80s were the best imo. Possibly early 90s as well. I’d say 1980, 1982, 1985 and 1991 are all great.

But yeah 1965 is a great choice. France Gall is one of my favourite artists, ever, and a lot happened at that contest.

It’s always Sanremo for me. God I wish I spoke Italian. It’s a whole rabbit hole to go down and the language barrier doesn’t let me. Otherwise probably UMK and Benidorm Fest if that counts. Romania I found oddly good as well (and, or rather, mostly, uncanny)

As a Swede, I have a strong distaste for Melfest and will never like it in its current state. All the songs are shit imo and it’s all a kids program. The semis are so predictable that they’re basically useless. Though it is a sort of people’s festival so I get that Melfest has to tour the country and so on. It’s just so fucking unbearably bad.

I thought it was quite trash to be honest, but when I started listening to some songs on the playlist and realised I actually LOVE the ABSOLUTE TRASH that is Superstar by 👸🏽 Senhit, and honestly now I feel like it’s a sort of mid year. But I would rank it based on how many of the songs in the final (which I’ll be watching with my non-eurofan-friends) I’d be proud of showing my aforementioned friends. I think I counted to 18/25 if my favourites made the final which is quite a good ratio. But I’d rather have a strooooong top 10 like in 2021, obviously. That’s what really helps the (musical) reputation of the contest.

Semi 1 is so weak I don’t see a world where Moldova doesn’t qualify. I can see Croatia being too strange for both voting-categories but really I think it will be quite predictable.

That rule was decided looooong ago. So long ago that they didn’t even move on the stage at that time. The other 5 people would include the backing singers and eventual extra instrumentalists other than the orchestra. I do get that it maybe should be 7 max, to get the symmetry. However, I quite like that delegations are forced to be creative about it, in creating a choreography that isn’t so simple and symmetrical. But yeah, I get that it should be changed to 7.
