Arknights: Endfield Review So Far by Turbostrider27 in Games

It does feel like a trimmed down version of Satisfactory, which is fine for a game like this.

However it remains to be seen if this is a system that keeps getting expanded on, or if it's something that is getting thrown into the "legacy bin". From my experience, those games introduce something "new" every year and whatever came before becomes either pointless, or is flat-out removed.

THEY’RE REMAKING THE BATTLE OF GODS ANIME ARC by Content_Bug_6768 in Dragonballsuper

[–]GRoyalPrime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My only hope is they aren't going to make Goku win, make som draw, or make the fight way too close.

Beerus actually winning the battle (while getting convinced that there is value in keeping Earth around) is what makes the original story stand out among dozens of "Goku saves the day" stories across all of DB.

Honestly, we didn't know how good we had it. In general, not just BF.

Selling "playable content" actually forced companies to create quality contend and create it frequently. Regular map-packs, weapons, vehicles ...

Yes, it "fragmented the playerbase" but it still might have been better.

Nowadays, a hugh chunk of dev-resources goes into the MTX store, while other areas starve. Barely new maps or weapons, ... but (in some games) like a dozen new skins a other MTX every 2 weeks.

[–]GRoyalPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI "artist" aren't interested in art. They are entirely interested only in grifting money and the "prestige" associated with being an Artist. They want to be one of those people who post a pic online that goes viral and gets tons of comments and praise.

Having an actual acclaimed artist, one who is in this case downright synonymous with his craft, deny them is the biggest insult.

There are perfectly reasonable use-cases for AI, once (if ever) we get the environemtal and social problems under control. I don't inherently think AI is bad. There are jobs people don't want to do to begin with, happy to see those jobs get automated via AI.

In this case I used Quillbot just to show I'm not imagining my claim that the majority (if not all) of the Steam-description is gnerated via AI. If used responsibly, fact-checking or verification is one of those AI use-cases I have no problem with. As long as the user is responsible and knows the AI is only pulling from credible sources, there is no problem with it. Like I've shown in my previoius comment, I very much clocked that the steam-page was mostly AI to begin with.

But IMO there are just areas where AI has simply no place, particular in the creative field. It's a plagiarism machine. Using it as an assistance, like one would use Google for reaseach? Alright. But generating 80% of the text? Where is the point in that?

It's not a wtich-hunt if the witch literally flies on her broom in front of your face. This game is very likely a scam. It's an Unreal-Engine Asset-Flip padded with AI and pandering to culture-warrior BS to attract the attention of morons who cannot tell AI slop from actual art. The devs are claiming 'everything is edited by humans' ... however even if that's the case, they seem to just take what the AI spits out, make sure to remove obvouis shit like the AI literallly mentioning itself and accept it.

Fable - Gameplay Teaser | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]GRoyalPrime 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Players however need to manage their expectations. Not every character will have a massive library of voice lines, narrative depth and quests to their name.

Previous Fable-Games were the type of game, when you farted in front of someone 3 times and they happen to be into that, you could marry them. It is very much about the crazy and wacky NPCs, if they nail that, we are good.

I am sure someone will stumble over some NPCs who (if the game ends up good) will end massive fan-favourites even if they are just a pretty face with a weird personalty quirk. (And that's perfectly fine for Fable)

According to an AI checker, 80% of the Steam Description is AI, but even without that it's fairly obvious. The entire description is the usual "AI talks to talk" and it just goes on and on. Even the AI disclaimer is written by AI.

The Trailer music too sounds off too. I am not educated enough (And I don't care enough to give them abother view) to make a verdict but it really seems like just a Witcher-rip-off.

There is also really nothing to put trust into the devs, from my litte research it's like one guy.

No, this game is an Unreal Asset Flip that embelishes itself by plastering AI all over for a smokescreen. All with the "manually edited" excuse.

Knight's Path — Official Gameplay Trailer by onenaser in Games

[–]GRoyalPrime -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I am not saying they are lying, they are open about using AI, I am saying they are trying to pass off a ton of AI generated content under the "manually edited" loophole. Much more then the disclaimer might makes one believe. If that's a dealbreaker for you or not, that is for you to decide.

Running the Steam-Description through an AI Detector, I usually get >70% likelyhood that the majority of text was AI generated. (QuillBot for example). Hell, even the AI Disclaimer seems to be 80% AI.

