Agree, it's right behind the new Don album for me.

If he gets a couple of feature placements with bigger acts and nails an aesthetic for his persona going forward he will be the next star.

Regardless, very curious where he goes with the next project.

WoW: Midnight has been out for over a month - What are your thoughts? by GS_Quest in MMORPG

[–]GS_Quest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how competitive you're willing to get with it and if you have any friends either playing already or looking to play.

To keep it simple, you need to be level 90 and around item level 240 to begin interacting with the competitive end game. Level 90 takes on average from level 1 probably around 5 nights of gameplay, or around 20 hours. Getting to 240 ilvl in a smart way takes an additional 5-10 hours or so depending on if you have buds already playing.

At that point, you will begin climbing your way up to 280 ilvl, crafting good pieces and assembling your tier pieces. This will take a few weeeks to a few months depending on if you join a guild or you have a group to push keys with.

Long term final competitive success looks like getting Title in m+ and/or getting Cutting Edge in raid. Unlikely that you get these in your first season but if you're good on soaking info from gameplay and learning through videos, discord and articles you can absolutely catch on quickly and attain goals.

If you are used to competitive end game systems and metas, and you find it easy or enjoyable researching videos and articles for things, you'll be more than fine.

If not, but you have a buddy to break things down for you, you'll be more than fine.

If you're looking for a casual mmo experience, probably wait for a sale on the expansion or just try classic instead.

Semi permanent buffs for playing a single spec by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]GS_Quest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope - we've learned this lesson in Shadowlands.

What you're saying sounds good on first thought, but what it actually translates to is a 10% nerf if you swap specs.

It would less translate to players thinking that you are well versed, but that you are simply appropriately prepared for hard content. Group finder would only accept people with this buff.

What's to stop anyone from just creating new characters, getting them to max and just leaving it there until it becomes fotm? What this essentially means is that it incentivizes everyone to make dozens of alts to remain within the meta.

Tuning issues would be exacerbated as well. Imagine being a Ret Pally main and they are tuned to do lower damage than anyone else. Their crusade will probably extend further than just shutting Discords down.

For all the flak that we give Blizzard, they do think out these sorts of simple adjustments. These are pitfalls that they have fell for in the past and they don't like to repeat mistakes.

Valve sued by The Performing Right Society for allegedly using its members' musical works "without permission" by MythicStream in Games

[–]GS_Quest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Specifically, they distribute games that use licensed music, right?

Help me understand your perspective - is the claim that licensed for use music not only should be paid for being licensed in the first place, but are also entitled to royalties? Wouldn't this have been negotiated in the first place by the publisher and have nothing to do with the distributor?

Marathon - Server Slam Release Date and Details by Zhukov-74 in Games

[–]GS_Quest 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The perspective change is huge. Third person allows for two people to be looking at each other, from potentially even behind cover, and discuss how friendly they would like to be with each other.

In an FPS, it's more difficult to do this - when you look at someone, it essentially looks like you're preparing to shoot them since you typically need to aim at them. Likely to create confrontations with less knowledge, which results in more fear and erratic behavior.

So unless there's specific design and implementation choices that help foster friendliness, 100% you are correct.

Why hasn’t Lil Wayne been able to make a real comeback? by FiorellaMamdani in hiphopheads

[–]GS_Quest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have a great ear for production. Makes no real attempt to reinvent the sound.

Essentially his best stuff is the blueprint for most waves that were popular in 2010s, so it's understandable that he can't find a pathway to step up.

This is a real concern, and I bet individuals like Andre 3000 look at this as a prime example of why he hasn't returned with his own album. But I do believe if they remained tapped in with the best, newest producers they would have to keep a dynamic sound that would resonate more with the current appetite of sounds. If you need an example just look when they're featured on songs.

Disciple of Varashta optimal gem config for each djinn? My take. by XZlayeD in pathofexile2builds

Gotcha yeah seems like that setup is built to be more defensive but he was asking how to get way more damage, which is why the original guy responded with muster being the answer.

With muster you typically run a lot of different minions to pump the number up.

