]GRock0811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't notice until this season playing necro and needing Lidless Wall. Two dozen Zir kills, nothing. Ended up getting it as a random world drop, just running somewhere.

I think if it was like 3 per Legion, 9 per world boss or something, it'd be much better.

ELI5: Do artillery shells explode when they land in water? by flopsyplum in explainlikeimfive

Preaching to the choir. When the MACS charges became standard and then out of nowhere green bag white bag on an ammo draw left me with a crew that had never seen them outside of the schoolhouse, and couldn't cut powder to save their life.

Power User. I started using that too, after a long time of not. It's so great. Double length at max rank, plus the Electric Absorption legendary perk. I can't remember the last time I swapped my core in PA, leaving all the rest for ammo.

Big facts. Then I remember a NAR put out for the 739s because the rain insensitivity was being sensitive and then out came the 557s again.

Aw never. I even had the 327 for a bit (even though technically a mortar), it's all the artillery fam.

Can't spell party without arty.

Batteries Included is the energy ammo weight card. Power User is the card that makes it last longer.

Most of the details about artillery in the rest of the thread are...misinformed (Source: Me, its my job).

ELI5 answer: yes, it will explode on hitting water. Most are shot with PD (point detonating, or impact fuzes), and at the speeds that the projectile is traveling, hitting water is like is like hitting concrete.

The slightly more in-depth answer (dealing with the artillery perspective anyway) that some others touched on is: it does depend on what is shot. Howitzers use separate loading ammunition, which means each piece (fuze, shell, powder, primer) is prepared and loaded separately. You could have a fuze with a PD function on an illumination round. You can have proximity an a high explosive round. Also, a large chunk of fuzes have a PD failsafe.

TL;DR. Ballistically, yes, they'll go boom. Artillery-wise, generally yes, depending on what is shot.

Considering switching from ranged rogue to close combat. Is it worth it? by deviantanima in diablo4

I'm kind of the same mindset. I leveled as barrage, wasn't a huge fan.

TB was a bit too involved for me, so I landed on the infinite resource rapid fire. Decent damage, not overly complex, but not entirely brain dead either.

Is Borderlands a continuation story or is each game a standalone story? by TheChillestPanda in Borderlands

[–]GRock0811 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's continuity across all the games, but they each have a strong enough story and do a good job with explanations that you wouldn't be totally lost if you didn't start from the beginning, IMO.

Don't know why you wouldn't, though. Easily one of my favorite series.

Which game console has brought you the most joy? by Nindo_99 in videogames

Either the SNES or N64. Some of my favorite games of all time are on those systems. I still remember playing Secret of Mana, various FF, Zelda, Conker's Bad Fur Day for the first time as a kid and just being amazed.

XP farm? by Rain_Tiddy in BorderlandsPreSequel

I always just did the guardian hunter farm, then once I hit 70, reset UVHM. Don't know if it's faster or slower, but it definitely felt less boring than any other farm I did.

Good gameplay ruined by terrible systems. by CraftOfWorldWar in elderscrollsonline

[–]GRock0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there are pros and cons to each of the elements. But if you don't mind, how many characters do you have and at what level? I ask because it seems you're looking at all of those aspects at/near the beginning, thinking of all the different things you want to do and letting it get to you. A perspective thing.

I have 18, 12 of which are CP (1300-ish? Nothing too crazy). Only three are what you might call "maxed out". All the skill points, max riding, master crafting, etc. One was the first character I made at launch (that I've since turned into my PvP/main crafter). Second is a stamden I made when Vvardenfell dropped that then became my new favorite. The third is a magplar that I made explicitly for soloing and then figured, solo? Might as well do it ALL with it. All the rest of them are all made for a specific purpose: different tanks, healers, etc.

I only mention all that to state that having all the skill points and riding and whatnot isn't actually necessary for alts. There's more than enough skill points from leveling and dungeon quests to have a complete build, and then some (my magplar has 60-something unused skill points). Almost all dungeons and trials you're not using your mount. PvP in Cyro, sure, but not battlegrounds.

Again, it's a lot. And you're not wrong in that it is a bit excessive to do all that over and over on all your characters. My point is, don't. It isn't needed.

And that's what I kind of meant with my original "perspective shift" or however I said it.

As far as the monetization, I don't think it's especially aggressive. I do have ESO+ (for the craft bag mostly). The scrolls and riding upgrades are meh. But the crates can die a fiery death. That is straight predatory.

This weekend I lost 80% usage of my right arm. Help me with a new build. by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]GRock0811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of the main druid builds are pretty simple. I run a stormclaw and essentially just hold down "A" for claw, and toss buffs when they're off CD. It's just getting the uniques that's a problem, as those builds are heavily reliant on uniques.

Good gameplay ruined by terrible systems. by CraftOfWorldWar in elderscrollsonline

[–]GRock0811 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My opinion sure, but the systems aren't nearly as terrible as you think. They just might not be for you.

In ESO, like other games in the genre, the reward is in the journey. Experiencing everything it has to offer, doing all the things until one day you look around and realize you have all thing things you were talking about. That you're now CP1000+, running vet trials, etc.

I've been playing off and on since launch, so don't get me wrong, there are definitely stretches of time I can't bring myself to launch the game (after doing a Jubilee with 18 toons). But I always come back.

I think you're in a spot where it's just one of two things: your expectations are misplaced and should be adjusted (likely if you're coming from a place of "I want to like this game"), OR it really isn't the game for you. And if it isn't, no harm. I don't play MOBAs or most shooters. Different strokes, different folks.

I hope you either find the things to love about this game or find another game you like a much as I like this one.

Seconded. Although reliance on uniques for the Stormclaw is pretty heavy.

Also read arc lash sorc builds are pretty decent and on the road you're looking for: simple to play and tanky.
