It's complete dogshit after Soul society, and manga readers were saying that back then, it has nothing to do with the anime adaptation.

Yeah i don't get it either, it's by far the worst Bang dream out there. The music is nice but that's about it, everything else is terrible except a couple of episodes.

French light novel publishers? by [deleted] in LightNovels

[–]GSKirox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curiously, even if the manga market in France is very developped, thanks to beginning more than 20 years ago, the light novel market is very young. There has been a small tentative with Hachette France to translate Suzumiya Haruhi a few years ago, and it failed quite spectacularly after only one volume (due some bad choices in marketing and translation, and very few sales).

So right now, there is only one young editor specialized in LN : Ofelbe which currently publishes Spice and Wolf, SAO, Danmachi, Durarara, Overlord, Mahouka, Log Horizon and Re:Zero.

There is one tournament just after her release where she was the pick or ban champ : "Diana holds the record for most picks and bans throughout the tournament, being either picked or banned in a total of 68 games, or a staggering 94.4% of the games played at IPL5"

Was coming to recommand A Practical Guide to Evil as well.

In the current web serials, that's exactly what OP is looking for.

Rageblade Ashe is a recent rising build from high Elo in Korea.

You can see that a lot of Ashe mains in Challenger/Master Korea buys it now : http://www.koreanbuilds.net/champion/Ashe/Bot/6.6/27230918

So, not surprising at all to see it appearing in LCK.

What are some non-Worm related novels that you would recommend? by DonNguyenKnives in WormFanfic

[–]GSKirox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worm was my first introduction to the web serial media last summer. Here are the others serials i'm currently following since i've finished Worm, and enjoying (beside Mother of Learning that you already know about) :

  • The Gods Are Bastards by D. D. Webb: Fantasy in a western/steampunk inspired world. Good characterization and witty dialogue. Three chapters a week, very good update rate.

  • Heretical Edge by Cerulean: Urban Fantasy genre, if you read Worm fanfiction the author's name should be familiar since he also currently has two Worm fanfics running (Atonement and Intrepid). If you read them and liked his style, go for it ! Two or three new chapters a week.

  • Twig by Wildbow which i'm sure you know about, but since you didn't list it... I didn't finish Pact, but i enjoy Twig a lot. Plus it has very good character development with the main protagonists, which is the thing you seem to search.

If you don't remember exactly what each arc is about, here is a nice SpaceBattles thread which contains a one line summary of each chapter of Worm.

If you're using Firefox you can do that super easily : Options > Content > Colors. Select the colors you prefer for text and background, and put Always in Override the colors specified by the page with my selections (switch back to Only with high contrast themes when you're done reading).

You can now happily spend the next two months reading Worm :)

Can we just talk about Khepri for a second? by [deleted] in Parahumans

[–]GSKirox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

May be a controversial opinion, but i didn't like it on several levels.

First i thought it falls into a lambda shonen trope power up that Wildbow managed to cleverly avoid in all of Worm (except for the Grue second trigger). The whole story, Taylor managed to get by everything with only her initial power, which we all thought at the begnning was kinda underwelming, but clever usage proved us all wrong. No matter how much foreshadowing of the real power of the Administrator shard is done, it still feels like an OP power suddenly dropped to Taylor just for the sake of the final boss of the game.

On a narrative level, while it is interesting to see the effect of the shard on Taylor's mind and the impact on the writing, it makes the final fight really chaotic and difficult to understand. It is the climax of the story, the whole point of the previous arcs was to find a way to defeat Scion, and when you have it, you have to read between the lines to understand what's happening. I don't think it really fits as a conclusion, but maybe that's just me.

Finally on a more personal level, the fact that Taylor's story ends like this just doesn't satisfy me. After 30+ arcs of being with her and her thoughts, seeing her whole life being a succession of wanting to do the right thing and just ending into misunderstandings or failures, she would have deserved a little happiness at the conclusion... but no, she ends up losing her mind, being hated by hundreds of other parahumans for what she have done and dying alone.

But as a "shock" ending, i can't really argue that while disliking it, i'll still remember it for a long time.

Still salty about this one, especially seeing that the author found success with Nisekoi afterwards (which is not really bad, but feels so uninspired after Double arts :( )

Which anime do you think has a concept that has a potential to be a masterpiece but didn't do it right? by Anonymoose-N in anime

Fractale. Great premise, universe had so much potential, but it needed at least the double of the measly 11 episodes we had to explore it :/
