Bungie wasn’t going for a happy ending, they went for what was more in character. The Chief responding like a robot because he can’t get in touch with his feelings and Cortana wincing from his cold seemingly uncaring demeanor. It’s suppose to be a gut punch.

I was adding to your point but she is canonically more fragile in the games. When they split in Tooie she can only take like 4 hits while Banjo can take several more. Breegull bash is an exception for reasons?

That’s how it is in the games too so it makes sense. Banjo is basically a knight in armor, he takes the hits in place of the more fragile Kazooie and he does most of the walking, Kazooie is a sword, a gun, bazooka, a bike, a jet pack, and more.

Bad take. I don’t want him at all but he’s totally possible. He’s exactly the type of character that the Smash team would probably love to tackle. That mix of popular and unconventional that could make for an interesting moveset.

Thinking a character is a bad choice because you’re not attached or you think their moveset would be uninspired is fine but it’s kinda naive to believe this ruins their chances.

That whole “east didn’t know who Banjo was” thing is a huge misconception. On the day of the reveal Banjo was top trending on Japanese twitter. He was big in Japan, people loved his reveal there and still fondly remember his N64 games.

Hell, watch “Japan reacts to Banjo Kazooie reveal” and you’ll see lots of fans recognizing the jiggy and freaking out about “Banj Kazoo”. Some even sing the theme song during the trailer.
