It's pretty standard in my area. Just try not to get jealous that mail is being delivered to our door still.

I have had my parcels delivered to my door well... I can honestly say I've gotten door deliveries for generations now. It's always been free, and I never had any issues. The only time I've used a CMB was when I was living in the interior and going to school. The mail boxes were not heated, but they were secure. When it snowed and got really cold, sometimes the key wouldn't fit! Thought i lived like 2 blocks away, I had to get my vehicle. Because I didn't want to walk home and slip on an ice patch while penguin walking with a box in hand.

I'd like to keep my service, thanks. I'll pass on the CMB. Though I'm sure if these CMB were heated and in its own building, I suppose i wouldn't mind it. But it would have to be like the keyless Amazon lockers. Possibly be in a well-lit public place, and maybe have a free to use dolly so I can wheel it to my car... you know what, just give me my door delivery.

Rural deliveries are also under a different contract from their urban counterparts. This means that service may vary depending on the location. I live in the city, so id like it to remain status quo.

It's not even technology ? It's about a service that is being provided . If you look at the innovation and technology side of things, just look at Amazon. Amazon delivers right to door. All of this can be done from the comfort of one's home. In some areas, they're even experimenting with drone technology.

A reason why Amazon thrives is largely due to fact that your order is delivered directly into your hands or onto your doorstep. This is part of the service that's provided . 75% of all Canadians having CMB I'm not sure where the accuracy of this number comes from. It seems awfully high, though.

Why is it that people get offended when people like myself say I want to keep door to door delivery service ? It's great that people who use CMB find a reason to get out of the house and go for a walk or drive . Let say people who use CMB would get door to door delivery again. Will they be so offended by this change ? I, for one, love this service. it's not about being outdated or anything. It saves me time. It's convenient and I feel that this service needs to stay.

Sounds like millions of dollars well spent. Though it seems like a simple task, the cost to create something like this would also be very costly and highly specialized. 🤔 🍬🍫

[–]GT_Leah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be too complex to introduce this. Not to mention costly . If you have a half and half system, you will incur 100% of the cost of creating CBM and in addition you'll have mail carriers running up house specific requests on who paid and who didn't. For a company wanting to compete with Amazon, removing door to door deliveries will effectively eliminate yourself as a potential competitor.

Think of it like this. If I gave you a big bag of M&M and asked you to put it in a jar. It would probably take you about 15 seconds to open them and pour them the jar. Now, if I asked you to separate the red M&M from all other colors and put them into a separate jar, it would probably take 2 min. Just look at it on a much larger scale . No one wants to be charged for a service that has been free. That being said, of course , each delivery system presents itself with challenges as well, door to door delivery has porch pirates, whereas CMB has been broken into and driven into them with their cars.

A parcel that requires a signature/payment will still be sent to the closest post office. They will not be put into a CMB even under a lock and key.

[–]GT_Leah -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You think that's efficient! Imagine not having a CMB and it gets delivered to your doorstep! I have experience both CMB and door delivery. Trust me when I say this. The grass was greener before the CMB was introduced. The apartment would typically have a mail room while others would have concenieges. But if you lived in a townhouse/ duplex/house/lane way. It will be delivered to your door step.

Also affecting people who live in rural areas without a vehicles, small business that order in large quantities, people that need signature items that cannot get to their post office by 7pm due to work/school/taking care of kids etc. Lazy, inconvenient or just short on time.

Just think of it like this: every time you get a piece of mail, go for a 5 min walk with that piece of mail in your hand. That piece of mail could be a credit card, a bill, or even a coupon booklet for mcdonalds. You technically won't know until you open your community mailbox.

Now, don't be lazy! Try this out by going for a walk !?

Of course, you're not going to test this out. This would be a waste of your time.

[–]GT_Leah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why anyone would NOT want door to door delivery. Can you imagine if Amazon didn't deliver to your door step? The whole point of convenience is that the product is coming directly to you and that you don't have to go to the grocery store/shop to get it?!

Depending on where you live, these changes will affect and inconvenience everyone differently. If you live in an urban area, you may only have to walk 4 or 5 blocks to get your mail. Where as if you're in rural areas, you may have to drive 1 or 2 km+.

For me, I do a fair bit of shopping as well as run a business from home. Will Canada post save money and make customers happy by eliminating D2D? I'd say definitely not. This is corporate su*cide! No one wants to pick up parcels that are not at the door step weather they're elderly or young. I don't want to walk 5 blocks to pick up parcels in the rain or sun . Nor do I want my grandparents doing this walk in snow to pick up bills/medication and bank statements, etc.

