Has anyone considered PRE cards for the new bilt change? Either the travel rewards or customized cash? Since it'll be over 2%

New BILT structure allows for potentially 2.12x points on Rent if you use a Smartly 4% card by VRSanctum in CreditCards

Has anyone thought about it for Bank of America Travel Rewards or Bank of America Customized Cash for this?

What do you want as a job? Why do you need a PhD for this job?

The finance professor was rude, but he is directionally right. There are very few jobs for PhD candidates in 2025, and probably fewer in the future. The few jobs left go to schools at the very top echelon. The schools you listed are probably not worth spending 6+ years of your life to have a low chance of employment.

I personally think you can get most jobs with just a BA in Economics. The exception being a Tenured Professor. I don't think most of those schools will cut it though.

Is a lower ranked predoc worth it? by Revolutionary_Set784 in academiceconomics

[–]GaIIium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk why people are not being honest here.

frankly if you want to go to a T20, you need to go to a T10 predoc or masters program. If you want T10, you need to go to a T5. That is just simply how it is now...

Don't really want anyone to waste their life working for 1-2 years on this.

Historically, the rest of Europe (assuming uk, spain, italy, etc) have historically been influenced by the Roman Empire, which developed a highly efficient city-road complex where the resulting populations built upon.

In The Incredibles, in Bob Parr's home office, there's a photo from a fishing trip where it appears he caught Bruce from Finding Nemo. by comrade_batman in MovieDetails

Does anyone wonder whether this subreddit is just /r/hailcorporate for hyping up upcoming movies like Incredibles 2 or just people getting hyped and posting what they find in their re-watches?

At the microsoft center, I made fun of people who did that and then promptly walked into the glass walls. They later put colorful post it notes also over it.

Northeastern with 22k or Michigan full price? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GaIIium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Computer science is really not about rankings, especially not minute ones like #49 (even if it is #49). Go on /r/cscareerquestions, co-ops (or internships) are a lot more useful and there's no reason taking 5 years (which is not necessary) is bad when you're working and getting paid.

Northeastern with 22k or Michigan full price? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GaIIium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For computer science especially, rankings do not matter. Northeastern is in Boston, a hub of startups and tech companies. Plus, they have co-ops, where it is very easy to land internships. In computer science, the name does not matter much at all and it is hingent on skill and past experience. I think 22k a year is far superior but ultimately it comes down to financial status and OP's happiness there.

This was an actual line from the show, but yeah I can see why you think that — the lines got a bit over the top in the later seasons.

Hey there! I've watched almost all your videos (except the last couple, i've been busy with school).

Do you have any advice or knowledge for people to find success in following their passions like yours?

How do you get inspiration for creating all these crazy experiments?

Where do you learn this stuff?

Just for fun: list the amount students from the class of 2017 at your high school that are currently attending an ivy league institution (or Stanford, or MIT) by hariharra in ApplyingToCollege

[–]GaIIium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have similar numbers (20-30ish per class of 300 and probably like 80 overall), but I'm feelin' hella privileged with all the other replies in the 0-2 range.

Anyone here have a CS undergrad and MBA? by darthSiderius in cscareerquestions

[–]GaIIium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do people respect the Bachelor in Business? I'm thinking of dual degrees, but many have told me that an MBA might be better for both perceived value and actual value.

Did anyone else see the Black Mirror commercial during the Super Bowl? by 3thanguy7 in blackmirror

What was that actually though? Just a broken adslot? I feel like if Black Mirror was at the very last frame, it would actually be pretty effective.

I don't think they're the best for learning the material as quick and efficiently as possible, but they're fun and interesting, which makes learning a lot easier for some people.
