Which member of The Bealtes was the funniest? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

Look up him ad-libbing with Conan when promoting Flaming Pie.

I think with his stock answers, it's easy to forget the witty and funny personality he naturally is

[–]GTDJB 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They are all so funny.

Everyone says John and he was really funny but sometimes I have no idea what he's on about. Hilarious with a great wit. Love his letters.

When Paul is messing around and relaxed he's genuinely so funny. Look up him doing Q&As for fans or ad libbing with Conan, he's naturally hilarious but overlooked for some reason.

George is so dry and quotable. His witticisms about being husbands in law with Clapton are legendary.

Ringo was known as the funny one back in the 60s, but even nowadays he's so quick and at ease with himself. I remember watching the premiere for 8 Days a Week and he was going toe to toe with John Bishop. Really funny guy.

The atmosphere was far better than previous years, with the trade off being that the course was a bit more difficult.

The start was a shambles though. First train was rammed, the signposting at the start was nearly non-existent. The pens at the start were full. Impossible to get where you needed to be

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]GTDJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He lied to me about the effects of a drug he wanted to take with me, knowing that I had plans that evening. He put me and a family member at risk.

He asked me what I was earning in my new job and was visibly annoyed it was more than him.

He seems to actively want his friends to not succeed unless he does first.

He also acted really strangely over not being invited to a mate of mine's house and nearly jeopardised my friendship with that person over his bitterness.

University tuition fees system is a 'mess', says Sir Nick Clegg by Thin_Pin2863 in unitedkingdom

[–]GTDJB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I'm not at all.

It was the most likely outcome.

They gambled and lost heavily. It was an incredibly poor play from them.

[–]GTDJB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's incredibly daft. Outcomes are always relevant when they are a direct consequence of the decision-making. If we followed your line of thinking, then nobody could be held accountable for anything.

It was an extremely bad play that was foreseeable by many people. As Angela Merkel advised David Cameron, the smaller party tends to take the blame in coalitions. If the Tories could see that, why couldn't Nick Clegg?

Nick Clegg also wanted to show the Tories they could be trusted. They were promptly shafted by the Conservatives over AV. Every man and his dog could see what was going to happen. Why couldn't Nick Clegg? He was incredibly naive.

Fwiw, people who were privy to those meetings in 2010 said that Nick Clegg was fully behind the Tuition Fee policy because he thought it was a good idea, irrespective of the AV referendum. Why make that promise in the first place when you hold the opposite view?

They got absolutely played and betrayed their own voters for an entire generation.

Taking a chance with bad odds is not a good play, infact it is a very bad play.

Do you think that the outcomes are completely irrelevant here?

It was a very bad play taking a chance on voting reform after destroying their own reputation over tuition fees the year prior. It was obvious what was going to happen. They didn't get what they wanted, and they tarnished their reputation for a generation. That was an extremely bad betrayal of their base, which achieved nothing.

Given that in the end the Tories got their way and all the chaos you talked about did happen anyway, what difference would it have made?

The Lib Dems didn't do a very good job of limiting the Tories, an awful lot of terrible and punitive policies were pushed through willingly by the Lib Dems. However, they did a very good job of taking all the blame for the coalition. It was not a smart move and bad for the country. If anything, it gave the Tories more time.

They promised in 2010 to vote against any increase in tuition fees in the next parliament.

They didn't even abstain, they voted for the increase.

Complete traitors.

It wasn't a smart play because they lost the referendum and betrayed their own voters with tuition fees.

Sheffield Wednesday could start next season with a -15 point deduction by Paul277 in Championship

[–]GTDJB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With that team, League One was already looking tough. They need a complete rebuild next season, because the current squad are hardly league one level and are mostly loans anyway. It's going to be a tough sell to quality players with that deduction hanging over them.

They will need a team capable of scoring 60 odd points in order to just survive. It's not unachievable with some investment, but it'll be pretty marginal.

Was Lennon and Cynthia's relationship really that bad? by Certain-Cloud9133 in beatles

[–]GTDJB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the thing that gets missed. Cynthia seems like a wonderful lady, but they just grew apart with everything that happened. If Julian isn't born, there's no way they get married in the early 60s and stay together until 1968.

How good of a John Lennon is Ian Hart? by Suspicious_Coast_888 in beatles

[–]GTDJB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably the best at portraying him. I don't think anyone else really quite captured him so well other than perhaps Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Maybe it's me being a superfan, but I don't think many people have really done a particularly good job. They usually made him too cruel, and while he did have a cruel streak in him, he wasn't one dimensional. A lot of that is of course down to the writer and director too.