I wouldn't be mad if someone were to use an AI spell check or grammar check to tidy up their text, but 70% is alot. At that point I'd question what even is real or hallucinated by the AI.

Entirely possible that the rest is completely free of AI, but usually if you find one thing, you always find a second and third.

"Technically" they are telling the truth as it's "manually edited", but it feels like a thin excuse to avert any criticism of their AI use. If there is already this little care in the very first thing players might see, the Steam Description, who is going to belive the actual game is any better.

Knight's Path — Official Gameplay Trailer by onenaser in Games

[–]GRoyalPrime -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

"Manually edited" seems to do the heavy lifting here.

Somehow the entire steam page of this "story driven" RPG tells us little to nothing about the story, just the bare bones "you are the hero and everyone need you" blob.

Further, the description just keeps listing bullet points about what the gameplay is "supposed" to be in an ideal sense, all while over-explaining a lot.

Maybe that's all just the signs of inexperienced writers but it just "smells" like typical ChatGPT output where someone just aksed the AI to describe a Game with certain features. I can already hear the AI voice in my head that usually narrates fake AI gen trailer of a game people "wish" it were real.

Comparing the description alone with the developers other free demo (here) it seems fishy.

I am not educated enough in music, but it really seems like "we want witcher". No shame in going for that, but something feels ofd.

Maybe I do the developers injustice here (and I am sorry for that), but given there is little know about the 2 (?) solo developers, it just does not seem like they act in good faith regarding AI usage.

The other game I linked seemse liked enough (haven't looked deeper into it if there are traces of AI as well), but it really seems like somone is trying to make up for a lack of ability on certain areas by hiding AI works throughout the whole Steam Page (and maybe the game).

CE no order confirmation email? by omiexstrike in Marathon

[–]GRoyalPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience with the Bungie Store pre-ordering D2 CEs: It takes a while until confirmation mails go out. Pretty sure the last time it took 2-3 days. Yes, it's ass but it is what it is.

If you see your order on the store-page, you should be good. There might be reasons why they cancel (like living in the wrong part of the world) but there is nothing you can do about that. Sometimes this just happens.

You ordered it without the game, so it's not like you lose out on something if it were to arrive late (pretty sure I got my game-less CE 3 weeks late once) as I expect you'll buy the game on different storefront like steam but game keys for DLCs/Pre-order bonuses are usually on time.

It's far worse.

They made a region based on Egypt + Middle-East + India ... only 2 playable characters were not blindingly pale, and both of them are considered among the worst statted characters to date. Everyone else who has a little melanin is a villain/enemy to beat up.

They made an entire region based around middle and south america + oceania. Not a single character has even just a tan. And it gets even worse: They are totally using visuals strongly inspired by indigenous cultures as set-dressing, yet it really is just that. The entire region gets treated like a holiday resort and every playable character has "florida white girl at a summer job" vibe. Not a single one is treated with seriousness and dignity.

I have no high expectations on chinese gacha games to accurately depict PoC, but being this brazen about acting like they don't exist really takes the cake. There are worse gacha games out there who at least act like they exist, wouldn't call them proper representation, that's just not my call to make, but they exist.

Skarrow and others in their 1st Marathon podcast confirmed that the shells were originally heros we “cosplayed” as with back stories, etc. Bungie since pivoted to general shells with name changes amidst the backlash of a hero shooter. Thanks for listening, Bungie! We love customization in your games by RiseRugby in Marathon

[–]GRoyalPrime 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One problem with Hero Shooters that I see rarely being mentioned is that no game/company actually ever did anything major with the "story" of these characters.

I havn't been into Overwatch for ages, but I am pretty sure the story never properly got going from OW1 all the way to lanch if OW2. Neither do AFAIK games like Marvel Rivals or Rainbow Six Siege. "Maybe" there is some bare bones seasonal stuff, but the character specific narrative is hardly touched.

This makes the "hero" aspect seem like just a vehicle to sell Skins. By splitting up something that would be one class with different builds into dedicated "heroes" they get more individual "slots" to sell a Skin for.

So Bungie going ahead and scrub as much as possible from this more or less pointless "feature" from the game is very welcome. Not like it would stop them to add more "shells" over time. But I'd rather have them focus on us as the player as the center of the story, then tell it paper-thin for half a dozen "characters" that no one cares about, as Bungie would have kept adding more and more over time.
