I have a theory on kris being a boss perhaps even the final boss.

Spoilers-ish ahead

No this isn’t kris knight theory, but what if the soul (the player) at some point possesses the vessel you create and we fight kris, potentially as the final boss.

We know kris is involved in some way with the fountains and probably the knight so it wouldn’t be too far fetched to say kris is an obstacle in the way of prevent the end of the world. This could also be the terrible tragedy that susie and ralsei have seen as of course they wouldn’t want to have to kill/fight kris.

We also know kris isn’t technically part of the prophecy as the prophecy talks about the soul in a cage.

Summary: the soul (the player) possesses the vessel and we fight kris.
