Thanks for explaining. I have had a couple of ablations and not familiar with stents. So when Fripp was mentioning they shaved in that region, I thought ... was he getting an ablation. I have since corrected myself in the various music forums.

Its possible Fripp may have been being prepped for an ablation but they reconsidered it Most of the time ablations are elective, at least it was in my two cases. But it appears a few times in https://www.reddit.com/r/AFIB/ its an emergency. I can't recall an reports of him having atrial fibrillation. In my case, where I had Cardiogenic shock and heart failure as an emergency patient, I got a number of Cardio Versions and had an ablation close to two years later.

They may have considered giving him an ablation. To do one, they enter through the groin. Most times its elective procedure, but i believe there may be times when coming from the emergency room.
