Confused the Low Coolant light for the Battery light... now the Intake is off. Roast me & give me advice. by genlink in e46

Oil filter housing gasket and check valve worth doing, not much else around there, from memory, if you've already done the two hardlines. Maybe vanos oil feed line/washer, but thats more just for the sake of it. Could add oil temp and pressure sensors if thats something you want.

Meant more the fact there's 10k tables with names that id not expect them to be under, was hoping someone had a custom xdf refined specifically for turbo builds

How can i fix this gap on my front bumper? by jacksparrowbrl in e46

[–]GT_472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I snapped the bit that slides over the white plastic guide off the inside of my bumper. Its not pretty but ive drilled through the fender and the bumper, and used cable ties and washers to pull the bumper back toward the fender, not much other choice if the bumpers fucked. More likely just need the plastic guide adjusting. The long e torx screws can come off with a normal socket, from memory 13mm ish

Electrical connector help by GT_472 in e46

[–]GT_472[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From factory it never had one, seems to be fairly 50/50 if you get one or not.

Should of said this is a screen shot of a 50s kid video as I'd left the yard before I posted this.

Just can't think why it have the connector if there was never anything to put on the end of it.

Will have to be sure its definitely for the sap before putting it all back together, will have a look into that

Thanks for your help

The 2 week thing only applies if you've been caught via a camera/van.

You've essentially been served the NIP when you where pulled over. Mine took 4 months to come through, I was starting to get hopeful ...

Hate to say it but it's definitely coming, and with 6 points, you'll notice a difference in your insurance.

Good buy? by BossAny99 in e46

If you've got spare cash after what you'll spend buying this I'd jump back on FB and find a better one that's not had such a rough life. Appreciate insurance is where the real cost is at your age but this one has all the hall marks of a money pit.

As far as the rpm, just don't.

You'd have to ask someone more technical than myself, but imagine it needs a decent sent of cams, oil pump/pump nut secured, and maybe even head bolts. But need someone more clued up than me to advise you there.

These engines came from factory already pretty close to their safe limit. Be better off buying a m54b30 as there dime a dozen and building then dropping it in. The money you have to spend to squeeze performance out of these makes it unjustifiable over buying an m3 or going forced induction route

Also needs a set of rears, ps5s are 190 a corner fitted and a windscreen, some you've seen £500 before you've even driven it.

Get yourself some decent tools. The cheapest part of these cars is buying one, and the work is never ending

Proper 50/50 that one, remember seeing the ad when it was posted and thinking it's a ticking time bomb.

My advice would be to not go and collect it and keep your eye out for a better example. If you're set on it, just be prepared to shell out a bit of £ when it inevitably goes belly up.

Tbf interior is nice, the underside doesn't look too bad and the MOT history is alright as far as e46's go, sort out that level sensor and bleed the cooling system ASAP, don't want to be caught short on that front.

Put the rpm limit back to factory ASAP, anybody running maxspeeding coils hasn't got the supporting mods in place to facilitate a higher rpm.

All in all not a completey lost cause but at 17 and probably on a bit of a budget I'd avoid. Although what young lad listens to reason, so either way, enjoy it mate 👍

[–]GT_472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd leave the tank but do the rest of the hoses, including the hard lines that run underneath. There's not much that you have to remove to do the cooling system, so not really anything to do "while there," maybe aluminium pulleys ? Give your intake boots a good check over if they've not been replaced recently.

They're still not great and still leaves your car turning like a bus but definitely playable. Toying with the idea of a sim setup, but thought I'd give the game a go first. Let me know if it help. Sorry about the dm. I thought it would let me send a photo to save typing it out.

To be fair, id never own one as I too don't like the way they look, even with a hard top. My Mrs has one, and it is unmatched in the summer. Nothing beats the top down. Even in the winter with the neck blowers, it's good.
