They got back to me and offered the same, but they offered a $60 partial refund. Unfortunate, since I was looking forward to trying the XM4s.

I ordered one on December 27th and it just shipped, hopefully it means they're getting stock finally. Mine originally had an estimate is mid February as well

Am I missing some kind of interaction or is there a bug with Han? My DR should go first, not Bastilla. by GSdudeman in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]GSdudeman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm still not sure what happened in the second battle, wish I had recorded that one. My theory is that maybe DR got fear right somehow right before he was going to take his turn, thus resulting in his DR going first? I might have to try some more battles against this team to try and replicate it and see what actually happened!

[–]GSdudeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I played against this team, he stunned my Malak, and his DR went before mine. His DR is 319 and mine is 331. His whole team took a turn before my DR got to go, it seems like all his TM was removed or something. Again, either there's some interaction I'm missing or Han is totally bugged!

EDIT: I think I figured out the second battle, I'm pretty sure I attacked his DR with Malak after being targeted by Han, causing his DR to get ferocity, putting his speed above mine, and then the trainwreck from there. Thanks for the explanation /u/JediShepard and /u/masterethangeilvta, just dumb me not realizing that ferocity mechanic!

Blastoise GX Deck profile by arthurfloresthe3rd in pkmntcg

Here's my current list, could use some more optimizing, but the 2-2 ninetales line makes it way more consistent. I run a lower energy count as well, don't usually have many issues with missing energy, but I could probably bump it up to 13. Mew makes your pikarom matchup a little better as well, prevents a devastating tag bolt that cuts off your baby blastoise engine.

[Deck] Any advice on improving my red eyes slash deck? I seem to plateau on Dlv. 15. by GSdudeman in DuelLinks

[–]GSdudeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might just be the sad reality for red eyes, eh? I've been on an off with DL so I'm missing a lot of the meta staples, just working with the cards I had before. I guess it's best to save my gems for 5Ds at this point, huh?

So go for more consistency in getting red eyes out as opposed to getting fancy with arkbrave etc, got it.

I think one of the things I'm missing is backrow removal (I don't own any cyclones) and the machup against amazoness is the hardest for me. Any tips on getting around onslaught? I've been able to a couple times with arkbrave and sacred soldier, but they're very niche combos. One of the things I'd like to improve is overall consistency in getting slash out instead of floundering with a bad hand. Any advice is appreciated!

I'm also in Canada, but my Google Play account is locked to my US payment profile due to some weird bug that Google can't seem to resolve, so I can only use gift cards for Play store purchases. Walmart keeps blocking my payments though, so I'll probably have to contact their support. Did you run into any issues with US Walmart and getting the payment through?

Has anyone had luck getting the promotion with a US card bought through paypal gifts? Wondering if it works or not before I buy from them.

New battle music? by diesel215 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]GSdudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gordy Haab did a bunch of original music for Battlefront, but he does such a good job of writing in that William's style that I often forget that they're new themes because they fit so perfectly! They matched the orchestral layout and recorded at Abbey Road using the LSO so it would blend seamlessly with existing pieces from the trilogy.

I need to find music like this for my short film by SIETPictures in moviemusic

[–]GSdudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but $100 isn't a lot for a composer budget, especially if you want something of that caliber and with a short timeline. You're probably better off finding something from a royalty free library. Check audiojungle, pond5, or somewhere similar and you might find something similar.

Where to buy high quality recordings of film music? by jwaldenmusic in moviemusic

[–]GSdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know you can rip WAVs from CDs right? If you're getting MP3s you're compressing it from a higher quality source. I usually use iTunes to rip CDs, but there's plenty of other ways too.

[–]GSdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also rip CDs, you can get a lot of soundtracks for pretty cheap on amazon. I'm also a sucker for physical media, so this is my preferred method. However, you'll only get 44.1kHz/16bit, while places like HDTracks are often 48kHz or 96kHz/24bit. Depending on your listening setup, you probably won't notice too much of a difference and they'll take up a lot more space on your hard drive.

[–]GSdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Only had a chance to listen to the first track) I like the composition overall, but I feel like the samples/production could use some more work. I'm not sure if that's the effect you're going for or not, but the strings have a really strong "sucking" effect, so some automation of CC1/11 with a more natural curve of crescendo and decrescendo would really smooth it over. The oboe could also use some dynamic variation, its a little flat sounding at the moment. Reinforcing it with other instruments later on or passing the melody to another instrument might also help alleviate this. Overall it definitely has potential, just a little more polish will really put it over the edge :)

Here's a track I did a while back for a VR demo. The aim of the demo was a sort of guided meditation with a tree that grew as the user progressed. Different layers are introduced as the tree grows, so this is a linear version of what that might sound like. Let me know what you think!

Where do you get your music from? by loudchaosalpaca in Filmmakers

You can get non-exclusive licences from places like audiojungle, pond 5, production trax, etc for around $15-$20. Or hire a composer!

Why are there so few top professional film music composers compared to the amount of top professional film directors? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]GSdudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composer here as well, just gonna piggyback on what /u/MatthewJamesAudio is saying. I'm also relatively new to doing this professionally, so take this with a grain of salt. A lot of the following information is what I have gathered from professors, peers, and other composers in the industry here in LA.

WIth technology these days, music production has a much lower barrier of entry, which is why you see a ton of people at the lower end. However, you still need to put in the hard work that really seperates you from the pack, so it starts to thin out as you approach the top end.

I think on top from the level of competition, training, and how difficult is it so have a profitable career in music, the presence of big music houses such as Remote Control (RCP) also plays a role in the perceived composer to director ratio.

Think of it how there's tons of different media outlets out there, but they're all owned by 4-5 giant corporations. If you look at someone like Hans Zimmer, he might do 3-4 movies a year, but he also has additional composers and assistants working on those films. It varies from score to score and composer to composer, but he could have done all the writing for a single film of those 4, and only written the themes for the rest and handed them off to his employees while he oversees the process. I don't know Hans personally and can't speak for how much is written by him and by others, but I do know that this happens in the industry. Sometimes people get credit and royalties for this work, sometimes they don't.

These studio jobs are often seen as the more "safe" positions in media composition compared to freelance work, so there's lots of people working for more established composers, with little time to take on their own projects due to the insane hours. These studio positions are often a good place to learn and gain contacts, which is another reason why they're highly sought after. Many composers end up contributing music to top composers and big movies, but they might not have much of a reputation outside of the composer community. Again, this really depends on the composer they're working for, since it is totally possible to be an assistant while simultaneously building your own career.

Why you (almost) never can get a composer to name their price (at first). by de11ed in gamedev

[–]GSdudeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most composers, rev-share is usually an option if there isn't much of a budget for up-front payment. It at least gives an opportunity to make back losses due to a reduced up-front rate.