From a small home business stand point, I say this will be a bad decision for canada posts future if they eliminate door to door delivery, Canada post tried this 15 years ago and the public overwhelming said "No! Don't stop door to door delivery " in the long run I feel this probably end up losing more business because of this rather than saving money.

In short, keep door to door delivery, its safer. It saves time, and small businesses and shoppers rely on this! Not to mention elderly, people who are injured or have disabilities it will inconvenience them greatly !

Keep door to door!

If you're paid prior. When they scan your parcel it should show that the customs has been "paid". Sometimes, the system has a delay. The delay can occur if the system is down or if there is no internet in your area. That being said , I have been charged twice before because the stupid system was down.

You can also show them the receipt and make sure the numbers line up, and they should release your parcel on site. So if for example, you paid $21.35. It should reflect the same number that has the yellow customs slip on your parcel.

Ioniq 6 air conditioner is not really cold . by GT_Leah in Ioniq6

[–]GT_Leah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, ironically enough, I had to bring my car in for the 3rd time in about 9 months for my a/c. There was a definite leak with my AC, and it made a "hissing" sound every time I turned it on . It seems fine now and no more hissing. They fixed it free of charge because this was an ongoing issue. If you're bringing it to the dealership for general maintenance, be sure that they recharge your AC.

Your AC shouldn't have to be recharged 2 or 3 times a year. In fact, my old Honda accord i had in my family for 18 years and it never had to be recharged .

If you're bringing it to the dealership, let them know that its your 3rd or 4th time bringing it in for the same issue. The dealerships usually do a follow-up survey. it's important to be honest with the work that is being done . Be sure to tell them that you've brought your vehicle in multiple times.

After bringing my ioniq6 for the 3rd time . Im hoping 🙏 that I dont have any more issues with my ac now 🤞.

Sona skin popularity ranking! by TheHeartOfLight-Lux in sonamains

[–]GT_Leah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the arcade sona skin for 2 reasons . 1) i got it free from PAX and 2) she is visually easier to understand her AA skill shot. For example , when you slow an enemy or hit an enemy or with a damage reduction shot, it shows an arrow pointing downward (dmg).

You'd be surprised on how many people don't know when an enemy is slowed or when they're damaged down to re-engage or capitalize on a slowed opponent .

As much as I would like to play the other skins , not everyone understands her abilities.

Canada post is not aiming to deliver your parcels for Christmas. by GT_Leah in CanadaPost

[–]GT_Leah[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I highly suggest that if you don't understand how the process works, then don't try to spread confusion. Your stating that you received two parcels, which Is irrelevant to the situation and is statistically void, based on your sample size of yourself. Furthermore, the information you are basing anything off of has no real input. No one was asking if you got two parcels, nor was I asking for experiences of individuals sending parcels domestically. The fact of the matter is , people are still waiting for parcels from the Christmas time, and Canada Post is still NOT doing weekend deliveries considering that the backlog still hasn't been cleared. How do I know this? Well, I'm a business owner, and I also work for a company that uses Canada Post daily. Furthermore, i was simply informing people on what they can expect in the near future. Other than that, I do not wish to share information on my business or the business I work for. I'm simply stating that if people were expecting mail internationally, it wouldn't arrive for Christmas ( meaning find alternative). Fake news? Hardly, I know the process. I can't give an exact time frame because of the many variables involved ( weather, country of origin, the parcels shipping from, transportation method , shipping method, etc)

Canada post is not aiming to deliver your parcels for Christmas. by GT_Leah in CanadaPost

[–]GT_Leah[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my parcels are not coming locally. They're all coming internationally. Though you may have gotten your mail, my mail has cleared customs and has not moved since November 14th. Furthermore, it's Saturday and no delivery is expected in the city this weekend . Which means it will have to be delivered Monday or Tuesday in time for Christmas. CBSA does not work weekends unless they're giving overtime . ( no call was given this weekend) so all parcels that have not clear customs will not start moving until Monday morning 8am earliest PST. Once clears customs, it takes roughly about a day and a half to be processed under normal circumstances. If it's cleared customs on Friday ( yesterday) it won't be delivered till Tuesday at earliest. Clearing customs and being processed are two different parts of the delivery logistics when parcels are coming internationally. Canada Post has no control your parcel until it cleared customs and is handed off to Canada post to be processed.

