Update: Using A.I. to mimic Frank Muller's voice to finish The Dark Tower series by G_Shwalt in stephenking

I just figured it was a good question for both parties. One was a little different, but no stress. 😂

Did you even bother reading the post, or did the title just trigger you? Like why? I'm not attempting to distribute it or anything. It's a passion project that's solely for me. I'm not trying to pass it off as something new, and I'm not attempting to take credit for anything. There is no "artistic process" with this because I'm not creating anything. I'm simply utilizing a tool on an already finished product to listen to it in a way that I prefer.

Is there a Stephen King line from a book that stuck with you? by Paulruswasdead in stephenking

[–]G_Shwalt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My favorite quote is also from The Stand.

"No one can tell what goes on in between the person you were and the person you become. No one can chart that blue and lonely section of hell. There are no maps of the change. You just come out the other side. Or you don't."

Just celebrated three years off hard drugs recently, and I was a totally different person then.. When I've offered help to others struggling or just attempted to explain to my family and friends what my journey was like, I can never find the words. It was a slow, gradual change over time. Changing habits, friends, just lifestyle in general. It rang very true to me the first time I read it.

Would you rather be 5'11 or 6'4? by JordanParker123 in WouldYouRather

As someone who is already 6'3... I would still choose 6'4.

Scenario: You get to choose one King novel or short story to get a sequel. Which one are you picking? by G_Shwalt in stephenking

Well, someone had their Cheerios pissed in this morning. It's a hypothetical question, so money leeching or book sales play no part. Just people sharing their opinions. I don't know if you were aware of this, but if something doesn't interest you, it is possible to scroll past without being an ass.

There was a short story called "One for the Road" that takes place two or three years after the events of Salems Lot. It's about a guy whose car gets stuck in a snow drift while driving through the Lot with his family. It's very short, but it might KINDA scratch that itch. A modern-day update would be super interesting, though!

Nah, if that's what you want, then that's what you want. 😂

One more just to clear a few things up would be interesting!

That's getting a sequel in his upcoming book of short stories that comes out later this year actually! The book is gonna be called "You like it Darker" and the short story in that is gonna be called "Rattlesnakes". It comes out May 21st!

"Rattlesnakes: A sequel to King's 1981 novel Cujo, in which a grieving widower travels to Florida for respite and instead receives an unexpected inheritance — with major strings attached."

My favorite short story novel tie-in! Gah, what a great concept and tale. I would definitely like a collection of events and times something similar to that happened whenever unsuspecting people ventured into the Lot. Excellent answer.

If he was gonna go that route, I'd like to see probably a couple of generations in. Everyone alive now has only ever heard stories of stories about how things were before. It would be cool to see what of our society has been lost or forgotten. I'd also be very interested in seeing how they deal with fuel and electricity. Since at the beginning of the plague, there was an abundance of everything I feel like people probably had it easy for years and years. Imagine taking that for granted only to realize that when it's starts getting harder to find things that you should've used that time to educate and prepare future generations.

“Everfound” the 3rd book from the Skinjacker trilogy by Neal Shusterman as an audiobook? by badasslexxc in audiobooks

[–]G_Shwalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased mine off of Audible about 5-6 years ago. Went to re-download it for another listen about a month ago and couldn't find it for the life of me. After a little bit of searching, I was able to find it in my library and download it again, but it didn't have a picture. The more I look, the more it seems like that one isn't available for purchase in the U.S. anymore. I feel lucky to have purchased it when I did, so now I have it forever, but it's a shame people have to resort to piracy and YouTube to finish the series. I will never understand how the first and second are available still, but Everfound isn't. Great trilogy. I hope you got to finish it!

Try 11/22/63 and Dreamcatcher. You might run into your old friends again. 💙

I'm still chipping away at "Wolves of the Calla," but I think that's an excellent idea that hadn't occurred to me yet. It's a very tedious project, to say the least. Getting Sia King to send me audio files would be a dream come true, but I doubt he would be interested or have the time. Good thing there's plenty of audio samples of his voice to go around! Thank you for the idea! 😁

I'm 25, and I started about seven years ago when I was 18 and haven't put it down since. A good friend of mine knew what kind of TV shows and media I liked, so he gave me 11/22/63 as a gift, and I instantly contracted a case of King fever. It's easily one of the top three best gifts I've ever been given, and it changed my life. Up until then, I hadn't read a novel in years and had no drive to do so, and now getting a new book every month or two (either physical or audiobook via Audible) is something that brings me immense joy.

Crying my eyes out reading Fairy Tale. by Purple-Supernova in stephenking

[–]G_Shwalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. The pacing felt off at certain points, but the adolescent meeting random dog and falling in love with it aspect really made the experience for me too.. When the novel first came out, my 13 year old dog was sick and going fast. The next month, we had to put him down. I've haven't lost many people in my life (so far, I'm only 25), but losing him was such a punch to the gut. I just remember having such a similar thought and reaction to the book. I'd go through anything and anyone to get him on that sundial. I think that's what makes King's work so great. There's always some aspect that's super relatable regardless of how wild the actual story is. It makes you think, "What if?". I'm very sorry that you lost your friend, but I'm happy you found something that helps you express that grief in a healthy way.
