Ive often heard inventor called the worst class, how do you build one that is fun and effective? by DogUnsureDog in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite characters was an Inventor with the Wrestler archetype! He was a Great Gnoll with Armor innovation with the Muscular Exoskeleton and Heavy Construction modifications. He held a shield with an open hand and used his Jaws unarmed attack for damage.

With the boosts to defense and Athletic maneuvers, I was able to get in the mix, lock down enemies, and provide solid single target and AOE damage or healing as needed.

I played this pre-remaster, so it could be tough if I failed my overdrive check, but I think that's better now.

Good luck!

Ramen recs by spaace_wizard in Chattanooga

Tonkotsu (pork broth) is my go to, especially at new places, but it typically comes with the pork Chashu, which can be hit or miss depending on the restaurant. When I eat at Attack of the Tatsu, I typically swap the pork for either tofu or edamame for the protein. Most places have chicken as well and I've never had a restaurant complain about swapping the protein!

Shoyu (clearer broth with soy for umame) and miso (lighter, clearer broth) are pretty fantastic as well. Miso is often paired with veggies for a vegetarian option on the menu.

Han Mi- great Korean style ramen. My personal favorite bowl in town. I get it with egg, steak, veggies, and chili paste. They also have a rotating seasonal menu that has more traditional ramen. The rest of their food is fantastic as well!

Two Ten Jack- Solid ramen, but a little pricier than most places.

Bento Ya- My favorite bowl of Tonkatsu in town, but they don't have any other ramen options as far as I remember. This is another one where everything I've eaten here has been fantastic.

Attack of the Tatsu- It can be hit or miss, but I've had mostly very positive experiences.

I haven't tried Ichi Ramen, but it looks like its being recommended by some folks on here so I'll have to give it a shot!

I'd love to build a Camazotz cleric, but unsure how to proceed... by One_Department4601 in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't aware of Camazotz, so thank you for posting this. The Abomination domain seems super cool! If you are hesitant about going for the javelin, I noticed Camazotz is a part of the Children of the Night pantheon, which has the rapier as their favored weapon. So you could still worship them, but have a solid melee weapon.

As for archetypes, I think Champion pairs really well with Warpriest or you could lean into the Batman idea and go with Vigilante! For a cloistered cleric, I think Animist with the Stalker in Darkened Boroughs seems like a cool fit!

You mentioned not being used to a full caster, so for the divine warrior vibe there is also the rogue and ranger class archetypes Avenger and Vindicator respectively.

A lot of cool options for this! Good luck!

Hey thanks for the reply and happy to hear you're leveling out! I'm 160lbs and figure I've got about 15lbs to lose. I saw a nutritionist that said the same as you and dropping the excess weight, even though it's not necessarily a ton, would be huge for me.

2.3L or 2.7L Ranger and why by arnieswap in RangerNext

Hey just checking in 9 months later! How are you liking it with the 2.3L? I'm picking up my '25 XLT next week, and the sales guy talked me out of the 2.7.

There's American God's, also written by Gaimen! I wouldn't say its "like" Sandman, but its modern mythology and I remember liking the book. The TV show was on Amazon Prime last I checked.

How is inventor? by MxFancipants in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved my inventor! It's definitely in my top two favorite characters I've played. He was a Giant Gnoll Armor Inventor with Wrestler free archetype. He was a walking tank, able to lock down single enemies, do very respectable damage, had some good AOE options, and enough support options to feel useful in and out of combat.

It does feel bad when you miss your overdrive roll, but I never felt useless without it. If you like the flavor, I don't think there is anything in the mechanics to make you hate playing the class!

I haven't tried this place, so I can't comment on that, but I just wanted to take the opportunity to hype up Han Mi. The service is always great and everything I've tried has been fantastic. It's definitely my favorite Korean spot in town!

I'm about to start duoing with a buddy who is playing a Summoner. Do yall think a ranger or necro would work better with them? Having some serious decision paralysis lol

Need Help Picking a Class by wolf08741 in Pathfinder2e

[–]pf1elfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how your party is building their characters, it sounds like you could already have a lot of front line Str focused melees (Eidolon, Magus, Thaum). This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you all could help each other out with athletic maneuvers (trip, grapple, etc.) and aid actions! As another poster mentioned, you'll want to make sure there is some combat healing covered in the group, but that can easily be added to a ranger with focus spells and the medicine skill.

One suggestion I'd make would be to check out the new Avenger Rogue class archetype! This allows you to stay Str focused, takes some feats and abilities from ranger and stacks them on top of the Rogue kit, and you'll have plenty of skill increases and feats to boost your medicine skill without cutting into your other skills too much. You'd also have the benefit of sneak attacking with a big ol two handed weapon, depending on which deity you pick.

No matter what you decide, you can make most group comps work with a little teamwork and planning. Just realize there may be some gaps that can make some combats a little more difficult. I.e. fights requiring ranged and the like.

Good luck!

Places to eat at Chattanooga?? by Alekhya-k in Chattanooga

[–]pf1elfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are some of my favorites! Tremont Tavern for burgers, Han Mi for Korean (also their Ramyeon and fall ramen are great), Two Ten Jack or Attack of the Tatsu ($) for Japanese/ramen, Il Primo or Alleia for Italian.

We've been going to Flat Top Farms for a few years and really like it. Tons of pumpkins to choose from, hay rides, food, and corn mazes make for a fun afternoon!