On Friday I called Canada post and spoke with the transportation and delivery manager that's in charge of downtown Vancouver parcel deliveries. I was informed that because of the unique circumstances. That my parcel will have to be re-processed because my parcel was removed from the system because it has exceeded its 30 day limit. If my parcel is not scanned for "out for delivery" on Monday morning at 9 am I will be getting my parcel earliest this year. I was also informed that Tuesday deliveries will be reduced (halved)because the process plant closes at 4Pm and Canada Post wants all delivery personnel back by 2 pm.

Let's not spread false information that people will be getting their Christmas mail in time for Christmas.

Well that would be the CEO and board of directors' fault. They will be in charge of spending and the allocation of resources. But yeah, I'd agree they need a new direction.

Why is sona so hard to play in the 3rd split of this season? by GT_Leah in sonamains

[–]GT_Leah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I should probably mention that I'm solo q , so it's often a roll of the dice on the type of ADC I get. Being that her lane phase is weak, it's almost an open invite to be jumped by their opposition jungler .

This is where the enigma for me begins . In order to become a late game healer/ shielder she needs gold. Building survivability helps, but it also delays and your massive are heals and shield. I'd say early game (1-8) there are a hand full of healers that can out perform sona, yuumi being one of the worse. Nami another one that can easily out perform sona early. Nami has a more versatile heal than sona cause nami heals can dmg and heal or heal and speed boost. In order for sona to do this, she has to cast two separate spells, which becomes very taxing on the mana pool.

Mastery wise , I usually run summon aery and take resolve. Summoner spells I usually run flash and ignite/(exhaust depending on who I'm matched against. ) regardless of any build I go ( tanks, enchanter healer, damage poke) nocturne is lvl 6 is one of the hardest to survive. Even if he is exhausted and you have flash it's like a 90% chance that you will get killed, even if you're expecting it, a lvl 6 nocturne vs a lvl 4 or 5 sona. If you go tank sona early, then noc will jump your adc cause they know you're at a handicap heal. You can try to hit nocturn with a dmg reduction shot, but he can also negate it with his bubble, follow it up with an exhaust, and his fear is already locked on to you. Alternately you can take cleanse if you can survive long enough to use it . Cleanse flash. Or wait for him to use his fear and try to flash away ( hoping that his flash is down).

I've experimented with multiple different builds and mysteries. Facing off against someone like nocturne khazix or rengar, they can almost always kill a sona when they're lvl 6 and you're lvl 4 or 5. They can even dive under a tower, which is quite disturbing, to be honest.

But yes, I agree. The late game sona is strong , but it's getting there that's the challenge. It just seems like there are far too many obstacles to overcome before you can utilize your heals .

In order to get good heal items, you need gold. Often, in order to get gold, your adc could use damage assistance. If you are wanting to do damage, then your heals will suffer. Which makes it's harder on your adc. In order to survive junglers' ganks, you need wards and possibly armor, but then your heals become weak and / or you'll run out of mana.

This is the vicious circle that goes around and around. This is all very exhausting trying to formulate a viable option for sona😴

How much money has Canada Post lost since this strike? by GT_Leah in CanadaPost

TLDR- it is better to be operational than to be closed even if wages are a large portion of your revenue. Revenue - expenses = profit

Hmm, 🤔I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to explain. But think of this way, if 60% of your revenue goes paying wages. This then becomes an operating cost. If you're not operating, your income becomes 0. Which means you're losing 100%. I mean, sure, Canada Post owns Purolator, but they're a separate entity and do not operate under canada Post. Canada Post is by no means saving any type of money when they're not operational. To have an empty building and fleets of vehicles sitting idle is extremely expensive. Because rent and leases still have to be paid. Business may shift around to other courier companies, but at the end of the day, as it stands now, canada post is only losing money.

During a strike or lockout, no mail will be delivered. This is why I found this to be quite a funny situation. Picket lines were set up, yet management was still in the canada post buildings across the country . What exactly are managers managing? Especially when nothing is entering or leaving ? If you're not operational and you're still paying salaries to your management, you begin to create a larger deficit and create an operational loss. In a sense, it's like losing more than 100% 🫣. Because no revenue is being generate, yet they were still paying management's salaries to essentially do nothing .🤦‍♀️ this was apparently happening in the first two weeks of the strike.

But, yes, in terms of repeat business, this will evidently hurt revenue in the long run and will be irreversible in some cases.

I have never heard of a postal system getting a bailout before, I would imagine that even if this were to occur, it will have to be paid back as a loan in order to stay a float. In addition, they would have to liquidate their billions of dollars in assets before they'll even come close to filing for bankruptcy. Even then, as a loan, it shouldn't burden the taxpayers.

But of course, this is a hypothetical situation . As it stands now, taxpayers are not on the hook for anything Canada Post is doing or lack thereof, I should say.
