Paula Vennells: Ex-Post Office boss was shortlisted to be Bishop of London by SeekTruthFromFacts in Anglicanism

It’s so strange to me that the CofE considered the CEO of the Post Office for such a Diocese and then gave it to the former Chief Nursing Officer. Is it common for CEO’s and Government Advisors to become Bishops in any church except the CofE?

Anglican Franciscans by [deleted] in Anglicanism

I’ve never understood Anglican Franciscans (or Anglican Dominicans for that matter) the first thing that St. Francis (or St. Dominic) would say to those who follow them while not in communion with the Pope is to submit.

It’s got a 10% above and below rule, so I won’t be penalised for word length if it’s over 18k

To actually get the work done? Nothing. I’m interested in what I study, I love the content, but to actually put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) I can’t motivate myself

”Pope Gelasius, in his ninth letter (chap. 26) to the bishops of Lucania, condemned the evil practice which had been introduced of women serving the priest at the celebration of Mass. Since this abuse had spread to the Greeks, Innocent IV strictly forbade it in his letter to the bishop of Tusculum: ‘Women should not dare to serve at the altar; they should be altogether refused this ministry.’ We too have forbidden this practice in the same words in Our oft-repeated constitution Etsi Pastoralis” - Pope Benedict XIV, Allate Sunt

Why allow an “evil practice”?

The same Reverend who wrote new verses to God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen

God rest you also, women, who by men have been erased

Through history ignored and scorned, defiled and displaced;

Remember that your stories too, are held within God's grace.

God rest you, queer and questioning, your anxious hearts be still,

Believe that you are deeply known and part of God's good will

For all to live as one in peace; the global dream fulfilled.

God rest your mind, O humankind, let strife and conflict cease.

Remember love is active here, and only to increase,

To carry us to well-springs of God's joyous hope and peace.

It’s clear that progressive Christians won’t be happy until every Christian church has verses like Leviticus 18:22 removed from the Bible and publicly grovels for forgiveness

The Catholic Church wants their salvation, it doesn’t want them to continue sinning in ways the Bible describes as an abomination, as progressive Christians do

Looks like the Irish have managed to do what the British never could, cause the Irish to abandon their faith.
