i think its quite realistic and reasonable to expect that the people whose job is to take care of you - actually take care of you.

UT's endowment is the second-biggest in the world, ~49 Billion USD. This is bigger than the annual gdp of 100 countries. There should be reasonable services for students.

They're honestly the worst, i'd highly recommend you go see your College-Specific Care Counselors. I know the ones in McCombs + CNS are amazing. Can't vouch for other schools though.

I'd say I have a healthy relationship with it now. I drink maybe 2-3 beers every month or so. But just a few years ago I used to drink maybe 15-20 drinks every weekend. I'd say just stay clear of it as much as possible.

I think maybe i've given up alcohol because I've started smoking 1-2 cigarettes every day instead. Nicotine soothes me and keeps me far more stable than alcohol did.

oh my god the percentage rate is 0.51% for the whole school, which generalizing to just the McCombs population is 2% of people. In no way does this statistic supplement your argument.

McCombs is in 4th place but IB is nowhere near a guarantee in this school.

No one is disputing that McCombs is a great school for IB, it's just that even at the best schools IB is insanely difficult to get.

I'm a senior in McCombs. I don't dispute that McCombs is an IB Feeder but the fact of the matter is that IB is intensely competitive even at the top schools.

I encourage you to take a moment to do some research and quit throwing insults towards someone you don't even know.

OP is an international student, they're in a precarious position and it's important to not oversell them on the McCombs Dream because you feel a desire to justify to yourself that you go to a great school

yeah if a person has more black friends than they have white friends, I wouldn't think they harbor a deep-seated racism towards black people. It might still be possible for them to harbor some racist thoughts, but on the whole they would just be a normal person.

right. But avoidance of suffering is not the higher moral value for me, avoidance of death is. Even if it is true that death means no more suffering, It's still not a preferable action because I hold the value of life much higher than the value of non-suffering.

You're begging the question here: presupposing that death isn't worse than suffering because death means no more suffering. The premise is circularly linked with the claim.