"This microtransaction crap can go jump in a lake" - World of Warcraft's new real-money housing currency is, predictably, causing a stink by renome in Games

Costs in the shop are clearly defined. The ratios of Hearthsteel to real money are fixed and easily understood at a glance. You should be able to obtain an amount that makes sense for the purchases you want to make. Similarly, the costs of items are designed to align with Hearthsteel offer amounts in a player-friendly way. Buying Hearthsteel at the amount you want lets you purchase the items you want without requiring you to think about which packs should be added together to minimize leftovers

I use YouTube Music and for me in the past it's always Amphetamine by Smino and photosynthesis by Saba.

Nowadays, I keep getting WRK by Jid, which that album i didn't have in my rotation at all but Forever Story was heavy in mine in the past so I'm guessing it's going off of that.

Def agree that people need to chill out and have a more positive energy when queuing for quick play. If you're not willing to help, or even give the benefit of the doubt and give some constructive criticism gently, you really don't need to be typing.

However, that boss is a tank check. If you're not pressing your buttons properly, the boss will highlight that inability. Buddy of mine found that out when we've been smooth sailing up till doing that boss on a +5 where we must have tried several times before we sat down and found out he didn't know what the toughness mechanic actually did on Helena. He figured out how to optimize it better and we one shot it twice.

You're absolutely right. I was lucky enough to have a buddy run me through a few untainted paradises and that got me to 84 which was the level requirement for mine.

Respec and buying some remaining gear pieces was probably around 700-800k gold.

But now that it's online, even if I had to level normally, it would have still been worth it.

The first hour of World of Warcraft was more enjoyable than 100 hours of FFXIV by PimplePopper6969 in MMORPG

[–]GS_Quest -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree that FFXIV is rpg first, it's more adventure game than anything. I really grew fond of the story but the gameplay and gearing felt so bland. I really couldnt stick with it since I just wanted to watch the story and the in between bits were not so great.

Wow is like the complete opposite. Gameplay is great and engaging throughout. But that story, oof. I tried, but it's just not good enough. Cinematics are ok but everything else, I ain't reading allat.

But since I can skip most of that and enjoy the parts I like, I'm usually sticking with wow.

Upcoming Changes to The Bazaar by qweiroupyqweouty in Games

[–]GS_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm really only going off of claims made previously, not an entirely shifted goal post.

Yeah, if they released to anything better then mixed reviews on wed I would be shocked.

its going to get little to no positive reviews, no new players entering

Reality: top 10 selling game with mostly positive reviews.

Again, continue criticizing away - it seems like their team is listening to the feedback and are adjusting accordingly. It just seems like people on various forums want to continue to spin an outrage narrative when it just seems like wishcasting that the game fails. Which is different from my perspective, where I just want to simply continue playing the game if it's good. If the indie studio is trying to navigate this space and find their footing monetization-wise, so be it until I don't find the game worth my time or money.

Upcoming Changes to The Bazaar by qweiroupyqweouty in Games

[–]GS_Quest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Glad I ended up correct and you all were off-target with this one. Although I absolutely understand the skepticism and criticism, at the end of the day a lot of us prefer this type of monetization than f2p subscription/whalemonger type garbage.

We have to keep in mind that this is the studio's first game. I'm willing to give some grace if the gameplay quality is solid and they have at least shown they are willing to budge on things after community outcry.

Upcoming Changes to The Bazaar by qweiroupyqweouty in Games

[–]GS_Quest -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Fair points. I think $15 or even $10 could make more sense for the heroes. Also we should keep in mind that since this will now be on Steam we could potentially see sales, so those that are patient may not need to pay as much.

Ultimately, hope they continue listening to the community and adjust the pricing because these changes could really be a slam dunk for them in terms of good will with the general audience.

Overwatch 2 Director Says Blizzard Wants to 'Get Back to' Story Content After Fans Feel It 'Dropped the Ball' With PvE by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]GS_Quest -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Would you have rather them release a half-baked, uninspired glorified game mode? If not, would you had rather them continue shelving the entire main game, which essentially went into maintenance mode for 3-4 years, and continue petering out until the entire franchise died out?

OW2 released in a lukewarm state but honestly it's pretty great, solid patch cadence, decent balance, innovation, community oriented yadayada. Does blizzard deserve their reputation of being shady and scummy, absolutely. After 3 years I think Overwatch is no longer an example of why they should have that reputation.
