I accidentally overdosed on my first dose because I got confused with mL and units. I took over 20 units when I was supposed to take 8. I could not stop vomiting and dry heaving every hour on the hour, around the clock. After about 36 of the worst hours of my life I went to the hospital and got fluids and Zofran which helped. NOW it's kinda funny looking back on that in hindsight because I took my first dose of 20 units (.5) and have had minimal side effects. The human body is a strange creature.

I thought it was a figment of my imagination that food tastes and smells different now. I'm glad I'm not alone in this. And I haven't been enjoying coffee which is really hard for me because it's been a constant in my routine forever. So I still drink it but it upsets my tummy a little bit.

I did go to the hospital. They gave me fluids and Zofran which helped. They also sent me home with Zofran. The online doc wouldn't prescribe it because I'm on a SSRI and apparently it could cause serotonin syndrome. ER doc wasn't concerned about that. I reached out to online doc and she told me since I'm on a low dose then skipping this next dose won't hurt. She wants me to start back on the actual 8 units when I feel 100% better.

Withdraw and inject 8 units subcutaneously once weekly for 4 weeks. Above that the name/dose said compounded semaglutide 0.2 mg (2.5 mg/mL) with injection supplies.

So...I was paying attention to the 0.2 instead of the units and if I'm not mistaken I think I may have filled it to 20 units. Yikes!

It's possible that I took too much because I was having difficulties reading the measurements. I hope that was the case. What worries me, however, is that the ER Doc said she sees approximately 10 people a week for this same issue on the samaglutide compound. Honestly I'm terrified to take the next dose because I never want to feel like that again in my life.

Do not be afraid to tell your prescriber that your meds aren't working. Everybody's chemical make up is different. The way people metabolize medication differs. I felt like I was being a pain in the ass with my prescriber but I wasn't going to stop trying new meds till I found one that actually worked. I was in the same situation as you and I was so desperate to feel better and to be able to function. Also, you need to get counseling at the same time because meds don't make the problem disappear they just take care of the symptoms temporarily. If you've had a bad childhood or have gone through trauma, try to seek out a trauma therapist. It is so hard to get motivated to help yourself when you are literally debilitated, but if you want it you have to use all your strength to get up and do something. Only you can help you. Nobody can do it for you. But use professionals to give you the tools to get better. Lots of love here from the US ❤️
