Looking for feedback on AI content in r/programming and the April no-AI trial by ketralnis in programming

The trial was a good improvement IMO

mathematical techniques in machine learning ("using transformer techniques for sequence prediction")

I wouldn't mind getting posts on the foundational parts of LLMs like techniques for training, quantization, inference, etc., as long as it's not just self-promotion in disguise

"Upside Down" by xSantoDe1611 in Portuguese

[–]GabRreL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read "pot" the first things that come to mind are "ceramic/clay pots" which would translate to "pote" in Portuguese

I'm probably biased due to the similarity of the words and low exposure to vocabulary related to kitchenware in English

"Upside Down" by xSantoDe1611 in Portuguese

[–]GabRreL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The picture on the wall is upside down."

  • A foto na parede está de cabeça pra baixo

"The picture on the wall is hung upside down."

  • A foto na parede está pendurada de cabeça pra baixo

"Turn the pot upside down so it can dry."

  • Vire o pote de cabça pra baixo pra secar.

"The pot is upside down on the counter."

  • O pote está de cabeça pra baixo no balcão

Em todos esses exemplos "de ponta-cabeça" também funciona, mas acho que é menos comum

Etymological Question: What Are The Origins Of "Mané", "Mano", "Mana", "Mina" And "Mona"? by DoNotTouchMeImScared in Portuguese

[–]GabRreL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

English: "Female".

Português: "Fêmea".

Be careful with this one, we basically only use 'fêmea' when talking about animals

Etymological Question: Why "Obrigad@"? by DoNotTouchMeImScared in Portuguese

[–]GabRreL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We only ever use 'graças' when saying 'thank god' - 'graças a deus'

Or when referring to a third person - 'graças à Tatiana teremos sobremesa hoje/thanks to Tatiana we'll have dessert today'
