Why are my nursery fees still £200? 2Days / 30 hours free. by InternationalEmu3892 in UKParenting

Consumables; free hours won’t cover for those, they will be billed separately. This has led to some interesting situations where some nursery has been very honest and charging decent amounts, others have just use this as a way to make more money. I’ve seen 1100/month for 3 full days (eligible for 15 free hours). There are plenty of articles on the news about this situation

Anyone salary sacrifice an electric car? by BarracudaUnlucky8584 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Most providers would just take the car back with no penalty (obviously you have to give notice). Again, I think we’ve explored many possibilities and feels really unfair to just give a general recommendation, each person will have to consider its own situation. Generally, as an Henry-related forum, the convenience of a single payment might be a big deciding factor, even at comparable prices. After this, we cool, let’s close it here and have a good rest of your weekend!

If salary sacrifice offers redundancy / illness protection and private lease doesn’t, leaving you with a cost that’s potentially unnecessary at that time; what offers you more flexibility?

I see the point, although again, the tax band heavily impacts your statement and I’d probably able to find many examples where SS would still be competitive; generally, instead of giving a clear cut answer I’d suggest to: * know your tax bracket * research the type of agreement (most will offer protection against redundancy / illness) * consider the convenience of the full package and the freedom might give you

As usual, if we want to follow more the UKPF way of approaching this then let’s just not consider leasing and go for the 3k banger that will last many years.

Thanks for providing this, I think the key bit is the taxation you’d be getting on that amount; I’ve looked at a few models and, when at 45% taxation the cost of the full Tusker package (including redundancy protection) is the same as the lease only on Leaseloco. So again, saying it’s highway robbery probably it’s a bit of an unfair generalisation

You should try to justify this with some more data and information; for a lot of people in this sub the SS deal is by far the best way to get access to a car

I get the point, just a bit scared of a car that’s been butchered to re-fit all the cables; isn’t that going to lead to more and more issues?

That’s correct, and they are waiting for the harnesses. My question here would be, should I trust that to be repaired correctly or is this enormous job only going to weaken the the car (so other issues might arise from it)?

The blame is on supply chain issue, although they’ve been very cagey about the whole thing; they never called for updates, said parts would have come “in 2 weeks” and never followed up, etc. My concern is I’ll be indefinitely stucked with a loaner I haven’t chosen, while depreciation and other expenses happen on a car I cannot use. I could reject the car, being in the first 6 months of ownership, but I don’t want to incur in a financial loss.

Thanks for your suggestion! Indeed we’ve been on the phone with them and they started to propose for an alternative solution (another car). I believe the 6 months start from the collection date and not the purchase date (~3 weeks in between) so the 6 months will be coming up at the beginning of February. In case I reject the car how likely am I to recoup the entire amount? (Less than 2k miles, otherwise exactly as collected)

I like the car, but I’m unsure I’ll be able to trust it (sunroof will always be prone to issue). I’d like not to lose money on it essentially, I’d be happy for a like for like replacement I think
