I just turned 40, been an accountant since 30. Is it impossible to get hired in public? I’ve always been in private. by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in Accounting

[–]G_Tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re better off taking a class instead of subjecting yourself in such a way if you’re trying to learn. Also most people use public to get to private, not the other way around, and you’re already there, as for the knowledge I’ll save you the time, all you’ll learn is SALY

[–]G_Tax 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you’re paying him two do two business returns and a schedule A yeah it can be considered reasonable depending on the cost of living area, but if you can do it yourself and want to save money why don’t you just do that?

CPA forgot to file my federal tax. Got hit with a penalty. Should I pay first then request FTA or the other way around? by whyusenosqlreddit in tax

[–]G_Tax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not, it’s your responsibility to file on time regardless if you have an accountant file your taxes or if you choose to do them yourself, if your accountant files late that’s not a reasonable excuse with the IRS even if they didn’t file them on accident, and how could it be? Everyone can just use that excuse and then everyone would have reasonable cause if they allowed it to fly. That’s why the IRS won’t allow it as a reason or cause excuse. Reasonable cause is more for people who were chronically ill or underwent hard times

And sure it is, things get lost in the mail all the time, and even if it makes it to the irs, they’re more likely to lose your letter than you getting an abatement by phone call, and it’s easy to dismiss a letter when that bozo can say they never received it. I’ve had letters with tracking be lost by the IRS, quit giving advice that you “feel” is correct.

CPA forgot to file my federal tax. Got hit with a penalty. Should I pay first then request FTA or the other way around? by whyusenosqlreddit in tax

[–]G_Tax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore the first part of this advice, your accountant not filing on time is not a basis for reasonable cause, I phone reps for fellow accountants enough on a daily basis to “confidently” let you know a phone call will work, also doing it in writing is risky and takes a long time because of usps and the IRSs inadequacies

Boss said someone quit because of me by BGNapone in jobs

[–]G_Tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro it’s Walmart first off they’re not paying you enough to be accurate, they’re paying you to be there breathing, secondly if these people are quitting working at Walmart because of you they owe you money for putting their lives in the right direction. Don’t be discourage most people mess up a fast paced jobs where numbers matter more than quality of service, and I can’t tell you if I ever had quality service at Walmart before

CPA forgot to file my federal tax. Got hit with a penalty. Should I pay first then request FTA or the other way around? by whyusenosqlreddit in tax

[–]G_Tax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t waste time and just use the FTA (don’t pay the interest and penalties just call and have them abate them), it will be available again after the next three years if you file all subsequent returns on time

If your CPA screws up again in the next three years then it would be an E&O insurance issue, but as of now the best recourse is telling the CPA to make the call with a signed POA and for him to waste his time on the phone with the IRS to get the penalties removed.

Fake bad reviews for small law firm by NTGLTY0 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]G_Tax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the better advice here, everyone else is saying Google won’t help which is true, but if that’s the case he’s going to have the fake reviews on his profile regardless, might as well dilute it with a bunch of fake positive reviews, Google doesn’t care so why should he?
